There's a whole thread that can be made out of "Songs that charted in the UK in a different mix but now the main one that gets played is the original instead" except with a snappier title. I remember about a decade ago, it was irritatingly impossible to find the 'right' version of Ian Van Dahl's Castles in the Sky on YouTube, I think I ended up finding it on something like page 11 or 12 of the results as all the other versions were this weird other mix that might have been the original.

ATB's 9pm has been mentioned here before where the original, 1998 version seems to have replaced the Sequential One 1999 mix that was the main one people bought and danced to on its UK smash release. As for Corona, it was the UK mix I heard all the time until some point in the 2010s, possibly even as late as 2017 when the film 'The Disaster Artist' used it.

Please share the real mix! I’m used to the one on Now 49 which would be that one.

It took me a while to find the right UK mix of ATB’s Don’t Stop as well.

Finding the best (and correct) version of Tomcraft's Loneliness on Spotify was a mission for me. You've got the Radio Cut, the Video Cut, the MUC Cut and the Klub Cut.

The Video Cut is the definitive best version of course.

Edit: actually no, it's not even that or any of those. It's the UK Radio Edit version

I Meed a Miracle is the worst one!! After what happened with the dispute, it disappeared, and e en now the ORIGINAL is very hard to find. There were a lot of new versions over the years.

Interesting read so far.

I am curious to hear the UK mixes of all the tracks mentioned above.

Below are the "original" mixes of Loneliness and 9PM that I've been listening since day 1!!!

Slightly off topic but I only realised last year that Flamboyant by the Pet Shop Boys is basically a Tomcraft production. Not sure how I didn't hear it at the time as you can clearly hear the influence from Loneliness.
^ That version of 'Loneliness' sounds completely wrong without a proper beat on it!

Absolutely 100%, that first version makes my blood boil with the annoying drum beat going all the way through and the weird piano instrumental bits.

This version has the immense synthy trance section without any overlay.

Tomcraft actually had a hand in producing it, so it's not merely a coincidence!

(*edit - unless of course that is actually what you meant )

Luckily in 2016 this was uploaded which, although with a longer intro than the Now 49 one, is primarily the 'right' version of Castles in the Sky:

It's still further down the first page of the results as the other mix is at the top despite having less views, probably because it's from an official artist channel.

A lot of UK radio edits are missing on Spotify, which doesn't help, because playlists use them and labels also pick these versions up from labels for compilation CDs, so over time the originals kind of fade away in some people's memories.

Here are a few UK radio edits/hit versions of dance songs that aren't on Spotify...but where original/other mixes are:

ATC - Around The World (La La La La La) [similar to the original but with some changed percussion and other added sound effects]

Dana Rayne - Object Of My Desire [none of the mixes on Spotify are the UK hit mix]

Love Inc - You're A Superstar [the known version these days has a longer synthy intro, this UK edit cut that out]

Love Inc - Broken Bones [there's no way the original version would have been a top 10 hit in the UK, this is a lot snappier and more modern sounding for its era]

Special D - Come With Me [again, a much snappier mix for the UK]

As for Ian Van Dahl, all of their hits are missing from Spotify apart from Castles In The Sky :(

As an aside btw, Basshunter's Now You're Gone was pitched up for its UK release, I was surprised to hear at the time that this was the first English translated version of the original Boten Anna, as it feels way too slow.
