I see Calvin & Sam have an Amazon exclusive mix of Desire.

Thats something that could work well.

Amazon really is a key market for Kylie

I think it would be streaming suicide for Kylie to give an exclusive to one provider over another - it’s a risk even for bigger streaming artists but they can overcome it but I’m sure Spotify/Apple etc., react accordingly to a competitor getting an exclusive over them.

I agree, i could see something like that doing more damage than good for Kylie actually part of thinks it would be like the Nadine Coyle and the Tesco exclusive deal, and we all know how that went!!

its only a remix exclusive lol, not the main song

Frankly I am more than happy with Tension’s week 2. I still feel it might recover, and even if it is just stable in the 50s-60s region until the album release, it’s more than fine by me. So far it is doing exactly like I thought (the positive scenario would have been a HH add and lingering in the low top-200 in the UK Spotify, but alas).

And it is still on track of being a big Kylie streaming hit and easily outdoing her other BMG ventures, Padam aside. Also I’m fairly sure of a silver certification, just not a quick one.

I think Padam rose our hopes and expectations a little bit too much to be honest.

It only got playlisted on Capital, Kiss, BBC Radio 2 last week. It will stick around.

if you think Selena Gomez is 40 after 3 weeks with a peak of 19. Joel Corry and Rita Ora 58 today after 3 weeks with a peak of 42

Kylie doing fine.

As much as PP strategy was excellent I do think they messed up a little by letting it go to ACR straight away. Those remixes could have been used a little more strategically.

It didn’t go to ACR straight away! It gained one more week to have a 10 week run on SCR instead of 9.

It still has a playlist reach that many artists, younger than her, can only dream of:

Out of interest what is this site? Is it the one you mentioned to me before?

I’ve noticed some people saying that Tension “hasn’t connected” but on what basis? How does it have the chance to “connect” if Spotify won’t put it on the biggest UK playlist, Hot Hits UK? As Joe says, it being midweek #55 in week 2 without that playlist is actually fine all things considered. If anything it shows that it is reaching people, but it’s being stunted (including by BMG because they let the download slip down because of it being 99p).

Aside from Padam Padam, Tension is “connecting” better in week 2 than any Kylie single since Into the Blue (which feels like a moot point of an example because Into the Blue is from before streaming counted to the chart… so essentially Tension is her second best performing single in week 2 in the streaming era).

The most beneficial playlist from the image Voodoo posted, from a UK chart perspective, is probably Just Hits, placed at #12 with followers of 2.8m. Most of the other playlists there have the song buried quite far down or aren’t particularly major playlists. Sextou being her best place on a playlist with over 1m+ followers isn’t helpful for the UK because it’s for Brazil.

Songstats is the website. it is very good but you have to pay to view certain things but it gives you all the streaming sites Tiktok, Amazon, Spotify, Apple and much more. you could spend days there.

One of Padam Padam most influencial playlist was MASSIVE DANCE HITS, it was top of that list and it gained big Spotify numbers. not on there yet.

But we have to think PP had American Idol footage, Capital FM TV footage, Pride events everywhere. It was big in USA which meant Spotfiy streams/Youtube views higher even if chart success in other countries wasnt. She also did all the radio stations visits etc.

Tension totally different strategy. I hope she sings it at the BBC concert, though i am not sure its easy to sing at that type of concert

Tension up from 25 to 18 on Itunes, nice little rebound.

VMAs tomorrow too, itunes and Streaming will be swamped by all the artists performing so Tension probably have a battle on it'd hands to maintain its position. However as VMAs hype will be spread over different chart weeks it shouldn't be too bad. Shakira looks like she will get a big boost especially is Beyonce duets with her

Couldnt put it better myself my hun

Agree with all of this hun

Tensions done amazing. Exceeded ny expectations, I expected a top 40 hit, not top 20 hun.

Also, Spotify is letting the song down, so it is doing all this without any big playlist support from Spotify. It is also still climbing that Amazon chart as well.

Thank GOD for some sense at last on this subject.

It has a 27.2m Spotify reach, it's reaching lots of people haha.

Up to 146 on Amazon Music

World wide?

How does that compare to the reach of songs addee to the bigger playlists hun? That reach is out of context for me hun, I need it in a context of - what were the spotify reach of the other songs that were top 20 in the UK last week or other songs around the world.

We also have to remember that Padam Padam had Warner Chapell Music behind it so that will have helped its playlistings on Spotify as well

Tension has only BMG

We know Spotify playists are dominated by Universal, Warner Chappel and Sony.

Unfortunately, Tension's playlist reach is not good, let's not shy away from that. It's nice to try and stay positive, but this is just a fact, Carol Honey seems to have grasped it.

It's being treated like a Disco single on Spotify, rather than a single that just followed hit, which is a big shame.

I don't remember Say Something and Music getting this many streams on Spotify after day 11.

Maybe a shorter radio edit could get on a few more playlists

It must be doing OK on UK streaming as its 55 and that is literally just streaming sales and a couple of hundred downloads

I do agree that the length of the song (silly as it sounds) may have played into the dissection of Hot Hits not to jump on it. Especially that longer intro, I was always surprised there wasn't a shorter edit for streaming.

Yeah it is doing above average for a Kylie single in the streaming era but without the playlist support from Spotify, it was never going to be huge. And we all knew this, we all expected top 40, top 30 at best and it actually made top 20. So it has done amazing. I think it will linger around the top 100 for a little bit now before dropping out. Especially if she can hold apple music support and Amazon streams keep increasing rapidly over the coming week.

They could easily influence digial sales with the extended mix and radio edit as well as reducing both original tension versions to 59p.

Maybe the plan this week is top try and stay top 40 with cassettes before cutting digital prices and adding a kylie.com download of extended or edit version at the end of week 2 or in week 3. Then release those versions on i tunes and streaming.

.they still have cards to play hun and I think maybe the plan is to try and hold it top 40 for a couple of weeks for an extended chart run but who knows hun. Who knows.
