What are you hopes for 2024? Also Happy New Year to everyone and thank you for sharing an incredible year for Kylie, you guys keep this place going and make it such a great place to visit!
December 31, 20231 yr Happy New Year everyone!! Loved the Padam Padam weekly drama, the stability and the playlists it managed to get on So much promo for album didn't happen and she would have had time, even with Vegas. Relied too much on Vegas. Even not performing on G Norton was a mistake Tension song was brilliant. Video was good, but too camp and could have been a slicker harder dance video or build on the Dance routine/Red of Padam Became a bit of a money grabbing campaign and her fans started to cause a slight backlash. Hopes KM17 or a few one off dance features with some current sounding DJ dance music. Less build up, check it out in summer. Less reliance on the LGBT crowd. Its hugely important but i still feel she alienates a % of people by doing that. She isn't going to change the camp drama but love a bit of darker house dance. As a gay man i find some of her fans a little crude, like that Padam video they did. Why the need for gays to sexualise everything Big collab from Tension album still but looking less likely. Hands still would be my choice or a One More Time feat Daft Punk sample Physicals - Such a key for her singles success. Better timed, better priced, postage reduced. Body Language vinyl to go top 5 on its release Christmas EP or a new Xmas Song with effort put into it. Edited December 31, 20231 yr by SmileyKylie
December 31, 20231 yr Happy New Year to you all. In general i think 2023 was a very good year for Kylie of course lead by the surprise of the year with Padam Padam going on to be Kylies most successful single in almost a decade. It was both a chart hit and probably equally as important these days a social media hit with is huge progress for Kylie. Tension the singles was another high point going Top 20, seeing Kylie score 2 back to back top 20 hits in 2023 was amazing and totally unexpected. I always felt it was a great choice as a single although i do see myself withdrawing a little from the song but i always knew it was that type of song, very good short term but a little of its time aswell. Hold on to now, my fave Kylie single since all the lovers, i adore the song and drives home to me why i like Kylies music, i am truly disappointed but how badly handled it was by BMG as it deserved to be a top 75 hit at the very very worst. Charts aside, i will continue to appreciate the song and be lucky that i know it exists and that i get to enjoy it. Tension the album going number 1 was also another high and as an album i am very happy with it, bmg totally on a role with Kylie albums and long may it last. While the album has done well i do feel it wasnt handled aswell as it could have been and played 2nd fiddle to the Vegas shows which ideally would have taken place in 2024 so Kylie could have really promoted the album as i do feel it had far more potential with sales. Radio 2 in the Park and an audience with were also great shows and we seen many great performances and i think vocally Kylie was been brilliant live in 2023. 2024 I would like Tension to be re released with the extended version as the bonus cd and also maybe 2 new songs with 1 been a new single. When doing singles bmg need to have things timed better, i love the 3 physical format release they have done so far but they need to be timed to be released together and i agree there is room for pricing to be improved. Body Language i wish it well but its not a release im hugely excited about as i dont have great love for the album. Im really hoping for a tour announcement aswell.
January 1, 20241 yr I can't grumble really, I never thought she'd even make the top 40 again (outside of Christmas).so to witness what happened with Padam was beyond my wildest dreams, I still can't quite believe it. And also the bonus tip 20 with Tension. The way Hold On to Now has been messed up is unfortunate, as is how the album's release has almost felt like an afterthought but at the end of the day I'm more than happy with the album she's given us and I'm willing to forgo these things for the magic and excitement I got from watching her defy all the odds and smash it (again - never write her off!) I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next year, I'm hoping the Tension era isn't completely abandoned from here and maybe perhaps a tour announcement. I'm pleased for her with the Vegas thing and all but I genuinely couldn't give a shit in all honesty.
January 1, 20241 yr Happy New Year :cheer: Highlights Padam, Padam getting a viral moment and going Top 10, I really didn’t think we would see a Top 10 solo single in the streaming era. Tension going Top 20 - after PP I thought we might revert to the #56 hits. The pop up shop - it was mostly overpriced tat (:kink:) but it was such a fun experience to have it local and to camp out overnight for opening day etc Tension going to #1, KM88 returning to the Top 30. Frustrations That Vegas coincided with her big return to singles success in the UK No tour announcement yet, it’s been forever since the Golden tour Lack of promo generally and uber focus on the USA which yielded similar results to what she usually achieves there 2024 Hopes I kind of want them to move on from trying to milk Tension - it’s felt very much a side project to support Vegas sadly and personally I’m not here for more rehashed re-issues for the album, by all means give us further singles but leave the vinyl formats alone now A UK/European tour
January 1, 20241 yr Tension as an album was much better than the first three singles. Like many others, I would never have predicted Kylie would have achieved another T10 single so that was a massive plus. However, I still think the title track should never have been a single and is one of the worst tracks on the album alongside 10 out of 10. Although the album got to no1, it didn’t hang around half as long as the last two BMG albums and promotion was a bit limb. Hooefully, the album will get a further boost through a good reissue campaign with a strong single.
