Mr Williams correcting me on Upfront.

I should have listened to you Alex

Can you believe Fulham Broadway station is closed tomorrow for "planned engineering works"?

Who decided that on the day a match is played at Stamford Bridge and 41,000 people will be there?

It is going to be a bit of a mare getting to the match. I think we may have to leave dead on ten o'clock when the match ends and miss the presentation to the winning team and try to walk back to West Brompton then.

When it's in Manchester - it's easy - I'm on my hols and don't have to worry about work  but tomorrow night I don't want to still be trying to get back from London at midnight. :nono:

Had a great time tonight with a friend who was a football lover but had never been to Socceraid before. B-)

So:

1. Stamford Bridge is not as good a venue as Old Trafford. It's quite a lot smaller and the atmosphere to me wasn't as good.

2. I got to see Tom Hanks in person. My goodness I was excited. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo:

3. We had excellent seats right next to the dugout. The best seats I've ever had. We saw some very funny exchanges between Piers Morgan and Bradley Walsh. I was also about five foot away from Jonny Wilkes who looked incredibly well and was doing lots of interviews. He looked gorgeous and it reminded me again how much I miss seeing him be around Rob.

3. Rita Ora only sang her new song, no hits so basically it was just an advert . But I guess that's business and I know RW has done that plenty of times before.

4. It's really irritating stopping and starting everything to fit in with the TV ad breaks. I miss the days when it was smaller and more ad hoc. It's a massive corporate charity event now.

5. The match itself was great, lots of Mexican waves. Usain Bolt amazing. :cheer:

6. £6.7m raised so far - a record amount. It's getting close to £40m raised. Mindblowing.

7. I missed Robbie. I missed his presence, his leadership and his energy. He is "Mr Socceraid." I hope he's back next year to lead the teams out.

Gosh !! I love Tom Hanks, I could not believe it when he walked on to the pitch :o

I enjoyed the game, it was very entertaining

Great to Jonny W there , he looks fab , you would love to bang R & W's heads together , be brave & kiss & make up I say

Did you have trouble getting a train home Laura

Jonny looked so lovely yesterday - he's such a gentle bloke - he was thanking everyone for being there etc. I do miss him.

I've never asked any celebrity for a photo in my life - I'm too shy but I did think if he gets any closer I'm going to ask him. Anyway he moved off to do interviews before the penalties so that was that.

I thought the man who did the poem at the start using sign language was really moving.

We had a really good journey home. I must admit we did leave before the presentation but got a train easily and I was back in Epsom by 12. B-)

O Laura, you should have grabbed him when you had the chance , he always looks pleasant, I do not think he would have minded. Glad the journey home was fine ...

OFF Soccer Aid 2020 postponed due to coronavirus pandemic as founder Robbie Williams urges people to follow government guidelines

This year’s Soccer Aid has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The annual match, which features celebrities, athletes and football icons, has raised more than £38million for charity Unicef to help children across the world.

Soccer Aid took place at Stamford Bridge in 2019

Soccer Aid raised a record £7.9million in last year’s match at Stamford Bridge and the event was set to take place at Old Trafford on June 6.

However, the coronavirus outbreak, which has infected more than 450,000 people worldwide with the death toll reaching 20,000, has forced organisers to push the event back.

A statement read: “The health and safety of the general public, Soccer Aid for Unicef fans and players is paramount.

Give COVID-19 the red card

The quicker we work together to stop coronavirus spreading, the sooner we can get back into the pubs, the gyms and stadiums and arenas to see live sport again…STAY AT HOME. Only leave for the following purposes:

“The postponement has been decided based on UK Government advice and consultation with many other event stakeholders, plus the football family.

“Whilst a new date has not yet been confirmed, several options are being explored.

“Soccer Aid for Unicef remains committed to holding an event later this year to raise vital funds and help children everywhere grow up happy, healthy and able to play.”

Singer Robbie Williams, who founded Soccer Aid in 2006, urged the public to follow the government’s guidelines concerning the coronavirus.

Soccer Aid raised a record £7.9million last year

He said: “These are unprecedented times and the thoughts of everybody connected with Soccer Aid for Unicef are with everybody that is affected by coronavirus right now.

“Please, please, please follow the government’s advice and stay safe.
