August 7Aug 7 Without looking it up do any of you experts like Jade or John know who sang a balled called Guardians Of The Land in 1998? Reached just No.33. Was just played on Retro Charts Radio. Ballad, Radio 2 fare, wouldn't be played by Radio 1. I didn't know it. Never heard it.Do you know The Groove by Rodney Franklin from 1980, No.7 hit? I didn't recognise it but gives you artist, title, year and highest posiion.Great station BTW, every Top 40 hit from 1952 to 1999, played randomly including Christmas and banned songs. So could get Last Christmas next to Gary Glitter. 8am to 11pm.https://retrochartsradio.co.uk/ Edited August 7Aug 7 by CRAZY CHRIS
August 7Aug 7 Hi Chris, Guardians Of The Land sounds like a New Age/World Music pro-environment track and I feel I should remember it but I have only a mental image of an overly-earnest heart-in-right-place track. So I'm probably completely wrong! 😄I looked it up, anti-hunting song I didnt chart! The Groove was a funky summer 1980 instrumental as it was end of Uni and exam time for me, I think Rodney Franklin passed away recently. I usually listen to Radio 2 as I like their new music playlist, but sometimes pop into Boom Radio as they have more interesting lesser or forgotten hits from the 50/60/70's that never get played anywhere else now. The pub quiz last night had my online mate Mike Batt's intro to Summertime City as a clip, one I bought, theme to TV variety series Seaside Special (where ABBA debuted SOS) and only I recognised the top 5 hit. "Wombles" was one educated guess when the answer was revealed with the vocal bit. Mike has been posting the song the last couple of weeks along with his Symphony For Ukraine so everyone only have themselves to blame for not following him 😄
