I wonder if we’ll ever see proper reissues of parlophone era albums. Not just carbon copies of the standard tracks but deluxe editions including b sides, remixes & unreleased content like they did for the 4 PWL albums.

They seem to be one of laziest labels for re-issues - so many other labels are really focusing on getting their back catalogue to vinyl, celebrating anniversaries etc

Apologies if this has been discussed already but what is going on wrt singles from 53? Is it all done or any rumours of a new single/vid?

I can't anything being released before Xmas now, maybe something straight after Xmas as a build up to her tour.

I think the album has done what they wanted.... sold the tour tickets and announcement

Thank god for the tour - this might be Kylie’s most boring era ever. I know you all say, but she got the #1!!! And yeah that’s great, but dropping out of the charts after 2 weeks and also giving us no further singles/videos or basically anything is not very exciting for the fans.

Sadly agree :drama:

I agree aswell, im so disappointed with its chart run and it feels like the era is over now unless we get 1 more surprise single release.

I really didnt expect a 2 week top 100 chart run at all.

The real cold reality is T2 had 5 songs out in the domain when it was released.

Kylie's Fan base took it to number 1. The General public really had no interest in any of the songs or the Album.

History will rightly say it was a "Number 1 Album."

I know this may seem harsh, but the truth is T2 has been a total disaster for Kylie and I think for many of us as well.

The otherside of the coin though is much brighter, the first part of this era was a huge success on many levels and of course the final part, the tour, already has success written all over it.

So overall the Era has been successful and has probably achieved more than expected. I think most people will see the Era as great overall and won't dwell of this part of it.

I imagine we will probably get a Kylie live Album from the tour.

I also feel she has the next era well into it's planning stages and I am betting on a Sept 2025 start for the new era (fingers crossed)

What makes Tension II a total disaster though - has it negatively affected her career going forward? I’d say that it hasn’t at all…

- Fans got new music out of this, that we can choose to take or leave. For me it’s a positive to have got some (imo) enjoyable new songs.

- Critically speaking, the album was generally well reviewed, so there’s no embarrassment there.

- The album being tied in with a tour announcement (her store directing people to order albums to gain access to a tour presale) was undoubtedly a smart marketing tool.

- At the end of the day, it reached #1. All the public will see if they ever check her Wikipedia is that Tension II was another #1 album, her 10th. They’re not going to care that it was out the chart quickly or that it’ll take a while for it to certify. Their perception of Kylie will not have been altered by Tension II, if anything it served to strengthen the fact that she’s highly successful.

Streaming platforms would have to fully & consistently throw their support behind Kylie singles and albums in order for her to target “the general public”, and to experience more longevity in the album chart… but sadly that’s not going to happen. So I think we’ll have to get used to front-loaded sales as the new normal for Kylie albums. She’s certainly not alone in this.

As an artist in her late 50s, almost 40 years into her career, on her 17th album… I just can’t see Tension II as being a disaster for her. While we can feel disappointment about its chart run, ultimately it doesn’t matter a great deal… and it could also be considerably worse than this!

I also think we will get a tension live album next year when the tour kicks off.

I also agree the tension era will be largely remembered fondly by the fans with it adding two more number 1 albums to her tally and also it was the era that through up the biggest surprise of all with kylie having a huge hit.

The albums have given us some great songs and there are about 5 from across both albums that I will still be listening to in years to come.

I don't think it has broadly affected her career either and I certainly didn't imply it had.

Kylie is a business woman though and a very clever one at that, not quite in the realm of "Dolly", but very clever just the same.

Her outlier endevours generate alot of money, especially her real estate holdings that the whole family is involved in.

I would say the whole era has been financially successful, especially when you throw in Vegas on top of it all, but this part has got to be bleeding and Kylie/Darenote/BMG would be aware of that

I would imagine (imho) that would come into consideration when talking about how much money to throw behind the new era.

I never used the word embarrassment or hinted at it, so not sure why you are implying that in your post.

I also never said or hinted at the marketing being wrong of the album.

I think my "history says" and your "at the end of the day" pretty much allign to be fair.

As in my original post, I also wont be giving a critque of the Album here either.

I beg to differ on the "generally well recieved", but then again sensible people would ignore "Reviewers" anyhow.

What they say is just opinion, nothing more, nothing less. Just like my and your post.

I agree wholeheartedly.

I have 6 from both the albums on my kylie playlist

The top 3 from the Survival thread and LGA, SFM and SLY T2

I first heard my Mum playing BTDYK in the early 2000's as a kid. That whole song and that part where she jumps into "I'll take you back, I'll take you back again" is incredible.

But now I am digressing, sorry

Wouldn't call Padam Padam a HUGE hit - it still hasn't even reached 200M on Spotify globally. It was a proper hit in the UK and selected markets yes, but I would think 95% of the world population doesn't even know that it exist or remembers it. On Spotify, it charted in 8 countries overall and never reached the global top 200.

You can call me Debbie Downer or whatever but while Tension era fed most of the Kylie fans well, I think the style of the era (dance pop) just doesn't sell albums and provide hits today. She should move onto towards either heavier dance beats or ballads/slower songs. Imagine what a new Where the Wild Roses Grow could do on TikTok!!!
