It's been bugging me for a while now. Does anyone know what 'Version Revisited' means in brackets on the track name for Mark Ronson's Valerie on Spotify and Apple Music

The album it's from is called 'Version', the album's reworking of Kasabian's 'L.S.F.' also has the 'Version Revisited' tag.

However, all the tracks on the album are reworks of other songs, so I'm not sure why only those two have the tag.

I'd love to have a (semi) flop era where I'm making high quality, original pop tunes with Kevin Parker and Danny L Harle (given the public's notoriously dodgy music taste, this approach should basically be chart suicide) yet she's STILL scoring hit after hit?

sounds to me like the songs are connecting.....sounds more like she's OVERperforming infact......

Let them know

Why is it a problem to have that opinion though?

I'm just totally baffled as to how two top 5 hits with substantial top 20 runs aren't connecting...!!! Saying she's doing less well than Future Nostalgia is factual but making out that the music isn't connecting isn't true. Not connecting *in the same way* may well be true though.

I think it’s just especially more noticeable given how high standards are for hits these past few months. We’ve had Noah Kahan, Beyoncé, Djo, Hozier, Teddy Swims etc. all getting 600-700k+ days consistently recently and Dua’s three new singles just haven’t reached those heights as I’m sure a lot of people were expecting her to after Future Nostalgia. I’d compare it to Rihanna coming back with Russian Roulette after GGGB (which also got 6 weeks top 10 in the downloads era when songs didn’t stick around as long) and it was considered a bit of a disappointment.

you're comparing viral tiktok songs vs regular songs, you cannot...
I’m sorry is there a separate chart and rules for “viral tiktok songs” that I’m unaware of

If you were to do streaming numbers for the year I think Houdini is top 5 if I’m not mistaken

I've kind of thought of Dua's trajectory as being quite similar to Katy Perry's. If Future Nostalgia is her Teenage Dream, then she was obviously never gonna match that. Her third era can also perhaps draw some parallels, but it seems to be going more smoothly for her than PRISM so far.

I mean if I had to compare them single by single

Single 1: Roar vs Houdini

Single 2: Unconditionally vs Training Season

Single 3: Dark Horse vs Illusion

Katy wins by a mile

Oh I totally get that and I don't disagree with you! I agree that this era's not hitting the same way as Future Nostalgia did chart-wise. My post was more about those saying the songs so far aren't hitting with the public, which isn't true when they've been big hits, just not *enormous* hits like Don't Start Now or Levitating for example. Of course, there's some middle ground!

I dunno, at this point in the campaign she had already messed up massively and was lucky she had 'Dark Horse' up her sleeve to save her. I'm not quite getting the same feeling from this as yet.

Katy WAS much bigger though in the Teenage Dream era, than Dua was in the Future Nostalgia era. Obviously FN was big, but Katy herself was pretty much unavoidable and perhaps the biggest pop star around at that time. I think people have been over-doing how huge Dua was, and how much of it was just the material being so good that it connected so well.

Dance The Night sat outside the top 10 for weeks until the Barbie movie came out. So, I think that’s why I think people’s expectations have been skewed too highly from the beginning.

I think this is actually more in line with the charts than the other Amazon chart list so probably the most accurate Amazon data

I think the other one is more accurate, as there's been a couple of songs that scraped the Top 100 officially after making it high on the other Amazon chart but nowhere else (Imagine Dragons, Meghan Trainor before Spotify/Apple pushed it).

It’s constantly had bizarre placements like something at 3 or 4 that isn’t anywhere on the chart so I don’t agree for that reason. Even right now it has levitating at 48 now why would that be there.

That's true! It's possibly a mix of both then.

Getting accurate data for the Amazon charts does seem to be a particular nuisance.

The data always seems to have such odd anomalies that i'm not sure can be entirely put down to a different listener base.

I do think that one is accurate. States most played and everything aligns with the UK charts more or less. The other just says top songs. Has David Guetta at #2 Dua lipa levitating at 38 those two things already don’t align. I don’t get how that chart is created but it’s definitely not accurate for chart streaming.

Well if you’re doing 700k-800k on average normally… autoplay helping to get over 900k isn’t such an odd concept.

I always thought auto play was if a song that was doing just ok jumped up a lot for a day, but I’m no expert tbh!

Thread re-opened. Going to re-post what I said on Sunday:

Thread re-opened. I'm going to make it extremely clear. This thread is to discuss and analyse the streaming charts. There is *no* reason to be coming for other members, being rude, stirring the pot, deliberately trolling, or trying to get a reaction from other people. ANY further infractions will result in posts deleted (without explanation) and warnings issued, because I'm SO bored of the ridiculous circular arguments this thread has become recently.

It's so simple - think before you post. Re-read your post to make sure it's appropriate, fair, and not coming for or winding up other members. We're all adults and everyone here knows how to debate and discuss reasonably, I'd hope.

Back to the streaming charts please.

Everyone seemed to get the hang of this for a few days and it's become ridiculous again. In addition to the above, please think about perspective and context when you're posting. Be specific and in-depth when you analyse an artist or song's trajectory. Are they flopping, or are they performing a little less well than their previous era? Let's look at the bigger picture before posting sweeping statements.

Thanks to those of you who have reported posts to bring them to our attention immediately - please continue to do this should any issues arise as there's no guarantee a chart mod will be browsing the thread at all times. The button's nice and clear now at the bottom of every post so there's no excuse not to do this should any issues arise - and please don't take it upon yourselves to call out these posters unless it's an actual reasoned debate about Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, YouTube, etc and how they affect the official chart.

And I'll make it extremely clear ahead of Taylor release week - ignore these requests and warnings will be issued, and you may just be suspended for the remainder of the chart week. I've got better things to do with my time than clean this thread out. Like everyone else, I come to see updates on streaming charts and to see what everyone's making of the latest happenings. Circular discussions about popstars "flopping" when they've been in the top 20 *every week this year* are BEYOND tedious, and it's the last thing I'd like to deal with when I've spent a couple of hours preparing tomorrow's chart resources.

Once again, back to streaming charts please.
