I wonder what caused 'Mysterious Ways' to chart so low. They were hot property at the time, it was following a #1 and the next two singles from the album went top 10.

It could be that it's not as strong as those other songs.

I just listened to The Fly twice in a row.

Not only is it my favourite U2 song, it's also my favourite number 1 of the 90s and one of my favourite songs of all time.

I don't know how big a factor this is in my admiration for the song but it was such a departure for the band after the suffocating earnestness of Rattle and Hum. Whatever switch flicked in Bono's head also flicked in The Edge's head too.

The guitars squalled. They scratched and clanged. Bono's vocals were breathy and seductive. And that guitar solo still makes me feel things no one guitar solo does. Pure melodic noise.

would have preferred One to win but alas... maybe it should get combined with the Mary J Blige version ;D

One includes my favourite U2 lyrics ever:

Have you come here for forgiveness?

Have you come to raise the dead?

Have you come here to play Jesus

To the lepers in your head?

doh! That was close, but my votes would have been enough to push Still Havent Found into 2nd place and One into 4th with Streets holding on to 3.
Happy to see 'With Or Without You' top and 'Where The Streets...' in third is a result too - those both made my top 3 with 'One' 4th, but not much between them in all honesty. Thanks for running this Ed!

Also very surprised to see Mysterious Ways as high as 5th, that's great!

I enjoyed this rate and the change of format, thanks chartjack for hosting :D

slightly off tangent but what's everyone's fav U2 album if you could pick up just one?

I know The Joshua Tree is their big big classic but

My fav has to be Achtung Baby! It has the right amount of rock, experimentation, move forward in their sound, great melodies, great lyrics. Top 3 fav tracks Love is Blindess, One and Until the end of the world.

What about you all guys?

Achtung Baby has always been my favourite. The Joshua Tree is fine but it gets a bit dull in the second half for me.

Boy - The Unforgettable fire - The Joshua Tree - Achtung Baby

Love the early Post Punk sound of Boy and it where I began with them but Joshua Tree is their most accomplished work
