November 11, 2025Nov 11 Author BJSC 179Sara Zozaya - BluThe latest edition of BJSC is currently under way in our very own nation thanks to Erin LeCount's victory in BJSC 178! This success banked us an auto-qualifier, so we decided to select something that could've been on shaky ground without this safety net.Jadakissnia wanted to return to inspired roots off the back of a recycle and we ended up with a song that hasn't even hit 2k views yet. 'Blu' by Sara Zozaya is a slow-burn Basque entry with gorgeous ambient yet also cinematic qualities, with its post-rock edge.We have now hit a round 10 qualifiers in a row thanks to the automatic pass to the final, hooray! 'Blu' can be found in slot #31.As hosts, we voted in both semi finals. We did not lose any votes from semi 2 but had to say goodbye to the following in semi 1:03 Lotunia • Lucy Camp - Tricks02 Trifoski • The Books - A Cold Freezin' NightTrifoski just 1 point away, noooooo. </3 better than expected in such a pop heavy semi though to be fair.
November 23, 2025Nov 23 Author BJSC 179 ResultsSara Zozaya - Blu32nd place | 112 pointsWe have now concluded our hosting duties following a high quality, memorable, MUNA-esque month in Jadakissnia. My auto-qualifier 'Blu' by Sara Zozaya gave us a 32nd place result in the final, with 112 points. This is our lowest finish of the year so far and our worst overall since 'cigarette burns' by moonvampire DNQed last year, in BJSC 169. But we can't begrudge a place in the final, especially when extending our Q streak to a pleasing 10 in the process. 'Blu' is also our 92nd qualifier to date so we'll definitely be eyeing up a round 100 Qs next year as a goal! This is our second 32nd place finish, following Natalia Nykiel's 'P.R.I.D.E.' four years ago in BJSC 140. Despite the low finish, we are still riding high in 3rd place in the latest YTD update, so continue chasing a best ever finish there with only one contest left in 2025. To be honest, our own result was eclipsed by the excitement of hosting in general. Thank you to everyone who took part in BJSC 179, we loved having you all *.*This time we were bestowed the honour of announcing the winning nation, FSR Rontvia. They achieved their victory with Estonian pick 'Luukered' by SADU, a first win in 11 years, their last pre-dating our time in the contest. A huge congratulations to them once again! The people of Jadakissnia know that we're passing the baton over to a safe pair of hands. On a taste level, we were chuffed with 'Luukered' as a champion, awarding it 10 points. Our gold medal went to Sovarasma with gazing-at-shoes stunner 'o(type)' by Lemondaze. This entry had a bit of a slow burn journey during the final results but eventually found its feet with a respectable 16th place finish. Silver was then awarded to Cumulonimbia with full fat banger 'COMET' by Ushko which smashed in 6th place, peaking in 2nd at one point. Pestolia rounded off our podium with a song we knew pre-contest, the fantastic team-up between Pearly Drops & Cub Sport, entitled 'Mermaid'. This was an underrated entry that finished right next to our own, in 33rd place. Still, at least it did make the final. Now it's time to sit back, relax and unleash our 180 pick. These were our BJSC 179 final votes in full:18 Sovarasma • Lemondaze - o(type)15 Cumulonimbia • Ushko - COMET13 Pestolia • Pearly Drops & Cub Sport - Mermaid12 Elëdan • holybones - These Are The Rooms11 Danæviia • Flawed Mangoes - Surreal10 FSR Rontvia • SADU - Luukered09 Persephonia • VACUUM MAN - Alimut08 Neliönoir • Nightbus - Angles Mortz07 Cheiron • Mercy Girl - No Sound06 Kathaldazia • Promis3 - Danijehelia05 Land of DW • Alice Sno - DREAM04 Deandria • Linda Perhacs - Parallelograms03 Zanmatony • Sara Landry - GIRLBOSS02 The Spodic Empire • Tracey Thorn - It's All True01 POPHub • Jane Inc. - what ifThank you to these nations for the following points in this edition:18 - Deandria13 - Aelandor + Terra Avium12 - Neliönoir9 - Kathaldazia + Sovarasma8 - Persephonia6 - Scotland 25 - Pestolia + The Spodic Empire4 - Cumulonimbia + FSR Rontvia3 - N DNTN2 - East Rukahavian1 - BronzilHere are some recaps to further immortalise this contest:<3 it has been a blast
January 1Jan 1 Author BJSC 180 ResultsDeath Hags - Oublie MoiDNQ - 23rd | 36 pointsWe were hoping to round off 2025 with a full house of qualifiers but that didn't quite go to plan! Jadakissnia unleashed French experimental dark synth entry 'Oublie Moi' from LA based artist Death Hags. This song was recorded for a Twin Peaks homage compilation and quickly hooked me in with its moody atmosphere and build-up of synths. 