March 31, 20241 yr Author So in other words, I've made a completely useless list strewn with errors. Not sure how there's so many date errors when I went through the charts one-by-one as I added them to the list, but hey ho. Apologies. Edited March 31, 20241 yr by DoBelieveTheHype
March 31, 20241 yr So in other words, I've made a completely useless list strewn with errors. Apologies. Please don't apologise, there's no need as everyone makes mistakes. Sorry if I offended you by pointing out the very few mistakes. For what it's worth my list above makes it look worse than it is as it effectively uses double entry, as an entry listed with the wrong year will be shown on both the year it should have been on and the one it shouldn't have been. So as well as one accidental omission, there are only 6 actual typo mistakes, and two of those you'd already spotted and fixed, whilst three of the other four will also be very quick fixes too. The only that may need more checking is Olivia popping up unexpectedly in 2017 and also missing a different date in 2021, where they could be another double entry arising from one error, but the dates and stream figures don't tally. 278 entries, each with four data points (date, artist, track and streaming figure) is over 1,000 individual data points, so only making 6 errors is really a very low error rate.
March 31, 20241 yr I definitely appreciate the list - errors aside, we all make them (me in particular)! Most songs that have passed 1m+ daily streams won't have more than one version counting to it anyway, or may just have negligible impact from a few remixes etc. Even in the case of Shape of You having the Stormzy remix as well, all it takes is a footnote to explain it's only the top version of a song. Still a useful indicator in my view so I don't think it's fair to call the list "useless" when someone's spent their time working on it.
March 31, 20241 yr Yes I agree with Joseph, the list is very helpful and interesting. Didn’t expect there to be that many entries tbh. Crazy that Shape of You had 17 days above 1mil in 2017

The exception being the Olivia Rodrigo one - because I'm struggling to work out what's happened there. The song good 4 u wasn't out in January and I've just checked driver's license which was but didn't do a million on that date. I'll have to look into it. So utterly confused on that one. and the John Lennon one because I think this might be an error on your part 'John Lennon should be listed on 25th December 2020 but has been wrongly listed as being 25th December 2020' '

I actually made and then caught three other errors that I myself made whilst compiling the chronological list, and had to edit my chronological list to correct those, so it could well be that I also made a 4th one. The Olivia Rodrigo one may well be a matching pair. The extra one is Good 4 U on 28th January 2017 with 1,251,540 streams, whilst the missing one is also Good 4 U but on 28th May 2021 with 1,121,540 streams.

I just checked and I did indeed make a typo on the 2021 entry for John Lennon, as I think that was the one I added as an edit after realising the Lennon error was the only one that didn't have double entry. It's also possible that the connected pair for John Lennon was a bigger error on my part if your list had 2021 all along for one of duplicate 2020 ones on my chronological list.

It's not it's my mistake I'd already correct that one on my first read through over your post. Just looked through Rodrigo's streaming numbers for both driver's license and good 4 u and there's no 1,251,540 - so it looks like a typo and double up. Probably made after taking a break and going back to that day. I've removed the higher one. The main list should be more accurate now. Thanks for your help again. It was interesting seeing the chronological version of the list - shows how rare it still is for songs to get 1m streams even now outside the Christmas takeover Edited March 31, 20241 yr by DoBelieveTheHype

April 27, 20241 yr Fascinating list! Thanks for sharing. I love reading lists like this - so if you ever do anything else you think might interest us, please share. I wonder if Wham! or Mariah might pull ahead in the list of most days.
June 12, 20241 yr Author Sabrina Carpenter takes the total number of entries to 291 with Please Please Please.
June 12, 20241 yr Rightniw its a good list but the way spotify is going might be a couple every month
June 15, 20241 yr So I calculate 63 different tracks have broken the 1 million streams in a day barrier, only 30 of which are non-Xmas related. Of those 30 - 9 are from Taylor Swift!
