October 28, 2024Oct 28 Author Herbilore would like to announce they are exiting BJSC It’s been pushing my time with work and social commitments and if I’m honest I feel too much of an outsider. I even sent a generic and good pop song this month, got loads of predictions to qualify and still didn’t come close. Thanks to all who have made me feel welcome. I will probably vote in the final….
October 28, 2024Oct 28 very sorry about the withdrawal  many songs were robbed of a place in the final hope to see you back when you feel like it again x
October 28, 2024Oct 28 Author very sorry about the withdrawal  many songs were robbed of a place in the final hope to see you back when you feel like it again x Thanks for your comment. It means a lot To be honest I think it’d be a low chance of me re-entering. The last one deflated me and this one has left a really bad taste in my mouth.

It would be a shame to see you go. Our tastes are completely different, but I have always appreciated that you send music you genuinely love — which I know can make it more even disappointing. I just hope you see that your entries have been valued. They have connected and resonated with people, even if they haven’t connected with everyone.
October 29, 2024Oct 29 Very sad to hear this Herbs, you've been a breath of fresh air in the contest for me with some different kinds of entries that nobody else sends. I've voted for several of your entries in the semis. Last month's from Hymn For A Woman was spectacularly robbed - it would have been my 18 in the final if only I'd had the opportunity to support it. One of my favourite discoveries this year. Celestial Skies' Forget Me Not was such a lovely song too. I think semi draws play a huge part in this and you've been on the unlucky side of several of them recently. Salt Ashes on paper looked safe, so I do understand the predictions it had, but personally I always think it's tricky to send a past winning act because the weight of expectation is higher - voters maybe go in with more of an idea about what they might hear (or think they want to hear) than when they listen to a song by an artist they have no existing opinions on (with the caveat of course that not everyone was present when she won in 2016). I definitely think you have been a great addition though, and I hope you can pop back in from time to time when you have something you love that you want to share with us. I would always be delighted to see you back.

I'll never say never, but this contest has pretty much destroyed my confidence with it so it's a 'very unlikely' for now!

October 30, 2024Oct 30 Author Hmmmm Herbilore are considering cancelling our exit….. This months competition has done the pop leaning songs dirty (in my opinion) and I want to be able to try and help with that moving forward…..

January 20Jan 20 Author BJSC 171 - Alexis Strum As we go into 2025, Herbilore are hoping to qualify with their BJSC171 entry, 'Karma' by 'Alexis Strum' Alexis Strum was on the brink of success in the mid-2000's, with 'It Could Be You', a stunning and beautiful ballad getting a large number of plays on music video channels. For some reason it never worked out and the release of 'It Could Be You' got cancelled. Fast forward almost 20 years and Alexis was offered a record deal to finally release her album and to release this new track. There are some lovely easter eggs in the music video & of course that killer line 'Alexa, play Taylor Swift Karma' Final Position: 25th in SF1 Points scored: 25 Thanks to the following nations for points: * Cheiron - 7pts * Conoria - 7pts * Altyr Muunilinst - 6pts * New Lexico - 4pts * FSR Rontvia - 1pt _Nj9bu9Bc7s Edited January 27Jan 27 by Herbs

February 18Feb 18 Author BJSC 172 - Sleeping At Last Time for the next contest. It feels inevitable that Herbilore are destined to break the consecutive NQ record, so for BJSC 172 we’ve gone back to our melancholy/ethereal routes with an entry that aims to make you feel, rather than make you rush to vote for us. Or maybe our thing is planets and sending ‘Mercury’ by Sleeping At Last will accompany ‘Hometown of Jupiter’ as our only other qualifier! Sleeping at Last started off as a band but now, like one of our other fave artists Passenger, is a solo project led by singer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan O’Neal.
