Would it be worth adding this to the charts section?

5,6,7,8 becoming Steps first #1 single. Reaching #1 in Australia.

Merci :)

Definitely and added :)

Does anyone have concrete feats about their tours btw?

Such a shame they only won one Brit Award - I am sure there were allegations of voter fraud for Breakthrough Act in 1999 (a large number of votes for Belle & Sebastian came from one location, or something to that effect)

Yup! They definitely deserved ‘Best newcomer’ if you ask me. Still, the history books show us something different and I think the fraude hasn’t been proved 100%?
Nearly all the votes came from one university campus somewhere... definitely rigged. That is why they got a made up award the following year to make up for it, they wouldn't have gotten the follow up one had they won the Best Newcomer.
  • 2 weeks later...
Definitly something was a miss with the Belle & Sebastian vote that year, nothing was ever 100% confirmed but it was pretty much 99%.

I see and shame they didn’t investigate it more?

Overall, I think Steps are worthy of some more awards if you ask me.

I feel like the music industry at large is snobby to Steps, sadly! Not just then, but sadly still now. I felt that this was evident in the recent Radio 2 "best British groups" poll, a long list of groups and Steps weren't included. Fairly sure they have to be one of the UK's best selling acts not to have been included.
That just snobbery as Steps are easily up there as a big seller.

Poor Steps, they are truly a great group for what they are which is a pure pop group. Not just the sales, the many top 5s but also the tours which they continue to sell even to this day.

Steps had the last laugh really as many artists heavily awarded by Brits went on to much less success than them.
Their biggest accomplishment was overcoming their differences and healing the rift to reform and deliver some amazing songs, albums and tours.

Amen to this
