Any big new releases out soon? I can see c&s holding #1 until something new and big comes along, think the chance has gone now for Billie or Chappell
isn't Bruno Mars/Gaga out on Fri? or just a rumour?

Post Malone’s album is out on Friday. Perhaps something will take off majorly from it, I expect it’ll just give him another Top 40 though and perhaps push Guy For That to Top 20.

Hozier’s also got an EP. It would be hard to get the success of Too Sweet again, but you never know!

Spotify:

New Peak:

47. Lost Frequencies, Tom Odell- Black Friday (pretty like the sun)

48. Chappell Roan- Casual

52. Gigi Perez- Sailor Song

80. Alex Warren- Carry You Home

Re-Entries:

183. Dua Lipa- Training Season

192. Taylor Swift- Down Bad

195. Taylor Swift- cardigan

196. OneRepublic- I Ain't Worried

199. Foster The People- Pumped Up Kicks

Bruno / Gaga could definitely pull some decent numbers (but I am a Gaga / Stan here so I could be wishful thinking) but big name

Collaborations are sometimes difficult to call and it depends on song itself.

Sabrina may also do well with whatever the third single is from her album. I presume something will get pushed on album release day.

IF Bruno/Gaga drops I could see potential #1.

Sadly think the ship has sailed for both Chappell and Birds Of A Feather now.

Neither have released music videos yet so I think both still could if they release their videos before ACR hits.

When are Chappell / Billie due to go to ACR out of interest?

I do like both songs a lot and was rooting for both of them to get a shot at number one for the singles.

I think it's safe to say 'Good Luck, Babe!' probably isn't getting one now if it hasn't already, which I find absolutely bizarre.

Someone on Facebook posted

"When will people realise "Mr Brightside" is just an industry joke? The commercial playlist streaming companies disagreed with OCC on how the charts should be compiled. They spotted a flaw - if they all included a certain track in their playlists, which are played in supermarkets, large stores, call centres, etc, that would be enough to keep that track on the chart. The song they chose was "Mr Brightside". Few people actively choose to listen to that track (good as it may be); we just hear it without having the option not to. It's record as the longest running track on the chart is entirely bogus."

This is bollocks, right?

What a wild conspiracy theory  very much bogus, it's clearly an enduring favourite for many (as much as I don't totally get why x).

"BIRDS OF A FEATHER" up to a new peak of #2 on Apple Music.

Just looking through the spotify numbers and the Olympics performance definitely seems to have helped:

Friday: -28,000 week on week.

Saturday: -17,000 week on week.

Sunday (performance): +20,000 week on week.

Monday: +39,000 week on week.

Tuesday: +29,000 week on week.

Also boosted the song quite a bit on youtube but the views are split between a number of videos which aren't combined on Kworb (Olympics performance/lyric video/video by Finneas) so not sure how much of a boost in the UK it got. The boost should help it avoid ACR for a few more weeks at least!

Yeah, I mean the song was hugely popular during the download era and it's sort of carried on from there. It wasn't just chosen at random

Yeah that’s complete bollocks about Mr. Brightside. There’s plenty of much more egregious examples of songs getting heavy playlist promotion and autoplay than that.

I’m sure Mr. Brightside does get some good playlisting but that’s cos it’s popular in the first place.

Yeah it's like an ever-expanding chicken-and-egg circle: it gets good playlisting partly because it's so popular, but it's popular partly because it gets good playlisting. I personally have never understood why out of so many songs of that era/ilk that's the one that done what it's done, but I've stopped questioning it by this point.

I think in fairness, the nature of the charts exaggerates "Mr. Brightside" to an extent compared to its contemporaries. Since streaming has been part of the chart, it's accumulated over 300 weeks in the Official Top 100, while for instance "Somebody Told Me", which gets nearly half as many streams as it every day, has managed 0 weeks in the same period. Anything that just skates by on the chart in perpetuity is gonna look bigger than it is, while anything that's just outside feels like it's in no man's land, completely forgotten and un-appreciated.
Also Fleetwood Mac get stuck chart for ages too dreams and everywhere

Well there’s an actual reason for Dreams (The guy on the skateboard with orange juice on TikTok) - and Everywhere just seems to be a lesser Mr. Brightside at this point.
