New thread for a New Year, let's see where things are at the moment in terms of Heart's most played which forms their current high rotation playlist

Benson Boone - Beautiful Things

Dasha - Austin (Boots Stop Workin')

Hozier - Too Sweet

Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars - Die With A Smile

Myles Smith - Stargazing

Noah Kahan - Stick Season

Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen - I Had Some Help

Shaboozey - A Bar Song (Tipsy)

Teddy Swims - Lose Control

Teddy Swims - The Door

Here's to hoping some much needed freshness comes sooner rather than later. Something like APT. would be very much at home here.

Heart needs more fresh, newer music there are so many songs that would fit so well in here.

Teddy Swims - Bad Dreams now on the list. Teddy is now being played anywhere up to 15 times in a 24 hour period as all 3 tracks are on rotation!

Here are a few songs I believe could be a great fit for Heart’s playlist:

  • Alex Warren – Carry You Home & Ordinary

  • Billie Eilish – Birds Of A Feather

  • Chappell Roan – Good Luck Babe, Pink Pony Club & The Giver

  • Dasha – Not At This Party

  • Gracie Abrams – I Love You, I’m Sorry & That’s So True

Additionally, Calvin Harris - Pain Away and Doechii - Anxiety (since it was number 1 for 3 weeks) might also work, although they may be a bit of a stretch.

Erm, when was Anxiety number 1 for 3 weeks?

On the Big Top 40, not the Official Charts.

I've definitely thought Alex Warren and Gracie Abrams would be right at home on Heart. Ordinary feels too big for them not to be playing it!

They’ll play Ordinary in 3 months once it’s dived out of the charts. 😂

Ha true, although it sounds and looks like it’ll be there until the Christmas songs push it down!

Ordinary has been added today. Nice to see them actually add a song whilst its at its peak. 😆

Stick Season has also finally dropped off the main playlist recently, just one or two plays a day now.

Oh no! But good to see them adding songs at their peak.

  • 2 weeks later...

To be fair in my opinion, the reason Heart doesn't add songs to the playlist until after their pop chart peak is because A) they're an adult contemporary station targeting an adult contemporary audience and B) the general public listening to Heart don't know about those songs properly to care about how old or recent it is - they just think it's good background fodder to hum along to, because it's catchy - at least to the audience Heart caters to.

Chappell Roan - Pink Pony Club added. Feels right that they're playing it. They've done a pretty good job at picking up the big hitters this year.

I'm surprised they haven't added more Benson Boone (e.g. Slow It Down, Sorry I'm Here For Someone Else etc.).

Heart have just overtaken Radio 2 as the most popular network in the UK now. I think they have a real opportunity to tap into the Hot AC field a bit more. No one is asking them to turn into Capital but there are definitely some missed opportunities within the playlist.

So the Heart brand as a whole set of stations combined (which includes listeners from their decades and Dance station) has more than R2 rather than that main station itself.
