I get why it's divisive but I still love 'Demons', my favourite song off this Doja album (although probably still second to 'Need To Know' among my all time Doja faves).

'Million Dollar Bill' and 'REACT' are both among the biggest offenders of terrible dance remakes this year, 'Children' does not deserve to be defiled yet again as if Tyga hadn't already ruined it and the vocals on MDB just really rub me the wrong way. I suspect I could probably add the Guetta/Petras song to this sentence as well but I will reserve judgement since I haven't heard it yet. I didn't mind 'Alone' by Kim after all so you never know x

I only listened to the Sam/Madonna song once and barely remember it but I thought it was pretty decent iirc. (Better than 'Popular' and miiiiles better than 'Desire', I said what I said x)

Although I liked most of dojas output, I wasn’t sold on demons. A bit toooo strange from her lmao. Vulgar was just embarassing. React was so pointless and boring, haven’t heard the David Kim one, and the million dollar bill remake was just plain annoyinh! Hoping caity baser to drop out asap, I love that song (I feel like I’m in a veeeery small boat here) it’s such sn ear worm!

After having a breakthrough hit in the previous year Irish singer Jazzy magiced up another big smash again with the help of production duo Belters Only. She's yet to score any big fans on Buzzjack though with this track not doing her any favours for being rather pedestrian for a dancepop hit, some less than affectionately retitling the song "Giving Meh". She ends out a point behind Canadian RnB star/convicted felon Tory Lanez whose "best" Weeknd impersonation ended up going viral on TikTok to award him with his biggest hit yet. Another man who's recently faced prison time but went on to get his biggest hit yet here is Gunna whose "Fukumean" became one of the few trap songs in recent times to be a long-lasting hit.

Meanwhile the first of two movie soundtrack titles that were hated enough to end out top 20 here, it comes from the Barbie film which was the most talked about movie event of the year with many praising Ryan Gosling for his role in it. However when it comes to him singing about being a Ken in a Barbie World it's hard to find any enjoyment out of it outside of the context of the film. KSI had a bit of an off year having only put out one track, however one is all you need to end up in the hatechart if it's that bad, being "helped" by Oliver Tree - both of them collectively having one of the most annoying vocal performances of the year. Thankfully it fell off the chart very quickly after its initial fanbase boost to very nearly scale the top 10.

Nothing that I voted for in that batch, Gunna is often pretty boring but I really like 'fukumean', 'I'm Just Ken' is not something I'd listen to of my own accord as Ryan's vocals are not great but I don't have the energy to hate on it and I'm sure it works great in the film, 'Giving Me' and 'The Color Violet' both just sound like mid AI generated tracks but they're not offensive or anything (Tory has done far, far worse) and I'm shocked enough people even remember 'Voices' enough for it to place this highly, it was mediocre but very easily ignorable!
I'm Just Ken is probably my favourite pure pop song of the year! One of the best scenes in any movie I've seen for ages. I also enjoy listening to the song stand alone (though not sure if I'd be saying the same if it had just come into existence without the movie)

Also don't get the hate for I'm Just Ken. It's my fave Ryan Gosling song. Well, I don't know anything else from him of course. :P

Pretty Boys is my fave still to come. :o

Taken from the Mario movie soundtrack, we've collectively decided Jack Black is the more annoying 'actor-turned-singer' of the year as 'Peaches', a "love" song to Peach from the perspective of Bowser managed to crack the top 40 for a few weeks. The song being over the top annoying I'm sure was done intentionally for the film context (I've not seen it) but regardless it is a painful listening experience. Speaking of which we have Lewis Capaldi tied for points, and this is the one contest of the year where he's guaranteed to not go home "pointless". Another sloppy piano ballad from him wasn't what we wanted but what we got anyhow and many got even more annoyed over its ascent to #1 much assisted by signed CD singles rather than genuine popularity (the song falling outside the top 10 the week after to show).

Buzzjack's least favourite "lesbian" Drake can't quite manage to scale the heights he reached two years ago in the hatechart but lands two songs next to each other in this section. The first taken from the much-hyped album 'For All the Dogs', it landed as one of two tracks from it in the UK top 5. It's a rather nothingy song to begin with as we're used to from him by now but to make matters worse Yeat is given a large chunk of the song as a feature who we really could do without. Meanwhile the industry is still trying to make Central Cee a thing in the US so an inevitable Drake collaboration with him happened albeit only as a throwaway freestyle. Enough of you found that in itself annoying enough for it to land here clearly. Just outside the top 10 one of the year's worst dance hits now from rising DnB producer Bou who decided we really needed yet another sample of 'Children' right after Switch Disco's big hit. Although the main offender here is guest rapper Slay who puts in an annoying vocal performance and also takes the title for most misleading performer name.

Pointless is the only thing I voted for in 20-11, which was the worst offender of Lewis’s soppy warbled ballads. Mostly it’s been songs I’m not too fussed about either way.

