just as well I went for the old-fashioned CD option plus youtube for any missing as a non-paying Spotify rare customer it doesn't let me skip tracks I don't need to hear... :D

I've voted... I found this one a bit of a trial tbh, I hadn't realised just how few of their songs I actually cared for. I'd say only about the top 10 are ones that I'd go out of my way to play, everything else that scored points was kinda equal and most of the rest is very average to me.

Re: the back catalogue strengths, they tend to be named second after The Beatles for 60's bands - but my view is that's due to their amazing live shows since, occasional great single, and habit. If I were to list my favourite 60's bands it might look more like this:

1. Beatles

2. Bee Gees

3. Beach Boys

4. Monkees

5. Mamas & Papas

6. The Four Tops

7. The Supremes

8. Rolling Stones

9. Kinks

10. The Temptations

Of course, the Rock 'n' Roll Hall Of Fame would wildly disagree about those pop-oriented un-nominated acts like The Monkees being on the list as they tend to be hypocritical about bands not writing their own songs and playing (which the Monkees actually did do too once they revolted against Don Kirshner) and using studio musicians (which everyone did) and giving free passes to solo singers and Motown bands. But it's all just opinion at the end of the day, and the absence of Led Zep, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix would no doubt give "wait, what!?" in some quarters, but I feel the same about The Four Tops & The Supremes even if they are all basically Holland-Dozier-Holland creations - but with one of the greatest soul singers ever in Levi Stubbs.

I've voted as well now. I would agree with what you said here.

For me the Stones were really good early on, brillinat from '65' to '73, good for a couple more years and sucked from '76 onwards bar the occasional track. Basically if it doesn't have Brian Jones or Mick Taylor on it you can forget it.

I do get what dandy* is saying, though I’m finding plenty to enjoy. I have to concentrate hard though and not just listen in the background while working.

I have a shortlist of 35 now so will need to do a bit more culling and then put them in order!

I’m going to extend the deadline until next Tuesday at 23:59 anyway, as I’m away this weekend.

Votes sent, my 25 is gonna bomb but I have to support it (and a handful of their other classics which will likely do much better x)

Gutted I couldn't give a nominations shout to You Can't Always Get What You Want, an essential </3

I’ll kick off the results this evening :)

Here we go…

Inevitably, 18 songs didn’t receive any points and we mourn their passing tonight…..

So in equal 69th place -
