I think this thread should be renamed to "Bizarre Collaborations" or something. "Ridiculous" has too much of a negative aspect to it imo!

 

Maybe not quite the weirdest but Mary J. Blige teaming up with U2 was also a bit unexpected but quite nice:

I love this so much but yeah, I agree it's such a random collab! Especially at the time when I don't think Taylor was collabing all that often with anyone!

The Matt Terry version was a remix of an Enrique song that was already out. It didn't really make a lot of sense as a collaboration but it was just Simon trying to cash in on the reggaetón mini-trend going on at the time.

I did think that it already been a hit elsewhere and this was a remix (like the Bieber Despacito situation) but couldn't remember for certain. Either way a very odd decision for a first 'proper,' single. Guessing he never actually met either of them a la Olly Murs/Flo Rida lol.

Whoever signed off Lady Gaga getting R Kelly to feature on Do What U Want out of ALL her songs needs to be investigated lol. Even 2013 felt too late for that to be acceptable. No wonder the video got scrapped.

Then Justin Bieber did a collab even the year after^

 

Another one that came to mind recently was Chipmunk/Chris Brown - Champion, like how on earth did Chip get Breezy on that when he was a relative nobody outside the UK?
