'I Was Gonna Cancel' is not a single which is loved a lot by the fanbase, but in the 2023's streaming it became the highest track from 'Kiss Me Once' by the amount of Spotify streams. I have a soft spot for this song, but it is a shame that it started to overshadow a much superior 'Into the Blue'.

'Greatest Hits compilations leading tracks rising' section, with both 'Timebomb' and 'I Believe in You' rising and the former leapfrogging over the latter in the process. I am especially happy for 'Timebomb', as the release schedule and initial reception didn't do it justice.

It is also the section with the two remaining 'Body Language' singles - 'Slow' and 'Chocolate', both slipping down, unlike their companion 'Red Blooded Woman' which managed to rise a bit.

And we have three more 'Tenstion' tracks, 'Vegas High' leading the pack.

Albums update

As in the whole countdown, the streams of 2023 are compared to the streams of the period from August 2020 till August 2022.

Place 2023 Place 20-22 Album name Streams

1 2 Fever 188,225,082

2 N Tension 167,066,629

3 3 Kylie Christmas 54,402,190

4 1 DISCO 45,212,185

5 4 Light Years 25,005,774

6 5 Kylie 23,382,675

7 6 Aphrodite 16,505,930

8 7 X 11,387,846

9 9 Body Language 7,941,188

10 10 Rhythm of Love 5,357,974

11 8 Golden 5,262,734

12 11 Enjoy Yourself 4,241,615

13 12 Kiss Me Once 3,428,421

14 13 Kylie Minogue 2,169,823

15 14 Impossible Princess 1,674,156

16 15 Let's Get to It 728,589

Not many surprises here, with 'DISCO' and 'Golden' slipping further down. So 'Tension', unlike 'DISCO', only managed to debut at 2 and wasn't able to take over 'Fever'. And here's why...

Albums ranged by change of the annual 2023 streams to average yearly streams of the period from 2020-2022

Album name Change

1 Fever 89%

2 Kylie 20%

3 Aphrodite 19%

4 Let's Get to It 11%

5 Light Years 10%

6 Enjoy Yourself 0,5%

7 X -1%

8 Body Language -2%

9 Kylie Christmas -3%

10 Impossible Princess -9%

11 Rhythm of Love -15%

12 Kylie Minogue -15%

13 Kiss Me Once -17%

14 Golden -36%

15 DISCO -56%

As you can see here, we have a classic situation here of rich getting richer. 'Padamic' made a very uneven effect on Kylie's catalogue streams, with 'Fever' almost doubling its streams and getting most of the limelight. In fact, 9 of the 15 older albums lost in streaming, even if only just. Other 'signature' Kylie albums, like 'Kylie' and 'Aphrodite', as well as 'Light Years', received quite a significant boost.

The only standout here is the poor brave 'Let's Get To It', which rose by 11%, but it is still extremely far to even out with 'Impossible Princess', which does 1.7m streams per year.

Would not have expected Chocolate to be top 40 but im happy for it as its one of the very few highlight from body language,. better the devil you know i always expect to be higher as myself included is loved by fans.

With albums lets get to it really is the forgotten album.

Surprised that Chocolate is outperforming Dancing at this point!

Timebomb outperforming far bigger hits is interesting to see too.

I get the feeling that the public doesn’t really view Better the Devil You Know as a huge signature hit, not to the extent that the fanbase views it. Compare it being 32nd on Spotify to 3rd in the recent Radio 2 vote (which I feel mainly would have attracted the interest of fans).

Put Yourself In My Place is criminally low ! As is what do i have to do!

Pleased red blooded woman went up!

That's true re BTDYK, for myself I have known and loved the song most of my life so part of me assumes it's the same for others but I have to say that from.people I know who aren't necessarily kylie fans do know the song but I guess it doesn't mean they all like it.
  • Author
To me BTDYK is doing very decently, given - yes - it wasn't that huge of a hit for Kylie and it didn't break through to the USA (which is a huge market, so it helps some other Kylie songs that were received better there), and the fact that it is still a number 5 pre-Parlo Kylie song on this countdown. What is more surprising to me is how flat the 'Rhythm of Love' album tracks fare, they're kind of in the vein of 'Let's Get to It'!

