  • It will probably be identical to Eastovka, but we're just giving a little bit of restriction so other artists might get better spotlight (and other countries won't consider ourselves 'too cheap').

  • Another beautiful piece from her, I definitely should get round to checking out more from her back catalogue sometime.

  • Congrats on getting such an out and out hardstyle entry into the final, I'm rooting for it from the sidelines!

BJSC 174: Uru - Ambivalent

Lyrics: Uru

Composer: YAS

Arranger: Hayato Tanaka

About:

"Ambivalent is a J-Pop song by the Japanese singer Uru, which also became the second opening theme for the anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) season 1.

Arguably, “Ambivalent” is considered one of the most “pure pop” sounding J-Pop songs ever in both the anime scene and the 2020s."

Intrigued by this new change in direction! Will we continue to see some Eastovkan legacy live on?

BJSC 174: Nora En Pure - Memories

Producer: Nora En Pure, H1RT

About:

"Following the country’s disappointing debut, A-Konohagakure has decided to pay homage to South Danaelanda and Land of DW by sending their former artist, also a BJSC winner, Nora En Pure, a South African-born DJ and producer based in Switzerland.

A-Konohagakure will continue the late Eastovkan legacy by being a country focusing on Asian music and big energy dance/electronic stuff, yet being more successful in their non-comfort subgenres."

BJSC 180: Sukatani - Tumbal Proyek

Producer, Lyrics, Composer: Alectroguy

(This is written before the revelation)

Ending this year's BJSC, A-Konohagakure decided to continue the tradition of Eastovka, which is to send at least one Indonesian artist/band every year. After holding our National Finals, namely "Konoha Mencari Bakat (Konoha's Looking For Talent)", Sukatani won both the fan and jury votes with their song Tumbal Proyek, their first ever post-2023 album single, which also served as the original soundtrack of the Indonesian film "Angkara Murka (Mad of Madness)."

Sukatani received sudden positive attention earlier this year in February via Fantano on X (formerly Twitter), but not in a way the Indonesians were proud of. One of the album tracks from their debut LP, Bayar Bayar Bayar, a song about police corruption in Indonesia, was pulled from the streaming platforms because of the 'little threats' they received from the aforementioned institute. The duo, consisting of vocalist Twister Angel (initially working as a teacher at a private Islamic school in Central Java before being forced to resign) and guitarist-producer Alectroguy, even released an unmasked apology video believed to have been recorded under threat.

Tumbal Proyek is a new wave pop punk (dunno if it's the correct alt/indie subgenre x) track that criticises human sacrifice as portrayed in the film. While the theme may seem obscure and outdated, many developed countries in Southeast Asia are secretly still practicing this ritual. CowTzy, a die-hard festival dance/electronic fan since 2017, noted that Tumbal Proyek gives frenchcore vibes reminiscent of Re-Style, Sefa, and Dr. Peacock. The song is performed in the Javanese language, similar to Eastovka's Bunga Bangsa entry (Prahara Rusaking Jagad), but specifically in the Banyumasan dialect (Ngapak). The English translation of the lyrics can be found in the music video.

A-Konohagakure is extremely aware that with FSR Rontvia hosting, this edition will inevitably be another bloodbath, so we would be grateful if you considered voting for us and Sukatani so that the positive exposure from here could help them perform overseas, like Voice of Baceprot!

What the 'losing heroines' were about:

White Chorus - Mungkin -> Song about self-regrets and self-motivation which mentions the optimism of us Southeast Asians with our mother's prayers. White Chorus is also one of the Indonesian music groups that is against the wave of Indonesian ballad singers, with them leaning more toward electropop.

Bernadya, JKT48 - Percik Kecil -> Made it to the National Finals dedicated to the late songwriter Gusti Irwan Wibowo, who died this year aged 25. Bernadya is mostly known for her ballad indie pop/folk music from last year. In this song, she challenged herself to perform typical Japanese idol-like music alongside the Indonesian branch of AKB48.

BJSC 176: CHANMINA - TEST ME

Producer & Lyrics: CHANMINA

Composer: CHANMINA & Dr.R

About:

"Kicking off the 2026 season, A-Konohagakure sent the South Korean-Japanese rapper/singer CHANMINA. She is recently known for getting nominated for one of Japan's most prestigious awards, Music Awards Japan, in 2025. She is also known for founding the record label NO LABEL MUSIC and collaborating with notable Asian artists like TAEYEON (of Girls' Generation) and Rina Sawayama (Spotify Singles).

Just about a couple hours left before we continued our Alt/Indie Arc, CowTzy contacted our HQ and immediately said, 'Send that Oshi no Ko OP! I don't care if it flops, just send CHANMINA!' after he watched the latest episode of Oshi no Ko."

BJSC 182: El Cuarteto De Nos - En el cuarto de Nico

Lyrics & Composition: Roberto Musso

Arranger: Luciano Supervielle

About:

"A-Konohagakure proudly presents our first ever Spanish-language entry, En el Cuatro de Nico by one of Uruguay's most popular rock bands El Cuarteto de Nos.

The Minister of Culture attended a coffee session with CowTzy during the New Year's Eve. During the session, CowTzy, who also serves as a regular member of the Anime Guild Ranking Committee, directly requested that the Minister submit the Latin rock record to the main Buzzjack Song Contest in 2026 after discovering it through a fellow Guild member’s recommendation."
