Would it be OK to have the weekend for this?

Yes, I can extend the deadline to Sunday. I only picked 1st Nov as it was a month after I started the rate.

New deadline - Sunday 3rd November

63 of the 80 songs received votes. I will reveal the 17 nil pointers over the next three days. Dandy sent me a score for every song below his top 30 so I'll include the Dandy Score for each of these 0 point songs when I post them.

Seal - The Beginning

Chart peak: 24

Dandy score: 6/10

Seal is the only artist that Trevor Horn has stuck with so he has nine songs in this rate. The Beginning was the third single taken from his debut album.

The chorus is much stronger than the verses on that one. It’s kinda chaotic and feels very of its time now.

Pato Banton with Sting - Spirits In The Material World

Chart peak: 36

Dandy score: 2/10

Pato Banton's cover of the 1981 song by The Police was recorded for the soundtrack to 'Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls'. He later re-recorded the song without Sting for his greatest hits album in 2008 and that was the only version I could find on Spotify.

Deserved nil pointer there, hopefully the three I rated worse are still to come in the nil points group

Tina Turner - Whatever You Want

Chart peak: 23

Dandy score: 7/10

This song was written by Arthur Baker, Fred Zarr and Taylor Dayne who later recorded her own version. It was my own favourite out of the four songs she has here.

Rod Stewart - Shotgun Wedding

Chart peak: 21

Dandy score: 4/10

Rod klaxon! Shotgun Wedding was originally a top 10 hit for Roy C in 1966. Rod Stewart's cover was taken from his compilation 'Lead Vocalist' which was a mixture of old songs and newly recorded cover versions.

Tina Turner was reasonably close for me, it was pretty decent and better than I was expecting as I'm not usually a huge fan of her music
I should have included my chart positions for some of these - but sadly most of them are 90's tracks from years I havent digitised yet  Grenfell got nowt, though, from me, 10/10 for being worthy, 1/10 musically.

Seal - I'm Alive

Chart peak: 4

Dandy score: 6/10

This was part of a double A side single with the re-issued Kiss From A Rose which I think got all the airplay so it's not really well known.

I'm Alive was such an odd choice of AA from the second Seal album, it's one of my least favourites on what is actually a pretty strong record.