30    Things We Do For Love    Tension    3 320 704    3 320 704

Worth mentioning the 5 million threshold which was conquered by 25 Kylie songs in 2023!

'Especially for You' managed a very good year and even climbed a bit, overtaking 'I Should Be So Lucky', which fell off the top-20.

I don't know whether the label was involved, but it looks like Spotify has totally reconsidered playlisting of Kylie Christmas songs, many of them going all over the place: some fall quite significantly, like 'At Christmas', and some gaining a LOT of traction like 'It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year'. Overall the Christmas tracks have lost in streaming compared to the previous period, but only by just a bit - probably due to the principal 'Santa Baby' being kicked off the major Christmas playlist.

'Things We Do for Love' is the biggest album track for 'Tension' so far, but 'Vegas High' might challenge it long-term. That if nothing else from the album is given a major push, which seems more likely with each month.

WIth a big help of RuPaul, 'Supernova' is incredibly stable here, only slipping one place and even overtaking 'Say Something'.

And some amazing classics are in this section - On a Night Like This, In My Arms and Come Into My World.

Now the next part might give quite a bit of pain to 'Impossible Princess' fans, because...

Some singles and highlights outside of the top-100

101 Did It Again | Impossible Princess

103 Can't Stop Writing Songs About You | DISCO

104 Breathe | Impossible Princess

107 Shocked | Rhythm of Love

109 Sexercize | Kiss Me Once

113 Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love) | Aphrodite

115 Better Than Today | Aphrodite

118 All I See | X

125 Golden | Golden

127 Give Me Just a Little More Time | Let's Get to It

128 Some Kind of Bliss | Impossible Princess

131 GBI (German Bold Italic) | Other - feature

138 Giving You Up | Other

139 A Lifetime to Repair | Golden

142 If You Were with Me Now | Let's Get to It

154 Finer Feelings | Let's Get to It

163 What Kind of Fool? (Heard All That Before) | Other

192 Word Is Out | Let's Get to It

205 Where Is The Feeling | Kylie Minogue

So yes, 'Did It Again' finished at 101 and 'Breathe' finished at 104, which is a big shame. But frankly both were slipping in streams, and it was very tough for those to fight against the 15 new entries, as well as some climbers from her imperial eras.

Another thing that puzzles me is how 'Where is the Feeling' didn't even make the top-200, being below even 'Falling' and 'Surrender' - album tracks from KM94. I mean it is not her signature hit, but should do at least better than that?

Did It Again is one of my faves !! Love it !! Would be in my top 10!

18    Real Groove    DISCO    6 365 706
19    Chiggy Wiggy    Other    6 343 542
20    Kids    Light Years    6 048 876

And the two awards 'The biggest climber' with 'The most random resurgence' go to... Chiggy Wiggy! :magic: It gained almost 1.5 times more streams in 2023 alone than in its whole existence before. Frankly I don't know what exactly happened there, as I checked the playlist reach, and, while it grew through the year, it isn't anything spectacular. Neither did I notice any TikTok trend... yet here we are!

'Kids' is one of the main reasons I'm combining the songs versions, as its streams are split equally between the Robbie album and Kylie album. And now there's a XXV version for Robbie. The Robbie version gained some traction in the end of the year, so I expect it to climb again in 2024.

'10 out of 10' was just a bit shy of doing the total magic of 10's, but it just fell short in the last minute. 'Hold On To Now' debuts at 14 and hopefully it holds well next year.

'Get Outta My Way' and 'All the Lovers' have switched places, and the former is about to overtake the overall streams of the latter too.

'Real Groove' also fell beyond 'Magic' but is still far above in combined streams, with three versions generating a lot of them - album version, Dua Lipa version and the Initial Talk mix. But the highest track from DISCO now is 'A Second to Midnight'.

And finally, the Nick Cave collab 'Where the WIld Roses Grow' is going consistently strong, only slipping a place.

