When you first hear a song, your initial impression can be strong , but does it accurately reflect the song's quality? Some tracks take multiple listens to fully appreciate, while others make an immediate impact. How many times do you personnally need to listen to a song before feeling confident in ranking or rating it?

Good question. I think it differs depending on the song but generally I would say at least 5-6 times. It's not often that I love a song on first hearing it, even my absolute faves will have taken a while to grow on me.

For the main part (80%) - 1 time to qualify😉 there must be an instant match, the first impression defines the entry level. I need a second time just for songs (20%) I'm not 100% sure about or when competitiveness in the chart is too strong

it's very rarely that a song grabs me so much on later listens🙃

Initial check for me is one time, but my initial check is quite broad, so I put a lot of stuff for re-listen. If it does not catch me really after 3-4 listens I drop it. However, sometimes it happens that songs come back based on recommendations here so that I give the song further chances. Same is true for artists I usually rate high.

Certainly more than once, haha.

Anywhere between 5-10 listens I tink as some songs take a little bit of time to fully sink in.

Say that your ranking of it can always change.

2 times for the first impression rate

Somewhere from 8 to 10 times for more accurate rate, if I like a song after the first two plays.