'Oublie Moi' was placed 6th in semi final 1 but sadly fell short of advancing to the final stage, finishing 23rd with 36 points. This was a particularly gutting time to DNQ as we were 3rd place in the latest YTD update, potentially on course for a new personal best, but this result was now guaranteed to boot us back down at the final hurdle. It was revealed yesterday that our EOY position is a frustrating 11th (with 1623 points) however this is still an improvement on last year's 16th. Overall, we cannot grumble about 2025, as 9 qualifiers is still a strong result and we took home a win, plus three further top 10 results. So, thank you to all of the support shown to Jadakissnia during our 10th anniversary year! We look forward to hopefully coming back strong in 2026 with a classic gothic sound up our sleeve for the next contest.Jadakissnians may have watched the final from the sidelines but still had plenty to root for in FSR Rontvia. The host nation continued to work their magic on our people as we awarded them an unprecedented 4th (!) set of 18 points this year, with the glorious 'Only Girl' by Man/Woman/Chainsaw. We did know and love this song pre-contest but had to give it all of our support nevertheless. This AQ finished in a respectable 13th place. Somehow, we were merely FSR Rontvia's second biggest fan this year despite the onslaught of top points, with Skall showing them even more love. Elsewhere, our silver medal went to A-Konohagakure, our highest points to this nation to date by far. This was for their latest pick 'Tumbal Proyek' by Sukatani. The pounding, gothic, post-punk sound was immediate Jadakissnia bait but the love spread far and wide, as 'Tumbal Proyek' achieved an impressive 7th place finish! Our podium was rounded off with the song that placed just ahead of Sukatani. This was Skall's gorgeous downtempo entry 'Rodl Glide' by Oneohtrix Point Never, achieving 241 points for that 6th place result. The winning song was ultimately revealed as Austra's 'Fallen Cloud'. This track fell short of our votes but was a commiseration nevertheless. February 1Feb 1 Author BJSC 181TRAITRS - The Lovely WoundedA new year of BJSC recently began in the ever reliable hands of Danæviia. My nation wanted to come back with a bang after ending 2025 on a pretty sour note, with a DNQ. We decided to embark on a late night YouTube crawl and fell in love with the sound of TRAITRS. The gothic, coldwave, post-punk style of 'The Lovely Wounded' immediately connected with our people. I found the affected vocal performance and lyrical content, always circling back around to "...in your eyes", pretty stunning too. There is a subtle shift in power throughout which makes for a satisfying build-up. TRAITRS also turned out to be unexpectedly relevant to the theming of this month's contest, modelled on hit BBC reality show The Traitors! It was recently announced that we QUALIFIED for the final of BJSC 181, so we're delighted to be back in the fold again. Thank you to anyone who supported us in semi 2. February 15Feb 15 Author Better stop procrastinating as a new batch of songs looms...BJSC 181 ResultsTRAITRS - The Lovely Wounded20th place | 182 pointsOur first result of 2026 prompted mixed feelings amongst Jadakissnians! Gothic pick 'The Lovely Wounded' by TRAITRS surprisingly spent a lot of time in the top 10, before unfortunately falling out towards the end of the night. So, that is frustrating, but we certainly can't grumble about a top 20 placing all the same - 20th to be exact, with 182 points. Jadakissnia had mostly landed predictions in the 21st to 30th region amongst fellow participants, except Cow and Iz shooting a bit higher in the top 10 and 15 respectively. So really, we over-performed compared to the overall consensus. This is our 59th top 20 result to date, so the pressure is on to find that round 60th next time! We currently have something quite witchy and abrasive planned for 182, so watch this space. As for 181, TRAITRS can be proud of a strong semi final showing, as they finished 5th with 80 points in semi final 2. The 20th place later achieved in the final becomes our joint most common position to date, along with several others, now obtained 4 times. Our previous 20th placers were 'Chimes' by OTHERLiiNE, 'Freedom Fighter' by Bowery Electric and 'DNA 1NTERLUDE' / 'DNA' by S1RENA, the latter achieved just last year in BJSC 177. Thank you to everyone who supported TRAITRS throughout the duration of BJSC 181!Cheiron decisively took home the first victory of 2026 with First Aid Kit's 'Out Of My Head'. We did not point this entry but loved to see a first time winner all the same. Congratulations to the people of Cheiron! We won't be visiting on this occasion, as they passed on hosting the next edition, so we instead turn our attention to Dalisska for 182. Their recent comeback has resonated with Jadakissnians so far, as they received our gold medal in BJSC 181, with 'The High Room' by Storefront Church! We fell in love with the moving lyrics, string section and even the artwork of this entry. Dalisska were rewarded with a strong 8th place finish. Hosts Danæviia received our silver medal with AQ pick 'Look Down On Us' by Maruja, a Persephonia artist recycle. We highly enjoyed the manic sax and rolling Rs amongst other touches in its lengthy duration. They finished in a respectable 18th place after languishing lower down on the leaderboard for a while. Deandria rounded off a top 3 entirely consisting of nations that begin with D! They sent 'Mejor*' by Merina Gris, an act containing recent Jadakissnia alumnus Sara Zozaya. This striking choice didn't perform as well as I was hoping, but still finished higher than Sara's 'Blu', placing 28th in the final. March 1Mar 1 Author BJSC 182VIOLENT VICKIE - SEROTONINAmazing alliterative artist VIOLENT VICKIE was selected to represent our nation in the latest edition of the BuzzJack Song Contest, 182 in Dalisska. This American singer and producer caught our attention with her striking mix of witch house, darkwave and gothic sounds - Jadakissnia catnip. 