As Eurovision Song Contest 2024 drawing a close with Switzerland winning, there were so many controversies which tainted the experience of many participants and the overall reputation. However, with NDAs expiring, many more may come to light.

I'll be sharing news as we find out what happened behind the scenes, concentrated in this thread. Will we see resignations from EBU? How will the contest go forward in the future?

Spill the tea :cheer: I really want to know what went down with Bambi, Olly and other ones threatening to withdraw.

Was the audience actually right to boo Martin Österdahl or is he just a puppet and other people behind the scenes have the real power?

The reaction in the arena could be healing for Martin Österdahl's ego, because I think he's trying too hard to become a memorable part of Eurovision with his "You're good to go!"

Maybe next year an international star will be used again as interval act, who will distract the press and fans in case there is another controversy about countries and participants. A poorly singing superstar could be a welcome distraction.

It was the right reaction. It let the EBC know JUST how unpopular it's become.

I really think they could've avoided all of this by just excluding Israel on the same grounds they did Russia. I mean I get why they didn't as depressing as it is, but really, has anyone actually been able to separate context from song? Certainly doesn't seem so in the public votes and I'd guess a lot of jury had that in their minds as well as it's the sort of song that usually would do quite well with them.

LUNA from Poland also speaks out about Israeli delegation harassing other delegations

So there are multiple claims from different countries of harassment from the Israel delegation but nothing was done about it? Doesn't look good, makes the fact that they let Israel in after banning Russia look even more dodgy.

And it also makes them look stupid for disqualifying The Netherlands and not Israel...
I think everything this year has tarnished the competition which isn't helped by the lack of clarification provided by the EBU and everything feels totally off with how they handled everything.
Israel has had the tightest grip on EBU since they hosted in 2019 - they were the ones to pay shitload of money to have Madonna, the current main sponsor is an Israeli company... EBU (especially the big 5) needs to be very firm, find a new sponsor etc.
Obliterate them sis!

When the Moroccanoil partnership was announced in 2019, it was a five year (or contest - hopefully the 2020 contest getting cancelled isn't relevant) deal that seems to expire this year  So hopefully we'll have a new, non-Israeli sponsor from next year as I feel like that's a big factor in them not taking any action on Israel at all

If anything this year just proved to all the contest is, indeed, political. There's no way around that now and the EBU is showing their asses. Major rehaul is needed for next year.

I wonder what the agreement was to get the 5 or so countries that were threatening to withdraw on Friday back in the game.

Another reason why Fuego should've won.
