Interesting! It may actually prove smart from a streaming perspective but I get the feeling it may just be sort of “add on” to the album and it might not be representative of the albums overall theme etc (when it was teased it was a while you wait for LG7).

Hoping we get news on the Disease follow up soon though. Could we be in for a NYE/NYD post do we think for the next single /

Album release confirmation.

Well, I hate to come here as the only post so far of not complete positivity but I’m a little disappointed :( I do like pretty much every song and I particularly like the run of How Bad Do U Want Me

This sold 219k in the US, and 74k of that were vinyls - her biggest vinyl sales week ever!

The contrast between Disease and DWAS is insane, like not even remotely similar sounding.

Let’s hope the critics don’t bomb the album for it not flowing, although I am glad DWAS is on the album and will hopefully get a reset once it gets released in the UK.

I've heard The Theory of Chaos being floated round as a potential title than Inner Chaos

I think we'll get single 2 (or 3 now as the case may be) in the later part of January.

I'm really happy that DWAS will be included! I assume it's the closing track to round off the chaos of the album, with love trumping all else. (Also yay form a streaming perspective too :P it would have been foolish not to include it!)
The only thing is how Gaga contradicted herself, when releasing DWAS it was to keep fans happy in the meantime whilst waiting for LG7 and now the stance has turned into ‘it was always part of the album to begin with and a piece within it’ .
Since DWAS is on the album, that means that it’s the first single from LG7 and Disease is the second. Looks like the titles of the threads for the songs need changing. 😂

Mama heard me. :dancing: She would be stupid not to take advantage of everything this mammoth song has achieved so far and will still achieve by leaving it as a standalone single. Bruno wasn't stingy with APT, so he shouldn't be with DWAS. She helped write and produce the song, it's her song, period.

I think it's a closing track and it kind of fits for that. I think she lied a little that it was "just a standalone track while you wait for LG7"... Although maybe Little Monstrosities would've not accepted DWAS being marketed as the first single? They wanted pop Gaga and got... DWAS, imagine the meltdowns. So it was clever from her either way.
I actually love DWAS but can understand why some of the fans wouldn’t label it as a classic Gaga lead single/song, so I’m happy it’s included. Giving it a streaming boost is a clever tactic, and it’s a monster smash hit now as it stands lingering on the charts forever.

I think it was the case that it wasn't going to be, but realising they had to include it after how big it's been.

I don't believe her when she says it was "always a part of the project"

My one worry about this is.. vinyl production. If they've changed their mind about including it does that mean vinyls haven't been produced until that decision was made and if so are we getting them on week 1? I can't have another release where all variants aren't available from day 1 :arrr:

What part of "There are so many different genres on this album, and I think my favorite thing about it is the chaos of it all" didn't you get yet? She already said it twice. Her saying "while you wait for LG7" doesn't necessarily mean that the song wouldn't be on the album. Any artist would kill to have a song like that on their album and I'm happy she started playing the game like everyone else plays.

I just hope it actually fits, rather than sounding awkwardly shoehorned in for streaming purposes!

It's her song and she does whatever she wants with it. If Bruno wasn't upset and gave her the green light to include it on her album, nobody can say anything about it, thank you very much.

As I saw elsewhere:

"Madonna's "Die another day" was included in "American Life" and it's not the 1st single, "American Life" was. Katy Perry's "Never Really Over" was included in "Smile" and it was not the lead single, "Daisies" was. Spice Girls' "Goodbye" was included in "Forever" and it was not the lead single, "Holler" was.. Beyonce's "Check on It" and "Listen" were included in B'day and they were not the lead single, "Deja Vu" was."

So she's just playing the game like everyone else once did. Almost every artist has done this before and hasn't been criticized, so Gaga won't be either.

She was recording LG7 when she did DWAS, I am pretty sure that she knew it was going to be a hit right away, so it was going to be on the album since day 1, especially as it was huge right away. It was just matter of how she presented it to the audience and her (gatekeeping) fandom.

Actually from MY PERSONAL level when she released DWAS, it was clear from my interpretation that she didn’t intend for the project to be part of LG7 but rather a standalone single. IF it was intended for the album, it would’ve been clearly marketed as that to begin with in day 1 and labelled as the lead single. All of that was omitted, so from MY END Gaga herself had a change of heart seeing how big the song was and how Disease poorly performed and included into the album.

There is nothing to say she can’t include the album as it is her song, just as much as Bruno’s, but I’m merely stating what was presented to us.

That’s MY theory and two cents on the matter. I’m not criticising Gaga on the song being included on the album (but just questioned how it’d flow as an overall project sonically) as you said it is her song at the end of the day, but rather how it became clear to me that the song was a success and as a result became attached to the project.

So you have to bring me proof where Gaga said she would NEVER include DWAS on LG7. She never said that. And even if she had said that, she would be stupid not to do what ANY other artist would do in her situation. She would just be playing the game everyone else plays in the industry. The fact that the song became the massive hit of 2024 is the reason for all the controversy. If the song was a flop, none of you would be questioning Gaga about including her song which she performed, helped write and produce, which puts some of you as haters since you don't seem to want to see her having success through her own work.

Disease performing poorly is another subjective take, it was another top 10 hit for her in the UK, it's still stable doing 1M streams daily and will reach 100M by the end of the year, it wasn't a big hit like DWAS but it also wasn't the big flop that some of you want to carve. It performed on par or even better than Perfect Illusion, which, even though it was an underperformance, didn't prevent Joanne from debuting at #1 in the US with 200k copies nor from selling 1M pure copies according to IFPI. It's her song, she includes it wherever she wants and nobody has to put her against the wall for that.

The same reason there is no proof to say she would NEVER include DWAS, can be said there is no proof it was included in the album to begin with during its original release. It’s merely an indifference of an opinion, because her original post (which has been publicised by various media outlets) implied it was released as a standalone single whilst fans wait for the release of LG7. See the difference where Disease was promoted heavily as the LEAD single of LG7 and DWAS had little to no recognition on the new upcoming project by Gaga herself. THAT is why it was questioned because of her outtake on the song has changed from day 1 of release to now.

Again I wasn’t criticising her for doing what she did by including it, if you actually see my previous posts I supported the decision. I merely commented on how the album would FLOW given how sonically Disease and DWAS differs (which would affect a critics opinion on a score of an album and yes as a fan of mother herself I’d like her new album to be critically acclaimed too please thank you). Also I am aware she stated there are multiple genres on the album (omg yes I too follow Gaga news shock horror) but having Disease flowing into a song like DWAS just feels off as a listener listening to the full album in its whole glory but we shall see how it fares upon seeing the track list and hearing all the songs upon release.

Whether a song performed poorly or good is again subject to opinion. I PERSONALLY (see the emphasis on the word) think Disease performed poorly in comparison to some of her other lead singles, and this is coming from a die hard stan who has the song as Gaga’s 5th best song she’s ever released.

This is a music forum to DISCUSS music so if there’s something to discuss on the matter musically then it should be encouraged and not frowned upon, as long as the discussion is HEALTHY (in which this case it has been).