'SEROTONIN' dates back to 2020 but a visualiser incorporated on her tour was recently uploaded to YouTube, which belatedly lead me to the song. I ended up submitting this visualiser over the video in the end as I felt it suited the eerie vibe of 'SEROTONIN' perfectly. Interestingly, we unleashed an artist beginning with 'Vio' this time last year too, when Vioflesh represented us with 'Spring Nostalgia'. Unfortunately, their stunning 4th place success is out of reach for VIOLENT VICKIE, as 'SEROTONIN' DNQed for us. This was a shock result as only one poster had predicted this fate for Jadakissnia. 'SEROTONIN' finished 22nd in semi final 2, with 45 points. This is a slight improvement on our last DNQ, when 'Oublie Moi' by Death Hags placed 23rd in its semi with 36 points, two contests ago. 'SEROTONIN' is our 16th DNQ to date out of a possible 109 entries. We are gutted to not be advancing to the final this time! March 24Mar 24 Author BJSC 183edeprss & Brinettte - BENGRAMO (feat. Tedzkril)Jadakissnians were feeling pretty wild and free this month with no qualification streak to maintain. So we thought why not pick this risky Spanish language song with a mix of rap, techno and abrasive Crystal Castles vibes, that has just 178 views at the time of typing. We were instantly hooked on all of its noisy flip-flopping. The lyrics are... rather druggy. Bumpin' that xAll three of the artists credited on this song - edeprss, Brinettte and Tedzkril - appear to be really underground, so the low view count makes sense. I've been scouring their socials to learn more and I can only assume they're from Mexico, especially as the video is tagged with San Guillermo la Reforma as the location. edeprss describes this song as a 'fusion of trip-hop and trap' while the YouTube description of 'BENGRAMO' mentions that it represents euphoria and celebration between friends. Our expectations are low but let's hope Jadakissnia can have something to celebrate about, with 2/2 Q predictions at the time of posting... we'll just conveniently forget that only one person predicted us to DNQ last month. We can be found in slot 7 of semi 2!p.s. we recently performed decently in a spin-off...BJSC LotteryStrange Fruit - Monopolar14th place | 142 pointsWe were assigned a unique category each based on what number we picked. I ended up getting 'A Message. Send a song with an implicit/explicit message in its video and/or lyrics.' as my option. My choice was a little cheeky, as the vocals of shoegazey 'Monopolar' are so muffled that you can barely make out a message. But I'm reassured there was one as the band said it's about "...bottled-up anxiety, about talking to yourself. About holding onto dreams and hope while the world feels like it's getting darker". So a sentiment we could certainly get on board with.'Monopolar' finished in 14th place, winning a tie-break, which almost matched the song's 13th slot in the running order. This is a drop from our 6th place finish in the Schlagerfest II spin-off last year but much better than the 31st place fall from grace in Halloween V, towards the end of 2024.Our votes looked a little something like this:18 Terra Avium: Vampire Weekend - Mary Boone15 Summericia: Witches' Rune - Twilight13 Dobago: Nihiloxica - Source Of Denial12 Deandria: VOLTA - Juana (feat. April 19Apr 19 Author BJSC 184Le Belladone - NYMPHE♪ Spiriti exite, ex domo habite ♪Our fourth entry of the year is courtesy of intriguing talent Le Belladone, who is based in Québec. Mostly French language song (sorry Brer - there are Latin chants too) 'NYMPHE' is a metamorphosis set to music, as the scarred protagonist is reborn as a magical deity. I was swiftly taken in by the production of this song which combines experimental pop sensibilities with infectious bassy, electronic sounds. The enchanting imagery and range of her vocals also added to the appeal. As for the visuals, I enjoyed getting lost in the outdoor shots, although she was definitely staring into my soul during those bath tub scenes. We have been drawn in slot #6 of semi 2. Here's hoping we can build our Q streak back up to 2 🙏I must also point out that not one, but two Jadakissnia recycles have appeared in the contest! Ennea have sent KOMPROMAT (we finished 21st with 'Niemand' back in 2023) while Land of DW chose TEMMIS (they placed 2nd for Jadakissnia with 'ICE 579' in 2024) - so best of luck to both.BJSC 183 Resultsedeprss & Brinettte - BENGRAMO (feat. Tedzkril) 28th place | 148 pointsObscure trio edepress, Brinettte and Tedzkril got off to a promising start for Jadakissnia in the latest final results thread, even boasting a top 5 position at one point. But they eventually settled for the more realistic result of 28th place by the end, with 148 points. They technically still over-performed after mostly receiving predictions in the 30s. So... we'll take that, especially coming off the back of a DNQ. It was satisfying to qualify with such an unknown song even if not quite lighting up that final scoreboard. 