no one can say anything negative about Ed

177K is another underperfomance from Ed, but at least this time we were all prepared and not expecting much so no surprises

I'd be more concerned that out of 35 new releases only 3 even made a tiny dent on the Spotify chart with 2 potentially all 3 dropping out Tommorrow, says more about the state of the charts 🤷

I was totally expecting Ordinary to be global #1, glad DWAS hold on.

DWAS has been #1 on global Spotify for 195 non-consecutive days. I hope it can reach 200 days but either way it will be almost impossible to beat that record.

Amazing for a song considered a "flop" on release

It has not been EXCEPTIONALLY big in the UK (not a flop by any means though) - it was only #37 on Year End 2024 chart, below songs like Kisses, Slow It Down and Last Christmas lol. It's also only Gaga's 10th most popular song in the UK at the moment. It will climb but a long way to top 3 there.

It's been super strong in Asia and South America which are usually difficult territories for western pop hits, hence the astounding longevity on global chart.

Yeah my bad 1.2m for a song that's not even been out 9 months is pretty poor your right 😅

It's outsold SC taste that was released 1 week later and was at number 1 for 9 weeks, DWAS had zero

It was also 150k sales below Taste at the start of the year, shocking how poor it's performing in the UK 😬

(Nothing against taste is just looked for a "massive song" released at the same time for comparison)

The difference between Taste and DWAS is pretty small but I agree, the latter will probably win the war despite losing the battle.

However, Sabrina had two bigger hits than Taste last year alone, which kind of underlines my point that DWAS wasn't huge at any stage. Slow and steady might win the race though!

Not really your kind of proving the opposite, as for your examples used Slow it down was released at the end of 2023 so had 8 months on DWAS kisses was released in March again had 5 months more than DWAS 🤣

DWAS was just unlucky to hit ACR early

Slow It Down came out in March 2024!

We've had this discussion before but I don't think the only "exceptionally" big hits are the ones that have huge peak sales/streams. Die With a Smile's consistency has made it exceptionally big, just in a different way. Its EOY position is actually more of a testament to how big it was, IMO, because not many songs released that deep into the year were able to make the EOY top 40 - in fact, only Taste was more recent.

I went by the wiki release got my bad it said 29th December 2023 as recorded so that's my mistake

either way contributed to a higher EOY position

And again I agree because taste was the only example i could find released later

(Last Christmas and other Christmas will always be an anomaly)

Still pains me that DWAS stalled at #2.

I know it was basically the song of the joker film, if was able to just focus on the song, not the film, the companion album etc etc could it have had more of a shot

It had nothing to do with the Joker film? unsure

I was wondering if Gnarly would show up! "Bad song" hype is definitely a thing on TikTok, so many people discussing whether they hate it or love it. I actually think I'm the latter but I'm not sure I see it sticking around once the initial discussion has died down.

Ordinary up again from last week, nice.

Nothing groundbreaking, still very quiet and boring.

Old Phone down 79 spots to #112 with less than 100k. Insane how poorly he’s doing, everyone is flopping that’s true but this is bad.