Peaches and I’m Just Ken aren’t tracks I’d seek out particularly but they both worked really well in context.

I know I’m in the minority but boo at pretty boys making the top 10. Absolutely loved that song when it came out!

Giving me is just so dull and dreary. Pointless really is pointless. Also dreary lol. I’m just Ken sure didn’t like in or out of context, fukumean was just irritating and voices I despise

Peaches I do not understand at all. I don’t mind the colour violet even tho I do not like Tory at all idgaf was actually a bit of a tune. The drake central cee one was shit and ew at closer ehat rubbish.

And I’ve just realised I’ve mixed the two groups up in my posts lmao

AnywYs caity baser doesn’t deserve to he this high x

And still nothing I voted for there so I think I've voted for the majority of the top 10! (edit: in fact just checked and there's only one song left that I didn't vote for, so no major taste failures this year really x)

Drake had a song that legitimately should have been on this list for once ('Search & Rescue'), not sure how that one got off the hook, I like both of the songs from him that did actually make the list, the Cench collab is one of the better freestyles to make the chart for me. 'Peaches' is pretty iconic. I don't like the other two songs but they both fell a bit short of my votes, will take Bou's any day over Switch Disco.

I loved Peaches, great light relief among the morass of brainless sample-heavy dance and r&b tracks.

On the other hand, if you'd told me someone would spew out an even more offensive abuse of Children so soon after React, I'd have found it hard to believe... cue Bou...

Starting out the top 10 is Kim Petras who last year found herself here by covering 'Running Up That Hill' and this year heavily sampling 'Better Off Alone'. Taking on one of Buzzjack's favourite dance songs ever as a sample choice was always going to be a tough sell however and most of us were less than pleased. The song managed to scrape a top 40 placing off the back of some pre-release TikTok hype and a Nicki Minaj feature however it didn't last for much longer afterwards. Buzzjack nemeses D-Block Europe took us to 'Pakistan' next although I'm sure the country is deserving of a better song with an actual tune to represent them as we weren't impressed with this effort. The song probably wouldn't be here however if it didn't bafflingly break the top 10 amongst their run of chart flops which almost no one cared enough for to nominate.

Two of the year's most high key annoying pop songs next. Caity Baser was one of the pop ladies the industry tried hard to push this year and she did end up having one hit out of it being 'Pretty Boys'. Thankfully it ended up stalling out early in its chart run although it ought to have not got there in the first place. We were at least saved from the next entry being a hit, coming from Anne-Marie after 'Psycho' bafflingly became a big top 5 hit, the public clearly decided 'Sad B!tch' was taking it a bit too far and it only spent one week in the chart. It's not over for her yet in the contest though. Meanwhile sitting with one point just outside the top 5 we have 'Twust' by some annoying TikToker and his mate, landing a top 40 position for one week off his fanbase. His rather off-putting personality may well have given the song more points than it otherwise would've had but that aside it's still a substandard dance-rap track.

I gave my 18 to 'Twust' too, I trust my votes were counted and that's just an oversight? x

It is an abhorrent song anyway but my distaste towards it is definitely amplified by the context around it (lest we forget he posted on Instagram that it was raising money for an autism charity and then deleted that, so he either changed his mind or was joking about it).

3 more horrors at #7-9 as well, 'SAD B!TCH' was not quite as bad as 'PSYCHO' but still borderline unlistenable (thankfully Anne-Marie's actual big hit of the year as lead artist was pretty good), Caity Baser is rapidly replacing Anne-Marie as my sleep paralysis demon pop girl as the only thing she's been involved with so far that I've not hated is 'Dance Around It', and 'Pakistan' is pretty close to peak DBE cringe, the worst song they charted this year (pending hearing their latest entry) so of course it was much bigger than everything else bar 'Prada'... which was their 2nd worst of the year for me lol ~ That's 4 of my top 5 out in one fell swoop, I suspect the other one has a good chance of winning though.

'Alone' was the only one of the top 10 I didn't vote for (it's fine x) so voting for the entire top 9!

DW your votes were counted, you just didn't come up in my Ctrl+F for finding "most hated" because you left out the artist names :P

#05. Meghan Trainor ~ Mother [167 points]

Most hated: Cow P, Maestro, coi, seven [+18]

UK peak: #22

In at #5 we have Meghan Trainor, having had a surprisingly big comeback at the turn of the year with 'Made You Look' she followed it up with an even more polarising song in 'Mother'. Inspired by the hot Gay Twitter meme of referring to iconic female performers as 'mother', Meghan does her "best" to try and put herself in the maternal role although many of us weren't buying it. The song also got negative attention for ruining one of the most iconic songs of the 1950s "Mr. Sandman" re-interpreting its backing vocals to calling someone a bum. The song also placed at #5 on popular critic site Rate Your Music's worst songs of the year (albeit behind four songs which weren't UK hits).
