Yes for non chart followers the perception is often so different from those of us who follow the charts, both examples you gave are good examples, the records simply show a number 1 and for the casual reader who may see that wont follow up to see how it did after whereas people like myself do.

Also very true re Padam Padam and other songs such as the loco motion the general public would say they were number 1 hits.

where is it midweek for week 2?
Sales stand at 38,099 as of week 2 - hopefully it can crawl to silver at some point.

Sales in the lower were high enough this week. Many other weeks it would be enough to stay top 40 but in the grand scheme of things it makes no difference as in all liklihood it will be her overall lowest selling studio album.

The album chart needs to change!!!

Physical sales need more weighting!

An artist of Kylies calibre lasting one week in the top 40 because of playlist streams counting towards album sales is just ridiculous!!

Kylie aside I’m surprised record companies are not demanding change - it’s the norm now for albums to go Top 5 to outside the Top 100 and album campaigns (of which there is months and months or planning etc.,) now literally are a 1 week wonder.

To be fair she fell 1-25 on the physical album chart (and 1-21 on the album sales chart) as well :kink:

I understand the sentiment in general but this is not the best album to make an example of, it's had a very significant dropoff in week 2 no matter how you slice it! It's actually done quite well to stay as high as #52 considering (Shed Seven's album also went 1-21 on sales a few weeks ago for example and that was out of the top 100 entirely on the overall chart).
