Biography

Talk about an unexpected career trajectory. In 2007, 23-year-old Calvin Harris released I Created Disco, a cheeky shot across dance music’s bow that presented him as Scotland’s brow-arched answer to LCD Soundsystem. Fast-forward a few years, and the scruffy fellow playing house-party host in the “Merrymaking at My Place” video is suddenly baring oil-slicked abs on Emporio Armani billboards. What happened, of course, is that Harris (born Adam Richard Wiles in 1984) traded up from the Amiga computer of his teens, developed some of the best studio chops in the business with deep-house rollers like 2013's “Thinking About You”, and helped spark EDM’s pop crossover with hits for Rihanna, Florence Welch, Ellie Goulding and others. Along the way, he became one of the 2010s’ first DJ/producer/songwriter polymaths to earn top billing even on the songs in which he didn’t sing. No stranger to pyro-lit main stages—his percussive, synth-strafed 2014 single “C.U.B.A.” is big-room house at its most gargantuan—Harris has resisted getting boxed into any one sound. On 2017’s Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1, he lays down a set of slinky R&B jams for Frank Ocean, Migos and Young Thug, while the 2018 singles “Promises”, with Sam Smith, and “One Kiss”, with Dua Lipa, proved just how versatile his vision of pop can be. - Apple Music

Also I think her highest debut? And with a surprise release that's pretty good going!

Joint highest with Kill Bill

Good to see this climb for this Calvin song. It's far from his best though, I never liked Rag'n'Bone Man vocals.

Biography

Looking back at her breakthrough successes in the early 2000s, pop singer Natasha Bedingfield knows exactly why her music connected on such a massive scale. As she tells Apple Music, “It had this innocent positivity that comes from real-life situations and sometimes a lot of pain—but going through that and being uplifted.” Born in 1981, the West Sussex native comes by that inspirational power honestly: Among her pre-fame pursuits was writing and singing for the London branch of the Hillsong contemporary-worship empire. But with its shimmering fusion of Alanis’ edgy alt-pop and Lauryn Hill’s empowering R&B, Bedingfield’s 2004 solo debut, Unwritten, refashioned her as secular crossover star, albeit one whose catwalk-ready swagger was undercut by a self-effacing relatability. On her first UK No. 1 hit, “These Words,” she demystifies her own songwriting process in a manner that suggests you should try it too, while the album's dew-sparkled titled track is a rapturous ode to tapping your inner creativity (a message that got somewhat clouded when it became the theme song to MTV’s posh-kid hate-watch The Hills). Bedingfield continued to radiate positivity throughout the decade, via upbeat funky bops like “I Wanna Have Your Babies” and 2008’s self-explanatory “Pocketful of Sunshine.” After taking an extended hiatus—marked by one-off collaborations, TV gigs, and new motherhood—Bedingfield resurfaced with 2019’s Linda Perry-produced Roll With Me, which saw the singer coloring her motivational stories with an expanded musical palette of Caribbean rhythms and old-school ‘60s soul. “When you write a hit song, you can easily get caught in a trap where you’re trying to write songs that everyone will like,” Bedingfield tells Apple Music. “But we’re all in our own lane and we all have to evolve and grow.” - Apple Music

I thought Rag'n'Bone Man and Teddy Swims were the same person. :P
Shame Unwritten wasn't a bo.1 back in 2004!! The songs that were around it and above it are all forgotten now. Throwaway commercial hits.
It's going to be hard for Ella to have the top 10 with Alibi... :(

Biography

Bursting on to the scene in 2014, at just 18-years-old Ella Henderson went on to achieve global success with her debut single, ‘Ghost.’ Co-written with Ryan Tedder, the song became the fastest-selling debut single from any British Artist in 2014. That same year, Ella’s debut album, ‘Chapter One,’ (Salaam Remi, Babyface, Steve Mac, TMS) spawned her first Platinum selling album, making her one of only 3 UK artists to break Platinum in 2014. A revered artist, in 2015 Ella received two prestigious BRIT Award nominations for 'Best British Female' and 'Best British Single', rounding off the year with a landmark sell-out UK headline tour, which included two shows at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Following a whirlwind few years, Ella returned to the studio to being work on her next project. During the process she continued to collaborate with some of the biggest names in music, appearing on hits produced by superstar DJ’s Kygo and Sigma. She also returned to the live stage, touring with the likes of Take That, James Arthur and Rudimental, the latter of whom signed her to a new record deal with their label Major Toms/Asylum. For Ella, this marked a brand new start. “I want it to be fresh,” says the 23-year-old. “The industry's changed so drastically since I last released music over four years ago. I want to embrace that. I want to treat everything like it's a clean slate.” - Spotify

Unwrotten yasss!!!

CAR better than Tanning Seasons, which will be up next 100%

As it's not, we now get a whole YEAR of you shutting tf up about VB! :cheer: :yahoo:

Aww shame it's not Ella's 10th UK top 10 yet. :(

I think 'Lovers In A Past Life' is a bit underrated on here, not Calvin's best work by any means but still pretty good imo and miles better than 'Desire'. Think I like it more than 'Giant' too.

Natasha having a very consistent run since her return, cool to see a new high for this run but shame she's stalling just short of the top 10!

Not heard 'Saturn' yet but consider my interest piqued if it's being compared to 'Good Days' (her best song for me).

I still don't mind 'Alibi' but also not gagging for it to go top 10 (I'm sure it still will anyway).
