I was thinking about the new songs and this article. Could it be that he had finalized the album already last year and they thought the movie would raise the profile of Rob in the USA plus give him mo

FYI I merged a previous 'RW - TBA' thread and the newest one 'RW - BRITPOP' together.

I can finally reveal that I have the pleasure and honour of being the artist behind the painting on the cover of Robbie Williams' new album "Britpop"! 😁 The cover and Robbie's new single "Rocket" was

I believe only what I see. If all what he had promised coming 'soon' or 'coming' would have been done, then thee would be far more to talk about rather than inklings and whatever fills the time. Rob's/his management time planning is very stretchable :-)

I'm guessing to coincide with the movie (whenever that will be) :cheer:

The fact that he's doing Hyde Park makes me think it will be in early summer.

In other news, I do have an album ready to go. It won’t be coming for a while, BUT for shits and giggles - What would you call my album if you were in charge of me? :cheer:

Around movie release time Elisabeth :)
  • 2 months later...

During one of yesterday interviews on a red carpet he mentioned the new album news: yes, it's coming and depends on the movie's success.

If all will be well, then the album will be released very soon, if not - then later.

I find it all a but confusing tbh , recently he mentioned there would be some new music in the upcoming tour but they are definitely holding off announcing it

In my opinion, it's a question of time between February vs. June.

You know, now it's the movie time but it also a promo time.

And because there is no time to promote the new album at the moment, the movie can be his and its promotion. But if you want to sell more copies you need better promo OR big hype from something.

So if the movie will be succesfull, then of course people will buy the album even without special album promo.

So, in opposite side if it will not be so succesful movie then he needs to choose another time when his profile would be higher.

Then June time frame with his Tour is another good opportunity for album release.

Well, it's just my thoughts :)

I guess we will know more as it gets nearer to the tour date . It makes sense that he would add some new music from the album to the upcoming tour

I get what you say though Alex ..

Excerpt taken for Rob's interview with The Face magazine where he talks briefly about the album

What can you tell us about your new album that’s coming next year?

There’s been so many iterations of it. I wanted to write an album knowing everything that I know. So, what album would I have made leaving Take That? I wanted to return to 1996. Along the way, hit‑y sounding things have turned up that have got nothing to do with that whatsoever. So I started off with one thing, and it’s becoming something else.

Are you working with anyone?

People in my band. A guy called Freddie Wexler, a songwriter-producer in the States that got Billy Joel to [get back to writing]. So Freddie’s becoming the dinosaur whisperer. Oh, Gaz Coombes [from Supergrass]! And Chris Martin’s played on something. Glenn Hughes from Deep Purple’s played on something. Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath’s played on something.

You’re kidding?

No! Yeah, I know – Black Sabbath to Deep Purple!

Snippet from NME interview - album related :)

Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath reportedly appears on ‘Rocket’, a song from your new album… cool2.gif

RW: “And Glenn Hughes! I wanted to make the album that I’d make if I’d left Take That now, knowing what I know. This particular song encapsulates that perfectly. Unfortunately and fortunately for me, pop songs turned up along the way, too. I’m like: ‘Ah, f*** – a hit!’ This [track] is massive guitars, as you can imagine. It’s adrenaline-filled and balls-to-the-wall. That one in particular is my favourite song off my new album – that I’ve just announced is happening!”

When’s it out?

RW: “I dunno – let’s see how well the film does…”

MG: “No pressure”

‘Better Man’ is released in UK and Irish cinemas on December 26

But this part is something new for us, isn't it ;)

For fans eagerly awaiting new music, Robbie has good news.

“Yes, a new album will likely release in April or May, depending on how the film does,” he shares. “My biggest hits have come from pain, but I’m not going back into misery to write a song.”
