to be fair i think PP would have dropped a few places if it hadn't have been 59p from 4 days after release.

once the CDs with the extended mix have been dispatched then the extended mix can be released to download haha. probably from her website first off as then the original will still be streamed and growing rather than having split streams

I think we’ll get the extended mix next week too, and I’m not being negative as a week 1 Top 20 is beyond huge but an extended mix won’t be enough to combat the 2 x CD deficit, also there doesn’t seem as much urgency from the overall fanbase - for PP everyone was fully invested in streaming on loop, downloading from every site possible etc., - it seems a lot more chilled now and people happy with a Top 20 (hopefully),

I really hope it takes off on Radio and streaming but if not it’s achieved against the odds for Kylie in 2023.

Yep everyone got backing PP everywhere. Seems Kylie fans may have sat back a little with Tension so far. No time to be complacent. I am still streaming 10 x Tension and 50 x PP a day (orginal, extended, Jax, Absolute and Haai)

i know TV adverts are expensive but showing 15 seconds of each song in a 30 sec advert could do wonders for the song as well as album.

I can't be mad at all, BMG have done everything right to ensure a good peak. Holding back the digital release until Friday, 2 CDs, well all except discounting to 59p but you can't have everything :P You can't force a song to be a hit, they've given Tension more than a good head start and if it collapses after this week then so be it.

Honestly this - they’ve basically done what the fans have been asking for and the fact they priced the CDs lower this time too.

We get a strong debut and if it remains top 40 for a second week then that's a huge win I think. Especially so soon to the full album.

Down to 6 on Itunes.

To be fair except for PP then most kylie songs are clinging to a top 50 on itunes after 5 days in......

Just got my 2x iTunes and 2x Amazon downloads in!

Didn’t realise there was 2 on Amazon - off to grab that one too!

I think it might end up having a 15-40-42-22-34-43-48-50-52-95-100-97-OUT kind of run, which in my opinion would still be amazing for a Kylie single in 2023 to have.

A top 20 peak with a silver/gold certification and 100 million streams on Spotify by the end of the era sounds fantastic to me.

2 x despatch emails for me too - BMG & Townsend are on the ball with this one!

Great hold at #21 today too (14-19-19-21) is very stable! Hopefully the CDs are in tomorrows update then!

I think they have done a great job with securing top 20 this week. I’m predicting maybe a #16 type entry.

I do think we should be expecting a Leigh-Anne ‘Don’t Say Love’ type moment next week though with it exiting the top 40. They could have saved CD’s back until next week and got a low top 30 with two weeks top 30 in a row if they wanted to, but obviously prioritised a higher peak over giving it a few weeks stability. I did say I thought this was a riskier move to keep playlisting on board but oh well.

I think hopefully it could re-enter the top 40 for album release week and that would be great to see it at least get two weeks top 40. I just think we need to lower our expectations as ‘Padam’ has got people too excited. There is nothing about ‘Tension’ that screams GP smash or cross-over appeal the way ‘Padam’ did. ‘Tension’ is a left-of field gay bop and that’s about it.

Tensions doing better than I expected hun, I expected low top 40. I dont think anyone here expected a Padam sized hit.

It is definitely heading for an a top 20 debut.

Lets see if anything else comes out tomorrow. An extended mix 75p Website exclusive can do no harm!

I think the cds will secure her top 20 so hold back other stuff to help stabilise it next week or another week.
It’s already down to #5 on iTunes in a low sales environment, it’s out of the Spotify Top 200 with minimal playlist support (so far), it’s had a sluggish start on Amazon so the only support it currently has is on Apple.

Plus dropping 2 CDs in week 1 will be massive to overcome in week 2 unless they have something spectacular up their sleeves (prime time promo, payola and playlists) then I personally can’t see anything other than a big fall.

Exactly. The main thing they can pull out for week 2 is a 59p reduction, extended mix to give a bit of a downloads boost, but with there not seeing much of a big campaign to buy multiple versions of the downloads already available, and the downloads seeming weak anyway I just don’t see that being a massive booster. If they had cassettes or another format for Week 2 then maybe it could stay top 40 so who knows.

But yes I’m fully expecting a 15-49-60-39 type run to the four weeks maybe…

Let’s not forget there will most likely be a cassette released either next week or the week after that’ll probably keep it top 40.

Rolling Stones single is out on CD and Vinyl from Friday 8th through Polydor

Hence BMG threw Kylie's CDs out early to hopefully grab number 1 in the physicals chart for Tension this week instead of next which the Rolling Stones would have probably have got......
