On My Love up to #2 on HHUK plus Zara/Guetta on the cover now :cheeseblock:

It's a pity she'll likely be robbed of a decent peak due to the Xmas takeover. The song is mediocre but always happy to see Zara do well.

It'll most likely rebound to where it is now if not higher in the new year.

See if The Pogues can't even overtake Wham! on Spotify now in the immediate aftermath of the news I don't see how they have a hope of doing so in the Christmas #1 week. Christmas song streams are just too reliant on playlists, it's too much of an uphill battle for them. Nice to see them at least briefly having the highest Christmas song on Apple though (Apple's playlists seem to be less aggressively Americanised).
Unless a massive download campaign is successful, which I don't see tbh, will be tricky to find the 30,000 or so downloads required, I would be inclined to agree the Pogues can't do it

Just for one year I'd love whoever puts together the Spotify Christmas playlists to shake them up a bit.

People will still seek out Wham! and Mariah themselves but the way it looks like Bobby Helms and Dean Martin are among the top classics now due to SO many people listening passively in order to these playlists is crazy.

Wizzard are 99th on the main Christmas Hits playlist and Slade are not even on there. I know these are geared largely towards US audiences but is it really any wonder these songs are not as prolific as they once were?

Do we really need multiple versions of Grown-Up Christmas List by Amy Grant (!) and Jordan Smith (?) above The Pogues, Leona Lewis, Shakin' Stevens, Chris Rea, Coldplay, Ed and Elton etc. Who is compiling these, and what are they on?

I wonder if a campaign to get FONY to #1 while the news is fresh and while its streams and downloads are higher than usual anyway might have a higher chance than one in the Christmas tracking week. Then again people are more used to there being campaigns in Christmas week and so might be more receptive.

It’s hard to see either potential campaign being successful at this point though I agree.

Where did the Pogues climb from yesterday?

They climbed 17, from 23 to 6

Where did the Pogues climb from yesterday?

They were at 23 yesterday - so they did make a bigger climb than some Christmas songs and overtook a fair few

In Ireland the Pogues are #2 on Spotify, only behind Stick Season.

Also #18 in Sweden and #19 in Norway

I don’t understand why Spotify can’t just make the main playlists they promote country specific - I’m sure Apple Music do it as Wizzard and Slade are both very high up in their main playlist

They do lmao Finnish Spotify has loads of local Christmas songs on its main playlist.

They just THINK that the UK wants to hear the US hits.

^same here.

Too bad about Fairytale of New York, was expecting it to be closer to the top today but yes

the power of playlists is hard to overcome

Is Spotify not a Swedish website despite their US centric Christmas playlists?

Sure but US rules the world, they're not gonna fill it with Swedish artists ;)

Taylor-You're Losing Me had a pretty 2nd day, down to #7 in the UK surpassed by all the Xmas songs but with 368K

and in the US still #1 with nearly 2.5 million

Would be nice to see taylor sneak a week top 40 with this fingers crossed she can hold