... 'Say Something', 'Magic' and 'Real Groove' all fell from the previous top-10, which means we have two new entries (easy to guess which) and one climber (that one is a bit trickier). All will be revealed tomorrow, while now I'll provide with some extra stats.

Honouring 'Chiggy Wiggy', let's see who else has gained the most and the least in 2023 to its total streams as of 1st of January of 2023.

Top-25 gainers:

Track short Album short Growth in 2023 to total of 31.12.2022

1 Chiggy Wiggy Other 144%

2 Slow / Love to Love You Baby Other 88%

9 Baby Fever 42%

10 Turn It into Love Kylie 41%

11 Can't Get You out of My Head Fever 41%

12 A Second to Midnight DISCO 38%

13 Especially for You Other - feature 35%

14 Can't Get Blue Monday out of My Head Fever 35%

15 Light Years Light Years 34%

16 Love at First Sight Fever 34%

25 Secrets Rhythm of Love 30%

26 Made of Glass Other 28%

27 The Loco-Motion Kylie 28%

28 Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here Kylie Christmas 28%

29 Look My Way Kylie 27%

30 I Should Be So Lucky Kylie 27%

Both Towa Tei tracks are going well, probably still enjoying the low base effect, as well as the two 'Infinite Disco' tracks, but the 'Slow' mashup clearly has its own life at this point. But it is also worth mentioning the GBI grew from 154 to 131 in the overall ranking, so it's definitely picking up.

'If You Were With Me Now' also grew from 161 to 142 in overall ranking and helped boosting 'Let's Get To It' finally.

Another interesting fact that both older duplicates with the same naming (Love At First Sight and Closer) are here. People probably searched the newer versions and got these instead.

Another curious case is with 'Baby' where a troll fan said it was a 'Tension' leak, which generated quite an interest.

And the fact that 'Can't Get You out of My Head' managed to be in this list says a lot how huge it was, as it already had by far the biggest amount of streams and managed to add almost a half of that in 2023 alone.

Now to the most stale songs:

1 If You Don't Love Me Kylie Minogue 2%

2 The Other Boys Other - feature 2%

3 Beautiful Kiss Me Once 3%

4 This Wheel's on Fire Other 3%

5 Rollin' Golden 3%

6 Right Here, Right Now Other - feature 3%

7 If I Can't Have You (feat. Sam Sparro) Other 3%

8 Absolutely Anything and Anything At All (From "Absolutely Anything") Other 3%

9 Into the Blue Kiss Me Once 4%

10 A Lifetime to Repair Golden 4%

11 Sexy Love Kiss Me Once 4%

12 Breathe / Les Sex - Intro Kiss Me Once 4%

13 Sincerely Yours Golden 4%

14 Million Miles Kiss Me Once 4%

15 Every Little Part of Me Golden 4%

16 Raining Glitter Golden 4%

17 One Last Kiss Golden 4%

18 Low Blow Golden 4%

19 Live a Little Golden 4%

20 Only You (with James Corden) Kylie Christmas 4%

21 Fine Kiss Me Once 4%

22 Shelby '68 Golden 4%

23 Golden Golden 5%

24 Love Golden 5%

25 Radio On Golden 5%

26 Mr. President Kiss Me Once 5%

27 If Only Kiss Me Once 5%

28 Feels so Good Kiss Me Once 5%

29 Les Sex Kiss Me Once 5%

30 Stop Me from Falling Golden 5%

Here it is mainly the 'Golden' and 'Kiss Me Once' cemetery. Some of them still managed to make it into the top-100 streamed songs overall though, due to high base. 'If You Don't Love Me' somehow leads the stale pack, but it looks like it got a boost from somewhere which didn't last long. It has an unusually high amount of streams overall with the acoustic version of it having 1.45 million streams.

Averagely the older songs gained by 22% in 2023 to its streams tally as of 31.12.2022.

what is chiggy wiggy never heard of it !

It is from soundtrack to the Indian 'Blue' movie produced by A.R. Rahman in 2009! It also has quite a high-budget music video to it.
