I am interested to make some discoveries here in Semi 2 and what possessed Dobago to recycle a Zanmatonese entrant only two months later? :lol: It was intentional, I changed the entry I had planned for this contest to this one. 'Gaza' was released in 2012 and nothing has changed. One of the lyrics is "For thirteen years the roads have all been closed, we're isolated, we're denied medical supplies". So it's now been 24 years.  Sorry if my song is a bit controversial but I thought it would be a bit different to what normally appears in the contest.

October 24, 20231 yr 2 faves in semi 1 from Pet Shop Boys (obv!) - congrats on the 100th AH! - and also Win, which I was literally reminding myself mentally to play on youtube about 2 weeks ago as a potential obscure 80's goodie to enter. Somebody has powers of telepathy! :lol: Â Semi 2 has Das Boot as a fave, a Sparks cover I dont know with added Moroder as per the original, and Minnie Ripperton could sing a dictionary and make it sound gorgeous...died way way too young.
October 24, 20231 yr Genuinely can't remember the last time I was in Semi 1. I'm sure I've been in Semi 2 90% of the contests I've been in :lol: You were in semi 1 in the first contest of this year but before that the last time was BJSC 140 so you have been semi 2 for 14 of your last 15 contests...! (in total you've been semi 1 29 times and semi 2 45 times, so it was more or less 50/50 before the randomiser got stuck on keeping you in semi 2 for the last 2 years :lol:) I even checked last contests Semi 2 (which I was also in) and FARC, Bøtanikkä, Thelonia and Persephonia all are the same sequence as before (1st, 3rd, 18th and 22nd respectively) so yeah it would be worth looking into how random the randomiser is being of late… :mellow: To whip out my maths degree for a moment ~ it would actually be more suspicious if we didn't see the occasional coincidence like this from a truly randomised list. Randomness just means each entry in the list has an equal chance to be in any position, which includes the position they were already at before the list was randomised. Does seem fairly unlikely there'd be as many as 4 of those at once but if you run a randomiser enough times unlikely things are bound to happen eventually! Same!  I keep going back to it and for some reason I long thought it'd been entered specifically by N DNTN but I realised last month that it hadn't? I don't know where I invented that memory from? I'd guess you're just remembering this? x I noticed that the title is listed as 'Les Fleur' in the OP - I filled out as 'Les Fleurs' on the form because that's the title on streaming but it was a bit confusing. I looked on Discogs and 'Les Fleur' was the title on the original pressing of the single/album and was only changed to 'Les Fleurs' on streaming and the latest repress of the LP (the 2017 version has the 'Les Fleur' title without the S as well) so good catch! Yeah that was me combing through cleaning up the tags as usual, admittedly I wasn't entirely sure what to do with this one either because as you say it is now tagged as 'Les Fleurs' on streaming and apparently that is what it 'should' be but I was just going by the title it went by on the original physical release of both the single and its parent album! (and there are still more recent sources that tag it without the closing 's' as well such as this BandCamp listing) Stickling over the spelling aside :kink: I was quite surprised to discover this song has almost the same number of streams as 'Lovin' You' on Spotify! Don't think I have heard it before, intrigue ~
