Ah, interesting. ‘Shoot to Thrill’ would be my choice, but a more well-known one would probably fare better
I wonder if they'd get an ACR reset? If so, 'Back In Black' and 'Thunderstruck' get high enough streams that they might not be far off the top 100 as is if they were on SCR, so getting a reasonable position might not be that hard if the campaign gets some traction.

Current odds as per Sky Bet... I wonder if they'd payout for a bet on The Kunts if they get to #1 as The Krackpots? - https://m.skybet.com/tv-music-and-film/uk-c.../event/32375259

It might be worth putting something on Wham...

LadBaby for 6 in a row surely.

Why has JVKE got such short odds? Hardly a household name like the other ones they've listed.

There's always a couple of those random ones, they had The Lathums up high a couple of years ago! At least they actually had a Christmas song out that year though.

These were the top ten sales at Christmas last year:

01 65,335 LadBaby - Food Aid [4,967 CDs, 54,295 downloads, 6,073 streaming]

02 54,559 Wham! - Last Christmas

03 52,269 Sidemen - Christmas Drillings [9,947 CDs, 21,909 downloads] [total: 79,339]

04 51,370 Mariah Carey - All I Want for Christmas Is You

05 48,377 Ed Sheeran & Elton John - Merry Christmas

06 47,932 RAYE feat. 070 Shake - Escapism.

07 46,101 The Kunts feat. Terry Edwards - f*** the Tories [36,850 downloads]

08 38,922 Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree

09 36,187 Central Cee - LET GO

10 36,097 Stormzy - Firebabe

If LadBaby try again, then at their recent rate of decline year-on-year, I'd imagine they will fall behind Wham! and Mariah at least.

It really seemed like such a titanic effort to get Food Aid to No.1, all the crying videos etc. I just don't see them trying again unless they really believe they can do it again/have something huge up their sleeves. Five no.1s and then a No.10 would be catnip for a media backlash, surely they will think it's better to go out on top and say something predictable like 'look, we're proud of our efforts but that's it, now buy our book' etc.

So take them out and it's Wham! vs Mariah (the former will surely have the edge here unless Mariah gets wise to it and puts out some 99p CDs) vs Sidemen if they release something again or maybe some other big social media hyped contender.

Also, the presence of Sam Ryder at No.50 in the Monday mids is interesting - Alexa will have barely got going with Christmas and Sam is already the third highest Christmas song. Imo it's a great, original Christmas track and something people might actually want to actively listen to, on top of the passive plays. Could be a top five???

Re Sam like most of these Alexa backed songs they tend to do best the week after Xmas itself when the huge streams occur over Xmas day etc unless Sam has something up his sleeves with regards to promo or a cd release to top up this!

sure Sidemen will release but will probably announce pretty late

With the new chart rules acdc will get reset as long as the song hadn’t been in the chart for the past 3 years
I am rooting for FONY though, one of my fave Christmas songs of all time and after wham and Mariah it’s the Xmas song that deserves #1 most imo

Only if it gains 25% in streaming (or gets manually requested by the label) though, right? Which would be challenging - if the campaign was to get moderate (but not massive) publicity, I could imagine it getting a few thousand downloads but barely gaining on streaming.
I’d love Fairytale of New York to go to #1, but I just don’t see how it happens tbh. The streaming gap is absolutely massive between that and Wham!/Mariah these days. Would require an absolutely unprecedented download campaign imo

If the worst were to happen to Shane McGowan between now and this time next month there could perhaps be significant enough of a campaign plus increased streaming support I guess.

Preferable of course that he does end up recovering from his current hospital visit though.

BBC News now reporting a new challenger entering the race…

Nala the Station Cat with her song “Meow”

she’s a four year old cat ’famous’ for visiting Stevenage station lol

My bet is on DJ Play a Christmas #1 Song.
