Decent race. Probably the right result but I feel Lewis ruined his chances on Saturday somewhere.

Nice to see Ocon hasn't learned anything either. Gasly had a slim chance to attack Ricciardo at the end but Esteban purposely delayed the switch long enough to screw it up. He probably still doesn't understand why he's being dropped

It's gonna take something special to oust that from the race of the season! One of those classics that you didn't know who would win until the last 15 or so laps until George made that costly mistake. I was having 2011 flashbacks (in more ways than one) where he might reel in Max on the last lap but alas we still got some great battles between Merc and McLaren, I'm sure it'll be yet another false dawn for the Silver Arrows though. And Ferrari showing they're still about a million years away from challenging for the title.

Apparently Ocon has signed for Haas? Right now that feels like an upgrade somehow but at least Alpine are getting in the points most weeks now.

Followed stats on youtube and watched the highlights on youtube

Thought Haas played a blinder early on but their advantage was removed by the safety car (always a risk in Montreal).

Do feel a bit for George and Lando - especially the latter, who would surely have won the race right?

Awful race for Perez and Sargeant. Logan showed some promise but another mistake and another retirement. Put him out of his misery already......

Norris was in a very good position before the SC but in a reverse of Miami, this time luck went against him. Not certain he'd have still won it but would have been in a strong position and in control of his chances at least. George blew his own race once again with 3 errors - 2 off tracks and an ill timed attempt on Piastri. Hamilton was the better of the 2 Mercs yesterday and had he not messed up qualifying would has been a threat.

Presumably Perez has a whole bunch of unreleased screenshots from Horner because his new contract is hard to fathom on driving alone (I know Red Bull don't see many other options right now).

Verstappen put in another impressive and mature performance yesterday to win in difficult conditions with (somewhat in Checo's defence) a car that has looked some way short of the best this year, since everyone brought their upgrades along.

Haha^ I think they just went for the safe boring choice but there's a real chance it could cost them the constructors this season. If F1 was a spec series I'm almost certain Perez would qualify last every single race, such is how bad he is and always has been at qualifying. But they want to retain the harmony in the team as he'll never be a threat to Max and of course there's the Mexican sponsorship money coming in.

But realistically I don't think Yuki is ready yet for a top seat and there's little other options elsewhere. Highly doubt Sainz is gonna want to jump from playing #2 at Ferrari to #2 at Red Bull.

what a disastrous race x poor Ferrari

and Perez too, not really sure how tRB can justify extending his contract

Agree with almost everything there but not sure Perez is that bad, more bang average but qaulifying is a weakness, especially when temps are lower. Sainz wasn't seriously entertained at Red Bull because of he and Max's past experience with each other. Marko described their pairing as toxic so it was not an option apparently.

Yeah Perez brings so much money with him he’s basically undropable until Red Bull Powertrains is up and running fully and is still hoovering up capital like a coke addict at a talcum factory

Ocon was basically the definition of malicious compliance with the team order switch. I’m glad they didn’t reset the order at the end like theoretically they should have. His radio and interviews after was extremely telling as to his attitude and why he was not retained. If he is off to haas good luck to them coz they have no idea what they’ve gotten themselves into

There's still a genuine possibility that Verstappen could be tempted to Mercedes given the new regulations (Newey departing, Red Bull's own engine being untested and a greater focus on the power unit for 2026) would suggest that there's every possibility that Mercedes could provide a better package than Red Bull might. Whilst I've little doubt that Verstappen could see off any other current driver in an equal car, there are a few on the grid who would give him a hard time with it - Leclerc, Hamilton, Norris, Piastri and Alonso mainly - so the unwritten agreement is that Red Bull want to keep things calm to stop him looking elsewhere. After all we've seen many times in the past how two elite drivers, free to race in a top team can be disastrous and even tragic. Every body loves it but it's actually pretty rare and in my nearly 50 years of watching I've only seen it three times - Alonso/Hamilton, Senna/Prost, Villeneuve/Pironi (sorry Nico, just not quite there for me).
Could maybe also add Mansell & Piquet to that list? Got very personal (mostly from Piquet *shock*) and there was that awful Mansell crash at Suzuka 87.
Is Ocon to Haas confirmed? replacing Magnussen I assume? although I thought he had another year of contract?
Yeah I expect they'll announce Ocon & Bearman as the Haas drivers for next season fairly soon. Clearly they don't trust K-Mag to be the lead driver and he's on borrowed time anyway given his performances relative to Hulk over the past season and a half.
and where is Hulkenberg moving to?
oh wish Sainz does the same, Audi would be a great team with Sainz/Hulk

Actually, yes. Don't know why that one slipped my mind. Must be getting old.

Sainz is reportedly in serious negotiation with Williams, which actually looks a decent shout

I suppose that would (finally) confirm an end to Logan's F1 career.

Just seems incredibly sad that Carlos is getting shunted to a weaker team when Perez/Stroll are still there.....
