I’ve really got a bad feeling about Israel, maybe I was naive but I really didn’t think it would happen. It makes me think I should have just boycotted like everhone has said :/

f***in hell Israel are gonna landslide the tele vote Ukraine 2022 style if that Italy leak is legit

how would the contest be hosted next year if they do win it though?

Now 6/1 and ahead of Nemo on some sites. Plus they’ve got producers’ choice so the EBU will give a pimp slot I expect

My one thing is Italy is such a horrifically racist country so I’m hoping it’s an anomaly there or an error, that does seem like an absolutely ridiculous percentage for anyone out of that many songs but I don’t see how something like that could “accidentally” just pop up on screen like that

I can 🇮🇱 winning the contest now with those figures, I can guess they can do it easily as people voting for rather against a particular artist / country,

Probably like when Ukraine won. Second will be offered the chance.

As much as I’d like them to win I have a feeling the jury won’t reward them so will prevent them winning

I'm lowkey hoping pro-Palestinian figures would start to rally behind one entry now, be it Croatia or Ireland  Would HATE to see a win from the I country which would pretty much sabotage the reputation of Eurovision
Israel is going to benefit from the counter culture type of mentality and split votes the only way to prevent an Israel victory would be for everybody to decide 3 countries to vote for and just forget the rest but I doubt that will happen in time for Saturday

I think Olly will struggle to get Top 10. Maybe sending The Last Dinner Party next year might do the trick to represent us, surely that's a good shout out.

And talking of Luxembourg making a comeback, I remember Morocco participated in a few contests back in the 70s/early 80s circa. Maybe someone needs to nudge them

Yeah that’s the problem, Croatia or Netherlands both will do really well in the televote but you can’t vote negatively so there’s no way for pro Palestine voters to really band together and do anything. Ireland would be a great counter vote but I don’t see her winning so I feel like that almost helps Israel more. I think Croatia is the best bet. Italy is a horrifically racist country so I’m hoping that was a blip :/

Not when the I country is still there

Not that a high televote for Israel was unexpected, mind you, but the implications of what it means for the future of the contest where it can genuinely be hijacked by people being so pro-'a country' in a controversial cause regardless of the song (no, even at its best it's not that good), the absolute shambles it would be with Israel either hosting or more likely 'making the next contest Israeli' which would be a genuine reason that I could find to boycott in these circumstances, and that pretty much the entire Eurofan fanbase will just be... gone.

I think many fans have been avoiding the boycott under the rationale that here, it is one country and for most of the show you can ignore they exist. If there truly exists a pro-Israeli block that'll propel them to victory in support of their heinous military actions and then next contest we're treated to them parading their victory, I do not see many people, even committed Eurovision fans being able to stomach that or muster up excitement about any acts that take part.

If there is a pro-Palestine vote to rally behind, it is Ireland, but I both can't see that being organised enough for it to make a huge difference and feel icky about turning it into an I/P competition.

of course much of what I am saying could apply to Ukraine 2022, but that felt natural, like Europe uniting behind one of their own under attack, with Russia an unwanted aggressor. I/P is not the same, just to put it bluntly without opening myself up to derailing this thread.

The one thing I'm taking from it is that Italy probably have very low viewership in the semi finals, which means that it's probably possible to manipulate the televote if you've got the money to spend and a point to prove - a bit like Moldova 2021 surprisingly getting 12 points from France in the semis and then absolutely nothing two days later.

Also Italy are lowkey the most right wing country in Western Europe so of course they'd be more primed to be pro-Israeli.

Im pleased that borefest from Belgium didnt go through. Latvia and Estonia went through deservedly.

Boo at Israel though.

Israel had a point to prove tonight - hence why they were so adamant about being involved/changing the song etc., - it wouldn’t take much in the semis to have some local payola/encouragement to vote for them tonight, the final will be a different story though.

This isn't a shock in all quarters. This has been discussed by some YouTubers.

I've always wearily anticipated that Israel would be top three on the televote, although this looks like it could be a landslide of Ukraine 2022 proportions.

Although not every country will be as generous (Iceland for one).

I do wonder what the juries will do now, and who will get the anti-vote.

Unfortunately they're going to smash the televoting, there will be a huge campaign by supporters of their actions in the war/right wingers to vote for them - even ones that would never watch Eurovision. And balance that with fact you can't vote negatively BB style. Thinking another outcome is a delusion, sadly.

Israel probably won't win overall due to jury but they'll get the popular victory and boy won't we all hear about it ad nauseum.