'BENGRAMO' still only has 229 views at the time of typing and its point of discovery on Spotify continues to solely trace back to the playlists for BJSC 183! This is our second top 30 result of the year after finishing 20th with 'The Lovely Wounded' by TRAITRS back in BJSC 181. It was later revealed that our semi final position was 11th place with 64 points, which was a lot better than expected. Thank you everyone who supported this loveable racket! The best story of the month has to be our 18 pointer claiming victory! This was Fljótavík's genius spoken word pick 'Mum Does The Washing' by Joshua Idehen, which invited a lot of discussion, from attracting a wild range of odds to pretty much every line being quotable. I can confirm its impact extends to the ears of inactive participants Bal, Joseph and Lotti, as it was played to them in real life, when we spent time together last weekend. We were all a captive audience indeed. This is the first time my gold medal has won the contest since Sovarasma sent Fat Dog's 'King of the Slugs' over two years ago. A huge congrats to Fljótavík once again! They declined hosting duties for 184 so the baton has passed on to République d'Áskorza. Elsewhere, Terra Avium claimed our silver medal with 'The Rat' by Walkmen, which appears to be a bit of an alt cult classic - however I was probably listening to something like 'Babycakes' instead when it first came out. So we're grateful it was unleashed. This entry settled for 21st place after losing out on a tiebreak to Cumulonimbia. Taking our bronze was Hendinia with 'Starry Eyed' by Baby Jane, a pre-contest favourite. Shockingly this is the first time this nation has ever appeared on our podium in 11 years of competing! So congrats for breaking through. Next stop, a silver medal. Yesterday at 20:311 day Author BJSC 185Liv Del Estal - CŒUR TITANEI wasn't lying when I said I'd be unleashing a 'sad banger' this month! 'CŒUR TITANE', or 'TITANIUM HEART', is taken from French singer and actress Liv Del Estal's latest EP FRAGILE HARDCORE, released just last month. Her claim to fame was starring on the French version of The Voice back in 2018, where she was eliminated just before the quarter finals. I swear we're not intentionally poaching The Voice-adjacent contestants, after Erin LeCount also starred on The Voice Kids! I stumbled across 'CŒUR TITANE' and immediately fell in love with its urgent dance-pop sound and emotive vocals. We've now sent two French language songs in a row, but this is our least alt sounding entry since the aforementioned LeCount, as we occasionally enjoy taking breaks from 'toaster in the bath' entries.Liv Del Estal is your semi one opener so we hope the BJSC masses will conclude that she kicks off the contest in style.BJSC 184 ResultsLe Belladone - NYMPHE28th place | 141 pointsLe Belladone's result in the previous contest showed remarkable consistency for our nation as we finished in 28th place for a second edition in a row, this time with 7 fewer points. Last month there was a glaring oversight in our commentary as we neglected to mention that 'BENGRAMO' was our first ever 28th result, which is particularly notable - as we've now achieved every position in the top 30! Typical that we waited over 11 years to unlock a 28th place and then got two in a row. Insert analogy about buses. This is now our third top 30 result of 2026 in a more modest year for Jadakissnian success so far. It was also revealed that 'NYMPHE' finished 14th in the semi with 55 points. Thank you to everyone who supported us in this edition!Zephyra Continuum took home the trophy this time with 'Struck' by Charlotte MacInnes. Jadakissnia did not point this entry, but we have supported this nation in the past, plus couldn't get too greedy after our 18 won the previous edition. Congratulations to them once again! Our favourite finalist, trip-hop beauty 'HOW THE EYE' by KHOIBA, unfortunately placed in the bottom 5 for Deandria - in 37th place. What a robbery I tell thee. Our silver medal thankfully performed pretty well albeit was not quite the winner some were predicting. The quirky 'Klouds Will Carry Me To Sleep' by Gelli Haha was a big pre-contest favourite for us and finished in 10th place for Terra Avium. Finally, Dalisska bagged our bronze medal, with 'Kelpie' by Internet Islands. This could be found within the bottom three, in 39th place.
