BIGGEST HIT: EBONY & IVORY (#1, 1982) PIPES OF PEACE (#1, 1983) FERRY CROSS THE MERSEY (#1, 1989)

Niall is musically my favourite former 1Der so it's a shame he's dropped a bit from last time. How the hell has Fatboy Slim managed to pull off such a massive climb when he hasn't had a hit for years?!? I'm not complaining but I'm very confused about that!

Me remembering to vote this time? ;-) As one of the curators of 90s dance, I have to rank him highly, his hits are all excellent and You've Come a Long Way Baby is a brilliant album.

Two iconic figures of their respective generations there, 90+ top 40 hits!!

Paul also iconic obvs, though his solo material doesn't have as many highlights as George or John's.

I'm a bigger fan of Drake than most on here but not sure I'd have put him on my list, I do continue to check out his albums but they've been an exercise in picking the few serviceable tunes out of a heap of slop for years at this point (aside from 'Her Loss' which has a better ratio although still a few stinkers). I do still like most of his singles and features though.

Slightly surprised to see Paul McCartney ahead of John Lennon here as Lennon's solo career is generally more acclaimed I'm sure? Again though I wouldn't have voted for either on the strength of their solo material.

Elvis' catalogue is very hit or miss for me, lots of good tunes, lots of tedious and forgettable ones too.

A day without losing any of my votes would be nice :drama: Elvis faves: 'Heartbreak Hotel', 'That's All Right', 'Jailhouse Rock'.

Paul M solo is very hit and miss.

Elvis is very much hit and miss too but when he got the mood right such as in Heartbreak Hotel, In The Ghetto and Suspicious Minds he was fantastic. Oh and I felt I had to give something to my most listened to artist of 2023 even if it was for a rather unusual reason haha!

I know Elvis is one of the most famous musicians to have ever lived but I've never really clicked with any of his stuff in the way that I have with the Beatles and the Stones and others of that era. 'Suspicious Minds' is an aboslute tune though!

I quite liked some of Drake's early stuff, 'Find My Love' was quite a tune, as were his two big Rihanna collabs, but he lost me after 'Hotline Bling', which is the last thing I really liked from him. How 'One Dance' was number one for about a million years I'll never understand

Agreed on Elvis, always looked at him especially the earlier stuff as quite manufactured compared to the Beatles for example.

I Want to Hold Your Hand is more manufactured than any Elvis song imo.

Surprised Elvis is not top 40 this time. I think I like him much more after his iconic film. On the other hand, that awful Priscilla film. :drama:

BIGGEST HIT: LIMIT TO YOUR LOVE (#39, 2010)

Oh how neat that Kendrick and James both fell out on the same day as the latter supported the former when I saw him live!

Ooft, two big losses there though.

Kendrick is extremely consistent for me, with his best albums (the first two) being out-of-this-world and the others still great <3 and James has a beautiful discography... it's also a treat when he pops up on other people's work, e.g. Dave and ROSALÍA's latest albums

A BuzzJack-friendly fact: James Blake is still dating Jameela Jamil as far as I'm aware :jameela:

Well there are 2 artists I've seen live there (at the same concert in fact x edit: I did wonder if Jade might beat me to posting about that haha, typing on mobile is slow xx) so you know I'm stanning *.* Actually quite disappointingly low for Kendrick, I'd have thought he'd challenge to be the highest placed rapper on here but there are definitely still at least a couple more to come. I think he'd probably have been my 30 pointer anyway so blame me for him not being top 40. And James Blake may well have been my 29 pointer actually, though the fact he even qualifies for the list at all is quite miraculous! Hope he'll leverage his hip-hop connections to make a return to the UK top 40 one of these days but of course most of his own music is never getting within a mile of the charts.

Oh and Morrissey is here too. What's that one JPEGMAFIA song called again  (seriously though, another one whose best work was as part of a group, 'How Soon Is Now?' will never not be a tune of life no matter how embarrassing Morrissey becomes as a human being).

edit: I did wonder if Jade might beat me to posting about that haha, typing on mobile is slow xx)

:D a concert so good that it deserved two mentions tbh.

Forgot to say that James is way higher than I would've expected btw, nice to see a decent array of fans.

Oh no, I forgot Kendrick </3 I knew those last second votes on a phone would have a cost, I think I was sticking too much to my album bucket list. Went through his albums a while back and he's a wonderful artist, probably the most consistent hip hop artist for me as well.
