I can’t believe tension II is being released on the same week as the Blessed Madonna new album. Looking at the release schedule, she will be Kylie’s main challenger for no1 album.

I'm sure the main challenger is Rag N Bone Man, although I can see him only just going top 5 or so. I'm not sure The Blessed Madonna's album is going to be a big hitter.

I wouldn’t under estimate the Blessed Madonna. I think she will outsell Tension II in the longer run. I don’t think Tension II will even match sales of the first part and the concept is confusing given the title track doesn’t even feature on the follow up album.

An album doesn't need to include a song with the same name on it! Tension II as a title represents the album being a companion/continuation of the Tension era as a whole.

I am sure Kylie will have some promo slots and BMG will track all week as we go along....... some limited edition cassetes, a deluxe CD, an Amazon vinyl, a exclusive store download etc

+ maybe a special album format to include with concert tickets next week too.......

3 Tension II Cd

16 Tension II vinyl

100 Tension 1 CD

Shawn Mendes is out too?

Edit. He’s had 2 x #3’s and 2 x #12’s, so maybe no threat :D

Are we looking at around 20k sales week 1?

How many variants did Tension 1 have compared to Tension 2 so far?

He'll bomb

As for sales, I'm pretty sure it'll do at least 25-30k, perhaps a bit over.

G Norton is back on 27th Sept. Gaga on.

Wonder if Kylie got 18th October slot. She didn't sing last time on their at launch of Tension so hopefully she does this time

We already know One Show next week

I guess hopefully she gets Strictly this time also.

I'm hopeful for around 35k, in line with what Liam said re: Steps' percentage decline from What the Future Holds to What the Future Holds Part 2!

In terms of physicals:

Tension

1 CD - Standard

2 CD - Standard track list with Purple/Green artwork

3 CD - Deluxe, Digibook size

4 CD - Deluxe, Mediabook size

5 Vinyl - Black LP

6 Vinyl - Orange LP

7 Vinyl - Green LP

8 Vinyl - Pink LP

9 Vinyl - Coke Bottle Clear LP

10 Vinyl - Clear LP, pop up shop exclusive

11 Vinyl - Silver LP, gatefold

12 Cassette - Orange

13 Cassette - Green

14 Cassette - Blue

15 Cassette - Pink

16 Double Cassette - White

+ two versions of the Test Pressing vinyl, but I have a feeling that they don't count towards sales figures anyway... maybe just a money making exercise.

Tension II

1 CD

2 Vinyl - Clear LP

3 Vinyl - Turquoise LP

4 Vinyl - Yellow LP

5 Cassette

+ Test Pressing vinyl

Not sure if I've missed any. I'm a little disappointed that the hardback CD formats apparently aren't continuing but maybe they're being held back? Maybe they were hesitant to throw out too many formats considering that they're also wanting people to buy concert tickets this time!

I doubt blessed Madonna’s album will even make top 5. I understand about Ragnbone man and ABBA. But Kylie’s label aren't fools when it comes to album releases: they’re well aware thar Kylie’s fans are loyal, are collectionists and have enough disposable income to buy a few variants. So depending on how the temperature heats up, I’m sure they’ll chuck in a few extra variants on D day.

As others have pointed out here and in other forums, obviously Kylie and team didn’t have enough of a new sound for this to warrant a new album. But songs seemed good enough not to throw away so hey, let’s make this a mini album event.

I haven’t seen the competition list for that week but safe to say she’s got the uk no1 album in the bag if it’s a normal week wirh minimal competition. No doubt she can safely clear 30K as others have pointed.

I am thinking a Tension Tour Bundle?

Tension 1 and Tension 2 bundle for like £13 if you buy a ticket?

Oh......

I love the sound of Someone For Me

There is an 18 sec snippet on popjustice from K group on twitter if anyone can upload here ?

ABBA’s compilation is released a week later on 25th October. Although even if they were out in the same week, I personally don’t believe that their sales would come anywhere close to Kylie’s. They’re only releasing two physical formats, a 2CD for £22 and a 4LP vinyl for £100! I would be surprised if its first week sales are much more than a third of what Kylie’s end up being.

Thank you

Sounds like she's really honing in on the club vibe for this.

I know a lot of people said they were expecting/wanted the general sound of Tension to follow the route of the first two singles so maybe that's her aim this time (although I can't imagine the Orville + Sia collabs making the album sound cohesive if that is the case)

Didn't she say no theme for Tension era, just lots of different sounds so they can fit in OK and will help with some extra streams

Yes, she said that before the release of the first edition which was probably way before this idea was concepted.

I think calling it Tension II is all about the tour. It’s a hugely ambitious undertaking and they want to ensure success. This way they can trade off Padam and the halo effect of a hit album (so big it demanded a sequel!), even though it’s no 1 status was fleeting and largely achieved by an extremely loyal fan base shelling out for gimmicks and variants.

It’ll be interesting to see if it sells out or extra shows are added. I also wonder if Bebe and Tove will turn up as guests acts. There had to be some strategy to investing all that $ in a video.
