Having not looked at the results from the last running of this rate, I'm getting plenty of surprises.

I'd have given long odds on No Doubt being the first act with 13 voters!

Imagine Dragons and Atomic Kitten this high?

Less surprised at Maroon 5 being so high but I can't stand them so am relieved it's not higher!

Strap yourself in then! :D

Tomorrow we'll lose another 30 pointer PLUS the first artist forum act will exit the rate!

Atomic Kitten <3 Amazed to see them so high, I forgot they were still to come.

They had a wonderful underdog story, a great singer in Natasha, and Liz was also a fine singer while Jenny's talk-singing also became a key part of the brand (and I loved her ever since Precious).

I liked the band a lot more after Kerry left although she was a big part of their wonderful debut album - full of fun, catchy and carefree pop and harnessing the spirit of OMD (with Andy McCluskey and Stuart Kershaw behind a lot of the early material).

I know they had the edges shaved off them a bit after the success of Whole Again turned them into more of an MOR pop act, but they did that middle ground kind of pop better than the rest for my money. Girls Aloud were much better at the uptempos, and Sugababes better at the soulful stuff and the harmonies, but Atomic Kitten's radio pop strummers really appealed to me and I do think they are underrated critically. Clearly not commercially though as they have double the monthly listeners of Girls Aloud on Spotify, but I think that's because they had more global success.

Maroon 5 I really enjoy too, or did for a period at least. I mostly lost interest after the 2014 album.

Huge climb for AK , i gave them points and am still shocked they are this high!

Me too, did not expect that result.

Good to see Bon Jovi also slightly rising.

Stable ish positions for Bon Jovi and Maroon 5 there. Love a lot of Bon Jovi's output. 'Bed Of Roses' and 'Bad Medicine' are some of their more underrated gems I feel. Did dip off Maroon 5 from 2014 too. 'This .

Summer..' probably their last real good track imo.

Yay for Atomic Kitten, I've always had a real soft spot for them. Both Liz and Tash were excellent singers and I really loved the direction they took after Whole Again. The earlier material with Kerry was ok I guess and kinda experimental for a girl group really but the MOR sound they took on I thought really suited them with songs like It's ok, Be with you, Last goodbye and If you come to me. They are very much the underdog of girl groups now with Girls Aloud and Sugababes really surpassing them (understandably with their longetivity and better music), I rate them above the likes of The Saturdays and Eternal (and Destiny's Child tbh).

3 of my votes in a row out there love Bon Jovi and Maroon 5 too.

Huge climb for Atomic Kitten, love them hence my votes but didn’t expect them this high!

Bon Jovi, nice little climb but deserved top 25 imo!

Love a bit of Maroon 5 too especially in earlier days they’d probs be just outside my votes

I decided to reward The Cure greatly this time as I only got into them a few years ago, after the last rate took place. I saw their performance of ‘Pictures Of You’ on TOTP repeats and immediately needed to hear more - quickly became obsessed with Disintegration and then their discography in general  I’m impressed by how well Robert’s voice has held up all these years later.

THIS!

I was exactly the same and discovered a lot of gems and songs I knew but didn’t realise was by them!

Atomic Kitten being so high is pleasing, I feel like they're often overlooked nowadays compared to the likes of Girls Aloud and Sugababes, but all three of their albums are great and they have one hell of a singles discography. I find it hard to pick my favourite of theirs because the quality is consistently high!

Did think 1D may be the first to depart, not a bad outcome for them but naturally they deserve better x

Atomic Kittten would have got my 30 if I'd have voted, You Are is the perfect pop girl band song! Debut Album is consistently 10/10 songs. I prefer Jenny being in the group but there's no denying the quality and edge in the first album is perfection. Last Goodbye is also sensational

Edited by Rough_edges

17 acts in the top 30 for me 😮

Manic I’ve always found a bit boring.

1D I do like a fair bit of their stuff but some of their earlier days stuff hasn’t aged amazingly

Interesting to see One Direction as the first of the forums out, I definitely did not predict that! I'd agree personally as I feel out of all the groups they have the least stage presence as a group, although they have some great singers and some great songs. I prefer Harry as a solo act to them as a group, I'd go see him in concert but not One Direction.

And that's me done (at least in terms of my votes).

Might be a band or two I quite like left in it but I suspect few and far between now
