September 17, 20231 yr No I think it was the correct timings. I think she just wanted to get into her red costume for Padam.

September 17, 20231 yr She did indeed put in the performance of the night as I was there. Great as always and delivered the hits. Even kept dry which was a bonus!
September 17, 20231 yr Author Great show! The Disco/Tension tracks were definitely the highlights. I was curious as to how 'Tension' might translate live as it feels very much like a song that works best in its studio form, but actually I thought it was great! Loved the choreography. 'Say Something' acoustic gave Kylie a chance to show off her vocal ability, both technically and storytelling-wise. 'Hold On To Now' is sounding glorious, very Kylie-sounding but it didn't feel tired at all for me. I've not heard 'Kiss of Life' in ages and it was a real treat to have Jessie Ware join on stage. The encore was my peak highlight. 'Padam Padam' has really secured itself as a Kylie classic and just those opening bars get me really hyped for the song. I adored the live version of 'Can't Get You Out of My Head', a lot of elements of the original recording used. Having those two songs back to back made me realise 'Padam Padam' has that 'deceptively simple' quality to it that 'Head' does and I think that plays a part in why it caught on so much. Sometimes less is more. Some songs are in desperate need of new arrangements, particularly 'Spinning Around' which feels a bit underwhelming now. I adore the 2020 mix of 'In Your Eyes' though and, contrary to my previous point, I do think the Abbey Road version of 'Locomotion' is the best non-original arrangement of the song so I don't mind hearing that still. Hearing the same Kylie phrases like "for some of you it has been a lifetime!" or "you are all so wow!" is getting a bit too predictable. She did indeed put in the performance of the night as I was there. Great as always and delivered the hits. Even kept dry which was a bonus! Glad you enjoyed it! I see Kylie was wearing her waterproofs!
September 17, 20231 yr https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/kylie-minogu...d-1ba279b4.html Thanks Liam! When is she retiring kids and Wow? I’m bored. Did anyone join her for Kids?
September 17, 20231 yr Author Thanks Liam! When is she retiring kids and Wow? I’m bored. Did anyone join her for Kids? It was just her backing vocalists. No Rick Astley unfortunately. Although I have to say I didn't actually mind 'Kids' this time round, I feel like it had a slightly more rock-edge to it, particularly towards the end, which stopped it from falling as flat as it usually does.
September 17, 20231 yr Phew thank God ! I don’t like wow as I always thought it was a bit too frivolous and sounds even worse live.
September 17, 20231 yr I’m glad she flew in a few surprises like hold onto now and kiss of life. We’ve all heard kids, love at first sight and spinning around so many times live and it’s near to hear different tracks.
September 17, 20231 yr Phew thank God ! I don’t like wow as I always thought it was a bit too frivolous and sounds even worse live. I thought wow sounded better live to be honest. Her voice was also more natural and sounded better on Padam in contrast to the record which is over processed. I only song I didn’t like from the set list was tension and more so because I don’t think it’s a great song in the first place rather than a reflection on her performance. September 17, 20231 yr Yeah there are too many obvious Kylie live script pieces now: “To be real” “For some of you it really has been a lifetime” “You’re all looking wow tonight!”
September 17, 20231 yr Author I’m glad she flew in a few surprises like hold onto now and kiss of life. We’ve all heard kids, love at first sight and spinning around so many times live and it’s near to hear different tracks. Agreed, those Disco/Tension tracks were definitely the highlights for me. I know she has to put the classics in there though, especially at this type of gig, and that's why it's important to update the arrangements or even just go back to the originals! September 18, 20231 yr Confirmed Saturday 23rd September BBC2 Kylie Concert in the Park (Leicester) 10.05pm-11.15pm Preceeded by SAW at the BBC 8.35pm-10.05pm Followed by Kylie at the BBC 11.15pm-12.45am
September 23, 20231 yr Great show, vocally kylie was on fire, hold onto love really stood out for me it came across even better live than the studio version. All the lovers was performed brilliantly for the closing.
September 24, 20231 yr Watched it and think there were some slight edits….PP we see more of the final dance on the outro rather than just a zoom of her shoe haha. Went to bed after but will have a look at Kylie at the BBC later….though has that been on already?
September 24, 20231 yr Ya kylie at the BBC was a repeat only they added on padam padam. It's a great programme though having some of the old kylie performances and same with the SAW one that was on. From a time frame I never put together that kylie and Jason had split and recording band aids do they know it's Christmas was their first time meeting since the split, for some reason I thought they were still a couple then it, was on one of the snippets on the show, I'd say it was awkward for kylie and extremely hard for Jason as we know he really was left broken hearted at the time.
