Joseph are you done chart update or is Connor look after it

I will be!

Surprising. I thought the Vinyl would sell bigger in Ireland, I guess not.

I think all the records were sold via the one website which would have counted towards the UK chart so possibly no sales included in the final Irish chart.

Thanks all for joining, Merry Christmas to you all!! :cheer:

See you next Friday at 2pm for the Chart of the Year!

Thanks for the rundowns this year Joseph, Merry Christmas!

Next year I am thinking Band Aid 40

I heard that Midge Ure said that there will be no more Band Aid’s. I hope I’m wrong and that he does one next year. I’m surprised he didn’t do a Band Aid 10 in 1994

Well done to Wham! finally getting the Xmas #1 and winning me a nice £75  that was nice that they had Andrew Ridgeley on the show, he's also on the front page of the OCC website now, not that I'd ever recognise him without the caption  I do love Sam Ryder's personality and want to root for his music more but I'm unfortunately not really taking to his releases post 'SPACE MAN' very much and this song isn't an exception, very middling for me - I'm pretty sure I'm still yet to hear an Amazon Christmas song that I'd say I'm actually a fan of (I think Jorja Smith's might actually be my favourite one to chart to date lol, and that's still nothing amazing as I'm not that huge a fan of the original song but I think her cover is an interesting take on it). Kind of iconic that it continues his legacy of #2s though I guess

Real shame that no campaigning ever came through for The Pogues and they ended up actually falling a place out of the top 5 on the Christmas chart but nevermind, at least it got to go as high as #4 again a couple of weeks ago.

Ariana's continued avoidance of the top 10 is just cruel at this point - after being held out by Shaky 2 weeks ago, she overtook him last week, only to be re-overtaken and held out by him again this week! Yay for another new peak for Dean Martin at least ~ I'm slightly scared to hear the Cher song based on people's descriptions of it but good on her getting a solo top 20 hit deep into her 70s and even convincing Spotify to give her a solid slot on the main Christmas playlist somehow.

Creator Universe eating dust is very satisfying to see after suffering 5 years of LadBaby Christmas #1s, especially nice to see they didn't even beat the original Wizzard version.

 The Rolling Stones for the coveted Christmas #1 album, Bublé still yet to manage that outside his album's original year of release, though I expect he will get the post-Christmas chart #1 again as he did in 2020 and 2022.

(aside: I neither expect nor want there to be a Band Aid 40, the concept has run its course at this point, plus we just had 'Food Aid' to place some extra nails in its coffin)

I also neither expect nor want a Band Aid 40.

If it were to happen I imagine it's about the only thing that would tap into that LadBaby market and be able to pull off a download campaign #1 though.

I'm pretty sure I'm still yet to hear an Amazon Christmas song that I'd say I'm actually a fan of (I think Jorja Smith's might actually be my favourite one to chart to date lol, and that's still nothing amazing as I'm not that huge a fan of the original song but I think her cover is an interesting take on it).

Thanks so much for this. I initially wrote off the Jorja take as a dirge after hearing it once or twice on the chart show but after reading this, decided to give it a few more plays and watch the animated video. It's actually pretty haunting and brave for a Christmas cover - VERY Tori Amos (favourite female singer). Might fit my mood at various points over the Christmas season this year.

yes please no Band Aid 40, like if Band Aid 2 and all the ones that followed weren't bad enough
Next year bit strange one chart 27th December 2 day after Christmas how official chart gone do that chart if on Christmas break
And 2025 will be the first time since 2010 where the chart week ends on Christmas Day. It will be interesting to see the Thursday Christmas Day streams for that year as the Thursday streams seem to get lost
