God, you really do hate poor Jade don't you!

  • Has just occurred to me that the Playboi Carti/Skepta entry means we extend into 5 years in a row that have had exactly one new top 75 entry titled 'Toxic' (or 'TOXIC' in this case) following Digga D

  • I echo this. I remember that you are hardly a Jade fan from when you slated a previous release, but FUFN is not a "Solo mess" either.

Anyone any idea where sugababes charted?

They didn't - the top 100 is all there is.

Thanks, I thought there was a top 200

Has just occurred to me that the Playboi Carti/Skepta entry means we extend into 5 years in a row that have had exactly one new top 75 entry titled 'Toxic' (or 'TOXIC' in this case) magic following Digga D in 2021, BoyWithUke in 2022, Nines/Bad Boy Chiller Crew in 2023 and Songer in 2024. (The latter maybe technically titled 'Toxic (Freestyle)' but close enough)

UK TOP 100 SUMMARY AND REVIEW 22.03.25 #25

THE TOP TEN:

The Weeknd and Carti's 'Rather Lie' is in at 10. 'Abracadabra' declines on sales to 9, and 'Sports Car' declines to 8. Playboi Carti's highest album entry is at 7 with 'Evil Jordan', which sits below 'Busy Woman', which gains to 6. Benson Boone declines on sales to 5, and Chappell declines to 4 with 'Pink Pony Club'. Doechii has a 10,000+ climb in sales as 'Anxiety' reaches a new high of 3, which is just below the highest new entry this week, 'The Giver' by Chappell Roan. And taking the number one in a mammoth 15,000+ climb in sales is 'Ordinary' by Alex Warren, which gives the act his first UK number one!

NEW ENTRIES:

96. Sally when the wine runs out – Role Model (7.6/10)

The song is giving the essence of Mark Ambor's lyrics and feel-good style while having a voice resembling Mark's and a mix of Shawn Mendes in there too; it sounds like the 'Belong Together' of 2025. It uses a very general formula of country-pop that sounds like it's made for social media, which doesn't bother me if the track is actually good, and it's a song that really pulls you in; instead of having one hook, the whole song keeps up that same level of upbeat. It's fun; it's made for summer.

71. Relationships – Haim (4/10)

Previous listen:

Passable and fun pop, nothing more than that.

Added:

The beat feels like it's in a constant revolving loop that won't reach its peak, and the revolving part is uninteresting; it's just made of claps and some instrumentals being pressed over and over, and the topic of the song along with a girl group who sounds like they're desperately trying to win a spot in the H&M playlist doesn't help either.

46. Smoke the Pain Away – Calvin Harris (1/10)

Yeah… It's a big fat NO from me. Calvin Harris has never even come close to failing this bad; most of the time he impressed me by always coming out with a summer hit, but this time he just destroys his reputation. For once in a long while, Calvin is the vocalist on the track, and his vocals are absolutely horrid; he sounds like a grandpa who's been smoking too much. The song background goes into more country music with a harmonica to make up the key part of the sound. It genuinely sounds so cheap, and I'm frankly just really shocked that Calvin Harris would put out something so low quality that sounds like the equivalent of a country filler song. Whatever he thought he did, he didn't do; this sounds like a troll.

30. Dark Thoughts – Lil Tecca (5/10)

Previous listen:

The definition of boring.

Added:

I don't get the huge attention for this; the rap song features no ability to give a good hook. The beat is about the most I can applaud; it gives a summer feeling with different layers that don't complement the vocals but just lie beside them. Apart from that, it's autotuned rap that has a reason. I can see why people would enjoy it, but it's still not for me.

25. FUFN (F*** You For Now) - JADE (2/10)

JADE is making yet another solo mess with this one! JADE is a definition of a diva without the D, I, V, or A. This song resembles exactly what we don't want from someone trying to give off bold and main character vibes. It feels like it has no substance whatsoever and instead is just a pop song that's incredibly basic and doesn't even have any part that wows you. I'm sure the JADE fans will like this regardless, though.

21. Toxic – Playboi Carti/Skepta (6/10)

17. Emergence – Sleep Token (5.5/10)

Previous listen:

I really can't see what separates this song from others and makes it amazing.

Added:

It's just a dull rock song that doesn't showcase the band's full potential; it needs more of a pick-up.

10. Rather Lie – Playboi Carti/The Weeknd (7/10)

7. Evil Jordan – Playboi Carti (8.5/10)

After listening to six songs on the new Carti album, I was uninterested to hear the full thing; the best I heard was the Kendrick feature on 'Good Credit'. But I see the hype on this because it totally matches that song. This starts with a near one-minute trap beat before going into a verse Carti made on 'Popular' and turning it into one of the cleanest transitions I've heard in a while. This then went into Carti rapping; the flow was mostly up to standard, although some lines felt like they could've flowed better. It all felt pretty raw and straight up, though, which I liked.

2. The Giver – Chappell Roan (1/10)

In this song, "The Giver", Chappell Roan is in it, and in this case, she has given us a pile of steamy hot garbage. The Giver represents the pop-to-country crossover that nobody wanted; the lyrics follow the same cringe copy and paste from Chappell's other songs, where she tries to spread the message about how a country boy doesn't know how to treat a woman right and only a woman knows how to treat a woman right, if only she didn't put this message across without sounding like she's Nikocado Avocado at a pride parade. The production here really resembles basic country music that poorly gives across her fun energy and instead feels forced. Please don't lean into this era, Chappell.

RE ENTRIES:

31. Hometown Glory – Adele
[TikTok trends ruling the top 40 once again!]

Your entitled to your opinion (which is wrong 😜🤣) but the Jade song is far from basic 😳

And the Chappel song might not be a masterpiece but 1/10 😳

I echo this.

I remember that you are hardly a Jade fan from when you slated a previous release, but FUFN is not a "Solo mess" either.

I get different strokes for different folks and all that but if that's a basic song I dread to think what the standards are 😅

With a bigger name attached to it i could see it being huge, (although I don't know who would make it better than Jade tbf )

Your entitled to your opinion (which is wrong 😜🤣) but the Jade song is far from basic 😳

And the Chappel song might not be a masterpiece but 1/10 😳

Womp womp.

Music is subjective.

LOL at “Who” having a week of inflated streams to dodge ACR, but having so few genuine listeners that it then drops entirely out on SCR anyway.
