Control is perhaps a bit dated now, but I've always had a soft spot for it and Matrix & Futurebound's other singles.

Dominique I think is my biggest loss so far, such a quirky song <3 You're My Best Friend is great too.

She's So Lovely is a lovely song. Underrated here.

I was expecting Donna Summer - I Don't Wanna Get Hurt to go through to the semifinals. It's one of SAW's best moments imo.

I also thought Kelly Clarkson - Underneath The Tree would be one of the seminfinalists. I'm not complaining on this though.

Ugh so many good songs going out at the moment - Blur, All Saints, Elton, Strokes would all likely have been in my points in the final.

Also don't think I gave points to Republica - I definitely should have, great song.

Esmee Denters - Outta Here

REO Speedwagon - Keep On Loving You

The X-Ecutioners featuring Mike Shinoda and Mr. Hahn of Linkin Park - It's Goin' Down

This was REO Speedwagon's biggest UK hit and one of two Billboard number 1 singles. The group played their final ever concert in December last year. From 2009, Outta Here was the only top 40 hit for the Dutch singer Esmee Denters who attempted to revive her career six years later by entering The Voice UK.

Tom Grennan - Little Bit Of Love

The Turtles - Elenore

Kim Wilde - Never Trust A Stranger

This was part of Kim Wilde's 1986/88 revival which produced six top 10 hits to add to the two she had in 1981. Going back much further, Elenore was one of three hits in the late 60s for the American group The Turtles.

James Arthur and Anne-Marie – Rewrite The Stars

Jax Jones featuring MNEK - Where Did You Go?

Van Halen - Jump

Another 80s US number 1 here and Van Halen's highest charting single in the UK. From 2018, Rewrite The Stars by James Arthur and Anne-Marie was their version of a song from The Greatest Showman from the previous year.

Debbie Gibson - Shake Your Love

Honeyz - Won't Take It Lying Down

Camille Jones vs. Fedde Le Grand – The Creeps

Oakenfold featuring Brittany Murphy – Faster Kill Pussycat

Diana Ross and Lionel Richie – Endless Love

Usher featuring Pitbull - DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love

And here's another 80s American number 1 single, this one spent nine weeks at the summit. Debbie Gibson had two but Shake Your Love was not one of them. Honeyz and Pitbull both lose their second song. We've already had Tom, Jax, Howard and Jesus Jones (the group) and now a fifth, Camille, appears.

Apollo Four Forty – Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Dub

Booker T. & the M.G.'s – Green Onions

Lizzo - Good As Hell

Green Onions reached the top 3 in the US in 1962 but wasn't a hit in the UK until 1979 after being used in the film 'Quadrophenia'. As seen on the TOTP 1996 repeats this month, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Dub was the first of three top 10 singles for Apollo Four Forty.

Ah no I lost Jump (one of the first songs I remember loving) AND Green Onions (which I've used as backing music on the radio absolutely loads) today! Surprised the latter got that many points though, good showing for it.
Doubled my losses since 45 points with 'Endless Love', 'She's So Lovely', and 'Keep On Loving You' dropping out - yes, all very AOR core, but the latter especially is quite the pleasure.

OMG I've lost so many in the last few rounds :(

'Ain't Talkin Bout Dub' is possibly my favourite dance song ever, it's just flawless! That guitar riff intro just draws you in every time.

Donna Summer's 'I Don't Wanna Get Hurt' is SAW at their finest, that, along with Kim Wilde's 'Never Trust A Stranger' and Debbie Gibson's 'Shake Your Love' are 80s pop classics that I love, shame they've all dropped out.

I also lost 'Almost Unreal', 'Outta Here' and 'Can You Forgive Her', although I can at least console myself with the fact that there is another iconic Pet Shop Boys track still to come... hopefully not for a while though :)

Oh my God. I lost 4 I've voted yesterday: Tom Grennan- Little Bit Of Love, James Arthur and Anne-Marie – Rewrite The Stars, Jax Jones featuring MNEK - Where Did You Go? and Oakenfold featuring Brittany Murphy – Faster Kill Pussycat

I've a feeling the cutoff point is coming soon.

Martin Jensen - Solo Dance

Nine Inch Nails - The Hand That Feeds

Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Pandora's Box

Wink – Higher State of Consciousness (remix)

Higher State of Consciousness reached number 8 for Josh Wink in 1995 but this remix took it one place higher the following year. My book of hit singles shows the artist as Winx but it seems to be credited to Wink elsewhere so that's what I'm putting here. OMD had a bit of a revival in 1991 with Sailing On The Seven Seas getting to number 3, their first top 10 hit since 1984. It was followed up by Pandora's Box.

Lucid - I Can't Help Myself

Some more 90s dance now with this one from 1998. It was one of three top 30 hits for the British group.

I have a feeling a few more of my favourites are going to fall just short here. Wink another to go today

Eighth Wonder - I'm Not Scared

Bill Withers - Lovely Day

Layla by Derek and the Dominos scored 56 points but is disqualified as it peaked at number 4

This was the biggest hit for the group fronted by Patsy Kensit. It was written and co-produced by the Pet Shop Boys who quickly recorded their own version. Lovely Day by Bill Withers reached number 7 in 1978 with a remix going as high as number 4 ten years later. Toward the end of the song he holds a note for 18 seconds.

Didn't realise Lovely Day would count. Would've got some decent points from me
