July 31, 20231 yr I always seem to fall asleep watching the down under series, usually I get through the first episode though but I didn’t this time.
August 1, 20231 yr This premiere was an absolute mess, but I think I’m just going to expect a mess and enjoy it for that. The budget of about 50p, the tiny stage with all the queens in massive Mardi Gras costumes, the 4 second Rumix verses :lol: Half the cast look terrified at being TV and have no idea what they’re doing or where they are as well. I do love Flor (she did House of Drag hosted by Kita and Anita just like Spankie and Elektra, and has had a huge glow-up, plus she’s giving me Miss Fiercalicious great TV), Hollywould, Isis and Gabriella, so hopefully once some of the filler has gone it will start getting better. I think it will at least be good tv with decent characters in the mix, I just wish the drag scene had a proper chance to shine with decent production values. Ashley Madison being first out given all I’ve heard would have been very satisfying, Amyl was out of her depth but I think there’s more there for sure.
August 4, 20231 yr I much preferred this weeks episode, a vast improvement on ep 1! Bit of a shocking climax to the episode so next week should be fun!

August 11, 20231 yr Flor kind of robbed? I get Michelle thinking it didn’t have “layers” but like… it’s an acting challenge on Drag Race Down Under it’s hardly going to be a fully realised one woman show 😭 The bar might be on the floor but I actually laughed at her, Gabriella was the only other funny one tbh so I’m not super mad she won. That lipsync at the start was kind of camp, just lip syncing for Ru sat there alone out of drag :lol:
August 11, 20231 yr From edit alone, there is no way Gabriella isn't winning this whole thing already. Hollywould is getting a Black Peppa "first episode to 'not experienced enough to mix it up enough'" kind of 3rd/4th place. Isis is getting hyped up but personality feels lacking, Flor is getting a kind of "we enjoy her silliness to laugh at, but not completely laugh with", and kind of the same with Bumpa? I can't remember who the other two are. But, I am actually enjoying it! The signposting is just very very obvious.

August 18, 20231 yr Christ that Snatch Game was worse than season 1 :lol: I HATE made up historical characters but Ashley was the only one who was at all smart, Isis could have won as well, I do think that was better than Icesis’ winning Donatella from CANVTW. Flor and Gabriella were kind of both themselves and Hollywould/Bumpa/Rita had NOTHING to their “characters”. And of all Kylie songs for a lipsync….
