Sam, Tatum and Esi were/are the best presenters on KISS. If I was Head of Radio 1, I'd try and poach Tatum from KISS and bring back the late-night entertainment show that aired Mondays - Wednesdays 21:00 - 23:00 and have Sam and Tatum host it, they have great chemistry from their podcast.

When Tyler West joined KISS Breakfast and left the drive show, KISS should've given it to Sam and Tatum, then signed Rio Fredrika for Tatum's old slot. If they did that, I don't think Sam would've joined a direct competitor of KISS, Radio 1, but KISS chose to have one of their strongest and longest-running presenters only on the weekend.

I understand that this isn't a permanent slot for Sam but Minah Shannon (May 2025), Lauren Redfern (June 2025), Mylo and Rosie (July 2025) and Charley Marlowe (August 2025) have all hosted the slot since Radio 1 re-introduced it in January 2025 and now have many cover opportunities on the station.

Dean has just fallen into the same spot as Jamie and Vick. He’s so frequently off that it leaves me wondering why he still has a spot. Nat is also falling into this spot but its a newer habit of hers. Granted i’d much rather her be in weekdays anyways and there’s the added bonus of nat actually being a good presenter! As with KISS I 100% agree that Tatum needs to go, she’s too good a presenter to not even be on FM radio anymore. Rio and Talina are right there and can get carried over easily. I think a major R1 lineup change is on the way cause most weekday presenters have had these slots for like 2-3 years now iirc (Dean, RMC, M&M, VKJ; with Greg having the Breakfast slot longer as one of UK radio’s biggest names now).

also forgot to mention but it looks like Danni is gonna solo the breakfast show tmrw. Although the anthems slot is listing Sam too, breakfast only lists Danni. she’s definitely top 3 r1 presenters so i’m fully behind this!

I don't think Nat having a lot of time off is necessarily an issue as she's only on the weekends. However, for Dean, Vick and Jamie it is an issue as their shows are on 4 days a week.

Very much enjoyed the Ore and Swarzy pairing yesterday. The weekend/weekday daytime schedule needs a HUGE refresh in my opinion and this pairing needs to be on their somewhere, Weekend Breakfast would work for them I feel? And Swarzy with Sam today works well and I'm sure Ore with Danni will work in a couple of weeks.

Also Big Weekend is rumoured to be in Cardiff 2027.

Greg James will get an extra half hour on BBC Radio 1 Breakfast this summer to make up for his time off at Taylor Swift’s wedding(!).

The station says its summer 2026 schedule will begin on Monday 20 July, with Greg staying on air until 11am from Monday to Thursday.

The change means Radio 1 Breakfast will run for four hours during the summer, before the usual schedule returns on Monday 7 September, when Greg is back on from 7am to 10:30am.

Rickie Haywood-Williams, Melvin Odoom and Charlie Hedges will move to an 11am start during the same period, continuing with entertainment, music and Live Lounge performances.

On Fridays, Nat O’Leary and Vicky Hawkesworth will present Radio 1 Anthems from 10am to 11am, with songs from the 2000s, 10s and 20s.

Greg said: “I took some last minute days off for a destination wedding I had to go to and I need to make the time up to be honest so it feels like 30 mins a day over the summer is a good plan.”

Aled Haydn Jones, Head of BBC Radio 1, said the station was adjusting to changes in younger listeners’ routines over the summer.

Radio 1 will also broadcast live festival coverage from Ibiza, Malta and Reading and Leeds this summer, following earlier weekends at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Download, TRNSMT and Parklife.

I'm just listening back to his first show now. I really liked him on Kiss so moving to do some Radio 1 cover is amazing news for him.

Agreed, I think this will be their last summer on Radio 1 to be honest and they'll be replaced in September by Sam and Danni, with Mylo and Rosie replacing them.

Dance Weekend in Ibiza confirmed for 31st July-2nd August

Kicks off on 30th July with a Warm Up party with Danny Howard from 6pm.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday daytime is all dance music as usual (don't worry The Official Chart is still airing as normal).

TBC on the rest of the lineup.

I always thought breakfast being on until 10.30am was a bit ridiculous.
