September 30, 20241 yr Never expected Shed Seven to be number 1 let alone have such a lead, im totally shocked by Ed Sheeran been as low as 5 and also shocked to see Michael Buble best of only at 28 as i though Ed would be number 1 and Buble top 5. Kylie at 35 isnt a big surprise but im just hoping she can stay top 75 on Friday. Edited September 30, 20241 yr by Padamic_Tension

October 1, 20241 yr The title of Ed’s album also makes it sound like it’s a live album. One of the most weirdly marketed hits albums I’ve seen, the physical sales must be dire. I guess it will hang around in the top 30 regardless thanks to streams though. Wait, it’s not!?
October 1, 20241 yr still shocked at Shed Seven doing so well we all going oh Ed's GH is not doing well cos GH are not something for 2024... but what do you think the Shed Seven album is? It's a freeking GH :D even worse, one of them GH with an orchestra, like Take That did... really don't get how they're so popular out of the blue. Back in the day they were never that popular. And suddenly in Jan 2024, they had their first #1 album selling 17K, and now they're even doing better, already beaten that in the Mon Mids...
October 1, 20241 yr Wait, it’s not!? Kind of not surprised at its sales then considering millions have the albums the songs are all off.

Will this be combined sales wise with the January release?
October 1, 20241 yr Combined with the January release? It's a completely different album. That was a studio album, this is basically an orchestral greatest hits.
October 1, 20241 yr LCA could easily add 2,000 sales if cd & cassette released. My oh my did 2,150 across both in 1st week.

October 1, 20241 yr Most of those who like Ed probably own his albums anyway i guess, I brought his albums earlier this year I wish I had of knew he was bringing out a gh it would have saved me some money. Edited October 1, 20241 yr by kimberley88
October 1, 20241 yr I still find it crazy weird that the biggest UK star of the last 10 years, with 62 top 40 hits to his name as we saw in the last Quiz, releases a GH and no one cares same for Buble, one of the biggest stars in the world and then comes Shed Seven, who were a sorta 3rd-class britpop, miles away from Oasis/Blur/Pulp but also on a lower league than Elastica/Supergrass/Bluetones etc Shed Seven's biggest achievement album-wise were a couple 1-week low top 10 albums in the 90s they never got a platinum album and now out of the blue are already on 20K in the Mon Mids with an orchestral GH
October 1, 20241 yr presumably Shed Seven have variants and heavy marketing to their base whereas this Ed GH he's just put out with just about no fanfare as it's clear the whole thing is just a record label exercise in giving Ed extra free residency in the upper region of the albums chart now that 'Divide' has finally stopped being a mainstay of the top 40

Although Ed would be apart of that too he’s a little obsessed with records and charts I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s read this forum a good few times
October 1, 20241 yr There's nothing new at all on Ed's GH album and it's not even really being marketed as one, not to mention that, by his standards, it feels a little lowkey. It'll trickle along on streams well but I see nothing major to actually make it shift physicals this week.

Pulp could, but Bluetones, Elastica and maybe even Supergrass to this extent couldn't manage this in 2024. Absolutely no doubt the variations are a huge factor. But considering Shed Seven are completely self-managed and promoted the numbers are incredible. @1838836088380743781 Edited October 1, 20241 yr by briddj
