March 28, 20241 yr I posted Rooney in the 2007 flops but they had another top 75 with this in 2004! 8LhZ6k5VxLw?si=aFgm4Ap2l3lEwPMu
March 29, 20241 yr Janet Jackson - Just A Little While This deserved SO much better! :( Such a great and underrated song! iYxxAARt2Gc
March 29, 20241 yr Again, totally forgot about that one! It was the only ever Janet record I owned.
April 2, 20241 yr VS had a 2 top 20 hits but unfortunately they didn't last long at all. Their debut single - Love You Like Mad - spent a modest 5 weeks top 40 (with a #7 peak) but their other singles didn't last long at all! They were promoted a lot and given a decent push, but for some reason they never took off the way they deserved to! </3 They were also set to release a cover of Chicago's 'If You Leave Me Now' (to capitalise on the "singing cherry advert" that was hugely popular at the time! Lol) but it seems that that was scrapped and they were then dropped. Simon Webbe (from Blue) managed them iirc. Call U Sexy #11 [11-23-38-47-56-70] 7v1Q3MMDmRQ Make It Hot #29 [29-57] 5VSTb24Jflo If You Leave Me Now DNC (Cancelled) iuLLTx1lHGI
April 2, 20241 yr Another brief mention in the 2008 thread pointed me towards another very short lived group (like VS) POP. SO GOOD! I loved them and was gutted when their songs didn't really become hits </3 Heaven On Earth #14 [14-61] T5aja5GgULA - Can't Say Goodbye #26 [26-44-68] f_69wUk9g28 - Serious #16 (early 2005 - but was their last single) [16-32-50] QFDFn-EdO8M All 3 deserved to be huge hits. I can't help but feel that if the singles were switched around (literally Serious - CSG - H&E) then their fortunes may have been a little better! That or they shouldn't have been marketed as a pop act like STEPS and more almost "anonymous" somewhat and just pushed forward with the Clubland-lite sound of the first 2 singles.
April 2, 20241 yr Looove 'Serious' so much  I feel like that was an attempt to re-launch them with a more slick/mature sound months later, but that was always gonna be a struggle.
April 3, 20241 yr Alicia Keys - Karma I don't think this even charted as it wasn't released as a proper single in almost every country outside America. EUMC_raxpSc Edited April 3, 20241 yr by One_For_Sorrow

April 3, 20241 yr Alicia Keys - Karma I don't think this even charted as it wasn't released as a proper single in almost every country outside America. EUMC_raxpSc I always thought this was a single :o i remember it playing a lot on the music channels at the time.
April 3, 20241 yr I always thought this was a single :o i remember it playing a lot on the music channels at the time. It was played a lot on radio and tv here but it never hit a proper release and so it never charted. I think it would’ve done well as a proper single world wide.
April 4, 20241 yr Pop! were just too late to the party really, they'd have fit in much better earlier in the decade but even by then seemed like something from a different era comparing them to the likes of Girls Aloud and the Sugababes. I completely ignored them as a 15-16 year old at the time but now I'm quite enjoying them  Good point on how they were marketed, the "right" way to do dancepop videos at the time was usually a colourful CGI video that got a lot of music channel play (XTM, Eyeopener, Dana Rayne etc) for the Eurodance songs, and for house it was usually three minutes of women not wearing much with the words 'CONTAINS THE VIDEO' in massive letters on the CD single cover.
