May 5May 5 So I actually found this quite a challenge to send something to as all of my go-to dreampop discoveries (Ozean - Scenic, Chapterhouse - Pearl and Slowdive's discog) are ones I've sent to other song contests here. While I wouldn't describe NewDad's current sound as dreampop, I did remember this having a distinctly dreamy sound so I am pleased I got to send it. Instead, that 'honour' goes to Tennis, who now receive a commiseration shoutout in Brer's votes, so edging ever closer to those first points. As for what did make the cut... a gold medal has been awarded to Yndling who advances from 9th place to joint 4th. Brer gave 10 points to his former BJSC entrants Yumi Zouma who rise to 8th place. We hope this doesn't sting too much right now. The final podium placement is for chiaroscuro, who strengthen their tally to a round 50 points. My own entry excitingly advances to 2nd place after a generous 7 points. Rollo's votes ensure that Yndling's momentum continues as she receives a second gold medal in a row! 'Astral Projection' was originally sent to the BuzzJack Song Contest by Brer's nation Persephonia in edition 144, which pre-dates Scene's participation in the contest. This song finished 22nd in BJSC, so was fair game to enter here due to not cracking the top 20. But will Scene achieve a top 20 placing in PFSC? It is certainly looking good so far while Yumi Zouma currently occupy 13th place on the scoreboard. Scene's 12 points to Turnover mean that the rock band are now part of the top 10! Tennis had been struggling to get off the mark but are now recognised in a big way, as they receive a silver medal. This lifts 'Pollen Song' out of the wooden spoon position and instead into 21st. Brer also dodges last place due to receiving 3 points from Scene, so it is now fhàna down there, whose sender remains a mystery. Saint Etienne pick up the pace again with a bronze medal and sit just outside of the top 10 as a result. Rich is currently doing well in 6th place! His favourite entry was from Polly Scattergood, who vaults into the top 10 after this first medal position of the night. Akira Galaxy has experienced an almighty drought but finds some love again within Rich's podium positions. I awarded her 10 points as well right at the start... so she's had two silvers and nothing else so far! However, After have been polling well pretty consistently and ascend into the top 3, following 8 points.
