Jack Harlow featuring Doja Cat

Just Us

170x170bb.jpg

Non-album single

Released: 21st March 2025

Label: Generation Now / Atlantic Recording Corporation

Video

Biography

“I still wanna be one of the greats,“ rapper Jack Harlow tells Apple Music about his commitment to his craft. “I’m very ambitious about this. And I think I have what it takes to really make a mark because I love the art.” Harlow, born in 1998 in Kentucky, dedicated himself to the task of turning that dream into reality. Growing up in Louisville, Harlow started writing and rapping at the age of 12 and released his bouncy first EP before graduating from school in late 2015. After his more fully realized mixtape, 18, dropped in 2016, Harlow continued to inject his chill party rap and poppy beats with “addictive, candy-coated qualities,” as he described it to Apple Music. “It’s good on the ears.” With 2017’s Gazebo, he established a more mature sound, moodily riding through his hometown with the intense “Dark Knight” and keeping things dreamy using synth pulses on the regret-laden “Wasted Youth.” It’s a vibe he honed on multiple mixtapes in the late 2010s, keeping with a feel he says is representative of Louisville—smooth and laidback—while exploring elements of trap, which is native to his adopted home base of Atlanta. Harlow’s melodic savvy proved to be the key to achieving mass success when he signed with Generation Now and launched an incredible run of major-label hits with 2020’s punchy “WHATS POPPIN.” An irresistibly sly and sultry single from his 2022 album, Come Home The Kids Miss You, “First Class” took him all the way to the place he always saw as his inevitable destination: on top. Released in 2023, Jackman. captures him in a more reflective mode, with Harlow feeling increasingly comfortable at displaying his vulnerability along with his confidence. - Apple Music

Jonas Brothers

Love Me To Heaven

170x170bb.jpg

1st single from forthcoming studio album

Released: 21st March 2025

Label: Jonas Brothers Recording

Video

Biography

When Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas got their first taste of fame, many erroneously assumed the brothers were just another flash-in-the-pan boy band. What the world got instead was a multi-instrumental trio of talented songwriters with true lasting star power and a roster of canonical pop jams. The Jonases grew up in New Jersey, honing their musical skills in church before finding their way to the majors. Their 2006 debut, It's About Time, paired the boys’ innate talent with Jersey songwriting royalty: Fountains Of Wayne’s Adam Schlesinger and Bon Jovi producer Desmond Child. The Jonas Brothers moved to a Disney label for their eponymous sophomore album in 2007 and started a run of appearances on Disney Channel shows, including the now-legendary Camp Rock, earning the JoBros teen fans around the world. They stoked their fiery fanbase with subsequent summer-lovin’ anthems “Burnin’ Up” and “Tonight”, but weren’t afraid to get personal with ballads like “A Little Bit Longer”, on which Nick opened up about living with diabetes. But growing up sharing the spotlight with siblings took its toll, so after 2009’s aptly titled Lines, Vines and Trying Times, the band split. They took a nearly 10-year break to work on outside projects—including Joe Jonas’ DNCE, which produced the catchy “Cake by the Ocean” single—and focus on being a family again. “We had a better relationship almost immediately following the breakup,” Nick Jonas told Apple Music. The group surprised fans in 2019 by dropping "Sucker", which zipped to No. 1 as fans welcomed their return. Older, wiser and happily coupled, the JoBros were back in the recording studio and in a much better place—all evident in that year's more mature album, Happiness Begins. - Apple Music

Afternoon all hi mostly rooting for The Horrors in the album chart today, hope they can somehow hold on to top 10.

My top 3 songs from each retro chart:

2024

#1 Ariana Grande - we can't be friends (wait for your love)

#2 Hozier - Too Sweet

#3 Olivia Rodrigo - obsessed

To quote that Olivia title... I'm obsessed with the eternal sunshine era all over again thanks to the deluxe.

'Too Sweet' was one of the best #1s of last year. Such a cool chart story for Hozier after stalling at #2 nearly a decade ago.

The initial GUTS vinyl options featured one of the bonus tracks as a 13th hidden song and I got 'obsessed'.

2020

#1 Dua Lipa - Physical

#2 Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now

#3 The Weeknd - Blinding Lights

I'll have to check out that newly released version of 'Physical' featuring Troye Sivan later.

2015

#1 Hozier - Take Me to Church

#2 Years & Years - King

#3 Mark Ronson - Uptown Funk (feat. Bruno Mars)

2010

#1 Lady Gaga - Telephone (feat. Beyoncé)

#2 INNA - Hot

#3 Ellie Goulding - Starry Eyed

The 'Telephone' music video was a legendary moment in Gaga's career! I remember people talking about it at school.

I didn't care for 'Hot' at the time but grew to love it over the years. We had a couple of Romanian dance corkers in the chart that year.

2005

#1 Gwen Stefani - Rich Girl (feat. Eve)

#2 McFly - All About You

#3 Natalie Imbruglia - Shiver

This Gwen and Eve collab is not quite as strong as 'Let Me Blow Ya Mind' but still good fun!

2000

#1 All Saints - Pure Shores

#2 Melanie C - Never Be the Same Again (feat. Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes)

#3 Moloko - The Time Is Now

Oh this was difficult to narrow down to three... I really like 'Don't Give Up', 'Smooth' and 'Still Dre' too.

1995

#1 Strike - U Sure Do

#2 Freak Power - Turn On, Tune In, Cop Out

#3 Bobby Brown - Two Can Play That Game

You sure make me feel like loving youuuu music wub

Extremely odd how things on the video streaming chart have never changed - blame the parents giving their young toddlers an iPad or tablet to watch Cocomelon repeatedly for the unstoppable dominance of "The Wheels on the Bus" on that chart!

I assume now that R1 are bothering to broadcast the chart again, all the interesting new entries from last week will have fallen out and/or not get played?

Wild to think that 'Amarillo' sold between 260-270k in each of its first 2 weeks in 2005, especially considering these were all physical singles as downloads didn't count yet.

Yeah, a few will have fallen out, and I expect at least one or two of those remaining will be skipped.

Biography

Singer/songwriter Olivia Dean crafts poignant ballads and warm pop anthems, showcasing a deep sense of self-awareness. Born in 1999 in Enfield and raised in Walthamstow, Dean participated in gospel choir at a young age, before busking in the streets and eventually attending the famous BRIT School. Influenced by Lauryn Hill, Amy Winehouse and Carole King, Dean’s own take on music is autobiographical and vulnerable. In 2019, she released her debut EP, Ok Love You Bye, which delved into the challenging aspects of dating, like on the meditative “Password Change”. The following year, Dean dropped her follow-up EP, What Am I Gonna Do On Sundays?, a concise but evocative set of songs brimming with celestial melodies and confessional lyrics. Dean’s signature introspective style continues to grow more intimate, as evinced by the delicate 2021 EP Growth, highlighted by the soul-baring single “Be My Own Boyfriend”. - Apple Music
