...and he's dropped to #10 already by the Wednesday mids! He'll need a minor miracle to stay top 10 now.

I wish his label would react by doing some price cuts, but I doubt they'll do it at this late stage!

So this has charted at #22, I was never expecting it to perform well but that seems really dire

Was there any signed cds? Or did I miss them

Only in the US which seemed a bit of a questionable decision :( couldn't even order to the UK from the US store either.

but sales are not bad, 4.5K is decent, thought he was gonna do worse tbh

problem is if you do <5K you get passed by all those fake greatest hits like Michael Jackson-Essential etc

so without those it would be close to top 10

Unfortunately the album preview doesn't sound anywhere intriguing for me, except for Why Why Why which is quite decent. I feel like he should write something Imagination-esque to appeal more Asian fans.

UK first week positions/sales:

#12 - 5,278 - Handwritten

#3 - 15,554 - Illuminate

#3 - 23,419 - Shawn Mendes

#12 - 11,005 - Wonder

#22 - 4,638 - Shawn

US first week positions/sales:

#1 - 119,000 - Handwritten

#1 - 145,000 - Illuminate

#1 - 182,000 - Shawn Mendes

#1 - 89,000 - Wonder

#26 - 24,000 - Shawn

That US position is quite stark compared to the previous ones. Although to be fair he lasted longer than I expected him to, and he's been gone 4 years since his last era (which showed the wheels were falling off)
some of his US #1s were cos of tour bundles ala Bon Jovi
I would never have believed that Camila would chart higher than Shawn in both the UK and USA with their most recent albums!
but actually shawn sold more

Where does he go from here?

This was somewhat inevitable given the big gap between era's. The real damage seems to have been done between SM and Wonder IMO.

I will say it again even though the poor sales this album is incredible and is my second favourite from him (his debut ((memories)) is sensational)

Given that he said that he fully planned on quitting the music industry before being coached into making this album I wouldn’t be surprised if he just sporadically released albums independently from now on since I’m pretty sure this album fulfilled the contract he had with island.

Marginally in the UK but Camila sold better in the US:

UK:

#20. 4,347 - C,XOXO

#22. 4,638 - Shawn

US:

#13. 36k - C,XOXO

#26. 24k - Shawn

Shawn had a preorder run in of 106 days (just over 15 weeks). Initially it was 11 weeks, but 4 more were added due to the release date being pushed back.

C,XOXO’s preorder was 52 days (just over 7 weeks).

Let’s be real too though, Camila’s album (I say, having not listened) is far more likely to rack up casual sales due to being female pop and more commercial than Shawn’s output this time around. He could have gone down the route of continuing to chase sales and hits by manufacturing solid pop songs in the same vein as Handwritten and Illuminate, but it’s clear he doesn’t care and is vibing.
