'Gas Me Up' is a banger but one of the reasons that it must be this high up in the chart is the publicity due to that absolutely disgusting cover art which it was supposed to have.

Biography

The way she tells it, Megan Thee Stallion only jumped on the mic to impress a guy. She’d been writing, but she hadn’t really opened it up in public before. But this was college, and the boys were freestyling, and she’d had a couple of drinks. “I didn’t know how it was gonna turn out,” she told Apple Music in 2019. “I just knew I wasn’t finna look weak.” Rapper, yes: clever, commanding, funny, filthy. But she's also become a kind of avatar for supreme self-confidence, the Hot Girl out to make Hotness broader, more inclusive, a state you embrace for yourself instead of having conferred on you by someone else. Born Megan Pete in 1995 and raised in the South Park neighborhood of Houston, the Up Next honoree and 2020 Apple Music Awards Breakthrough Artist of the Year grew up on hardcore Southern stuff: Three 6 Mafia and UGK, Pimp C especially. Early cyphers went viral—the presence was ferocious, the flow precise. Her key tracks, from tunes like “Big Ole Freak” to the 2020 Cardi B collaboration juggernaut “WAP,” don't just carry the torch of Houston rap but a legacy of trash talk that goes back to Lil’ Kim and The Notorious B.I.G.—characters so big they read like comic books (Pete is, unsurprisingly, a lifelong anime fan). Like any great rapper, she can put the same few things to you a thousand different ways. “Put him on his knees, give him somethin' to believe in,” she raps on Cardi B's “WAP.” And in case Megan's intentions weren’t clear, consider this, from “Captain Hook”: “I like to drink and I like to have sex.” Weak? Doesn’t seem like an issue. - Apple Music

Is the Gas Me Up (Diligent) single cover meant to be like that?

Yup - it's a replacement for a grossly offensive cover that was initially revealed.

Is the Gas Me Up (Diligent) single cover meant to be like that?

yes

it had originally a ‘proper’ single cover but it was removed for being too controversial/distasteful so replaced with the blank cover art

The first rap diss UK Top 40 track since 'Killshot' by Eminem and 'Rap Devil' by Machine Gun Kelly?
I think Megan has done MUCH better but think this will set her up well in the future and as far as diss tracks go it's still really good. Also any opportunity to make Nicki look like the clown she is.
yay for Megan being comfortably top 40 this week (and thanks to Nicki for giving it a boost with her overreaction I guess)

Did 'Still Disappointed' by Stormzy not chart in 2020?

Biography

Canadian singer, dancer, and actress Tate McRae balances emotive, intimate alternative pop and pulse-pounding, R&B-inflected dancepop. Following her viral emergence in 2017, she released her debut EP, 2020's All the Things I Never Said, featuring the Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell co-write "Tear Myself Apart." She followed with her first Billboard Top 20 hit, "You Broke Me First," from 2021's Too Young to Be Sad EP. McRae delivered her debut album, I Used to Think I Could Fly, the following year, hitting the top 5 in Canada and cracking the top 20 of the Billboard 200. In 2023, she released her mainstream breakthrough, Think Later. - Apple Music

Oh yes, it chart at #21 back in 2020.

HISS wasn't something I'd go back to but it's clearly made to be more of a statement track and it's great in that sense. Glad Nicki hasn't made the top 40 x
Hiss becoming Meg's first solo song to debut in the UK top 40! :cheeseblock:
