So...

The good: I think her voice is really gorgeous on this. Another perfect vocal for Bunton.

The mixed: It does reinterpret the song.

The bad: Yeah, I don't like the orchestration of this at all. 2 Become 1 is an uncommonly beautiful 90s pop song...and it's a shame to lose the haunting qualities of it with this. The little flourishes this version brings are more random than anything. This falls into the category of "why would you listen to this over the original?" for me.

I do get the logic of it. If Emma's going to make a splash, it's probably safest to go with a nostalgic throw-back. I think there's a little fault in that strategy just because she's already attempted a 2 Become 1 solo cover...that people were indifferent to even with a Robbie Williams feature (that part I think was a mistake, but that's besides the point...).

Here's how I see it with Emma. If this is how she wants to express herself musically, she's the artist...and I hope she's fulfilled by it. But that has to be taken with the knowledge that...this level of safe/soft/sweet just isn't where her audience is at by and large.

I didn’t make this but I thought I’d share!

Just got round to listening it is a lovely version!

It’s a lovely performance

Unfortunately it didn’t translate into great sales, it’s currently #122 on iTunes. No sign of the Spice Girls original in the Top 200 either!

Lovely pretty performance, she looks great!

135 on ITUNES

Beautiful performance on Strictly on Christmas Day ☺️🎄❄️

I definitely think this being released under 19 is a precursor to more music coming in 2025 - at least I hope it is!

It does seem suspiciously like their last campaign, remind everyone she is a spice girl and one of the main voices of the band, the sweet, appreciates her roots girl next door thing. We shall see but fingers crossed 🤞

Thats not too bad, considering everything about its release...

What I find incredibly bad is her streams on Spotify... even the video is not doing too bad (400,000 views so far!) for solo-Spice standards on YouTube but it completely flatlined on Spotify as it hasnt event reached 40,000 streams :o

Although the fact it's already 3rd in her Popular list says a lot about her current reach on Spotify :kink:

You know, I was happy for a split second that she was back with Simon, but then I remembered that Simon is a dinnosaur who has no idea about streaming/digital profiling...

As long as he caters to the physical buying fans, she will be fine. She is never going to get a hit single or a certified album at this stage in her career, first week high peak and a possible second week on the chart, supported by a small tour will be perfect for her.

I would LOVE a solo tour from her but I think Bunton needs to get out there as a live performer first... Do the festival rounds, build an audience. She has none at the moment but she does have the potential at least...

They are in strange positions where it's not like any of them - Mel C or Emma - could sell out a tour of their own. Hell, Mel C only sold out ONE of her last theatre tour dates - London - after 25 years of touring. It sucks, but thats where they are at when it comes to live shows. Emma is an even worst position because she is not known as a live act, having not toured on her own since launching her solo career.

I could see her doing a Top10 album first week + a second week in Top100 then drop completely, and do the festival rounds. But Emma has to commit to it! hell, do some adverts on the side to bring in a bit more cash - like she did during Free Me era - but don't give up on the touring!!!!

Yes I think that sounds like a perfect plan re the festivals, there is no reason at all that she can't do them she could easily headline something like Mighty Hooplah for a start. Look at Melanie she does all kinds from Glastonbury right to Pub in the Park, they do pay nicely too and I'm sure Emma could command enough to make it worthwhile.
