I’m getting lots of sponsored ads today on insta for ‘Tension’ - nice push for the final day of actual streaming that’ll count towards Fridays chart -

Maybe they are confident with the CD sales? Or their plan is week 2 for a reduction to try and offset the singles in week 1?

So maybe we'll find out in the Thursday midweeks what impact the CDs have. I suppose at least we'll be able to breathe easier on Friday! Although not knowing about the CD sales until Friday would have been exciting/nervewracking x

BMG will no doubt be tracking and know what position they want in week one. should be fun. You know if they release an extended mix tomorrow or radio edit then they are chasing a big debut

Oh that will be good if we get a midweek update tomorrow and see how many CDs are there and we would then have an idea of chart position.

 

I do feel like they need to reduce the i tunes one to 59p because once it falls out of the top 10 it will lose visibilty and be too late.

 

Also releasing the radio edit or the extended mix on Thursday is a good shout for some additional digital sales huns.

 

It all dependa what their plan is and what they want from it.

 

Tension will not do much more on spotify without the playlist support and spotify seem to be holding back.

They ‘shipped’ them early previously for some orders but they didn’t get added until the Thursday cut off - I think it’s just a case of them having them ready to go rather than reporting them so we could still be in for a total surprise!

 

Both my orders are showing as ‘complete’ - one for 2 x bundles and the other for 3 x alternative artwork

I think they have done a great job with securing top 20 this week. I’m predicting maybe a #16 type entry.

 

I do think we should be expecting a Leigh-Anne ‘Don’t Say Love’ type moment next week though with it exiting the top 40. They could have saved CD’s back until next week and got a low top 30 with two weeks top 30 in a row if they wanted to, but obviously prioritised a higher peak over giving it a few weeks stability. I did say I thought this was a riskier move to keep playlisting on board but oh well.

 

I think hopefully it could re-enter the top 40 for album release week and that would be great to see it at least get two weeks top 40. I just think we need to lower our expectations as ‘Padam’ has got people too excited. There is nothing about ‘Tension’ that screams GP smash or cross-over appeal the way ‘Padam’ did. ‘Tension’ is a left-of field gay bop and that’s about it.

^^ Agree, fully expecting a 14-53 type run, with it then being stable for the album release but I’ll take that over a 28-27-33-39 type one in this instance!

I'm not! i am expecting it to be fine for a good few weeks. Will get on more playlists and there will be another download next week probably. Week of album release streams will be high which maybe another physical and then some remixes, maybe ALOK or Tiesto would like well, maybe Purple Disco Machine.

 

Don't think it will nose dive in next 4-5 weeks at least. She will have promo lined up i am sure

Surely it's a bit too soon to say, obviously the coming days and seeing what sort of additional support it gets (c'mon HH) will be key.

 

What signs are you seeing that it'll plummet straight out of the top 40 in week 2?

For Kylie standards, lack of uk promo is a bit surprising. I understand there aren’t a lot of tv shows right now to promote on, they’re saving key spots for the album, avoid over exposure, etc etc but still, I was hoping for a few more radio rounds, etc. So far all we’ve gotten for Tension is the bbc r2 premiere and the Zane - apple interview, correct ?

It’s already down to #5 on iTunes in a low sales environment, it’s out of the Spotify Top 200 with minimal playlist support (so far), it’s had a sluggish start on Amazon so the only support it currently has is on Apple.

 

Plus dropping 2 CDs in week 1 will be massive to overcome in week 2 unless they have something spectacular up their sleeves (prime time promo, payola and playlists) then I personally can’t see anything other than a big fall.

I think it's premature to see how it's going to do in week 2 before it's added to Hot Hits, or even discounted on iTunes (not that the latter makes a huge difference). Leigh Anne simply did not click, even with Hot Hits, but the fact this managed 4 days top 200 with VERY little playlisting across Spotify makes me think it'll be more of a 14-32 kind of second week, and could climb after that.

 

It's only JUST had a full day of Capital playlisting too, unlike Leigh Anne who had very strong radio support since day 1.

to be fair i think PP would have dropped a few places if it hadn't have been 59p from 4 days after release.

 

once the CDs with the extended mix have been dispatched then the extended mix can be released to download haha. :wub: probably from her website first off as then the original will still be streamed and growing rather than having split streams
